Muscat youth shine in clubs cultural contest
The sixth edition of the competition saw participation of five clubs – Oman, Seeb, Amerat, Quriyat and Ahli Sidab – with contestants competing in six categories: individual debate, music, chanting, sports commentary, classical and folk poetry, and innovation and entrepreneurship.
Khalfan bin Mohammed al Abri, Director of Exhibitions Affairs Department at the ministry and head of the working group for Muscat, said the competition fulfilled its aim of identifying and developing youth talent. 'The level of preparation by clubs and youth committees was evident in the performance of participants. The Best Youth Committee Award added to the spirit of competition and motivated greater participation,' he said.
In the individual debate category, Al Julanda bin Mohsen al Battashi from Ahli Sidab Club won first place, followed by Raghad bint Riyadh al Siyabi (Amerat) and Jude bint Saeed al Mughairy (Oman).
For sports commentary, the top prize went to Mohammed bin Saeed al Ghatrifi (Amerat), with Nibras bin Abdul Jalil Bu Shaham (Oman) and Maran bin Khalid al Rabkhi (Quriyat) finishing second and third.
In the innovation and entrepreneurship category, Sharifa bint Mohammed al Hinai (Oman) secured first place, ahead of Mazoon bint Saeed al Rabia (Amerat) and Suleiman bin Ali al Maamari (Seeb).
Classical poetry saw Mohammed bin Salem al Maashri (Amerat) took first place, followed by Qusay bin Salem al Nabhani (Seeb) and Ahmed bin Saif al Muqimi (Ahli Sidab). In folk poetry, the top three spots went to Fahd bin Ali al Maamari (Ahli Sidab), Tariq bin Zaki al Hajri (Amerat) and Nasser bin Rashid al Jabri (Quriyat).
In chanting, Hashim bin Nabil al Mousawi (Oman) placed first, with Hiba bint Ali al Riyami (Quriyat) second and Maryam bint Hamoud al Khanjari (Ahli Sidab) third.
In the music category, the first place went to Moayed bin Khalfan al Habsi (Oman), followed by Hassan bin Mustafa al Lawati (Amerat) and Al Moatasem bin Jamal al Battashi (Quriyat).
Prizes were awarded to the top three contestants in each category in the closing ceremony.

'Club Cultural Innovation Competition' concludes

Families flock to Amerat Park for summer activities
Muscat – The Amerat summer events, currently taking place at Al Amerat Park, continue to draw large numbers of families and visitors of all ages. The festival, which began on May 25, is scheduled to run until June 14, offering a range of cultural and recreational activities. The event is organised under the supervision of the Office of the Wali of Al Amerat, with participation from government and community bodies.
