BBC EastEnders confirm change to Monday's iPlayer episode

Former commissioning executive at Channel 4, Ben Wadey, who has also previously worked as a story editor on EastEnders, is now taking over the reins of Albert Square.
But as his stint as the new executive producer of Walford begins, it's been revealed there will be no usual BBC iPlayer episode dropping at 6am on Monday (June 16).
In a statement, Ben has hinted that something 'big' is on the way, as EastEnders has shared that Monday's episode will air on BBC One and iPlayer at the same time (7.30pm).
He teased: 'Next week marks the start of something big in Walford that we hope will get everyone talking, and it's only just the beginning.'
Ben also revealed what to expect in Walford over the next few months and why fans 'don't want to miss' this summer.
He added: 'We've got twists, shocks, and plenty of drama lined up for a summer you don't want to miss.'
However, the change to the BBC iPlayer schedule has left some fans speculating that an EastEnders legend is about to return after four years.
📣Schedule Alert! #EastEnders, Monday 16th June, 7:30pm on @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer. Trust us, you won't want to miss it!

It comes as @bbceastenders wrote on X: 'Schedule Alert! #EastEnders, Monday 16th June, 7:30pm on @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer. Trust us, you won't want to miss it! (There will be no 6am iPlayer drop).'
In response, someone said: 'It's Max Branning and Oscar returning this Monday 16th June 2025 at Number 14 Albert Square spoiler reveal.'
Another commented: 'Please tell me Max is back!!
This viewer asked: 'Max??'
Last month, reports by The Sun suggested Max, played by Jake Wood, was set to return to Walford.
As a TV source previously said: 'Jake's return is huge news for EastEnders fans as his character made a massive mark on the show.
'It'll raise some eyebrows after he was absent from the 40th anniversary earlier this year.
'Bosses are excited about what his character's reappearance means for spicing up the plots.
'There is plenty to go at. Max has loads of unfinished business in the Square and is set to ruffle some feathers.'
EastEnders declined to comment in May.

As reported by The Metro, Monday's episode will follow on from Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie Moon's (Shane Richie) wedding day.
Meanwhile, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) is on a mission to sabotage Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) and Kathy Beale's (Gillian Taylforth) new business venture.
The Radio Time summary adds: 'Jean takes action to right a wrong. Alfie is clearly hiding something. George gets some much-needed advice.'

Jamie used the offensive phrase to pour scorn on Blackpool, which is seen as the jewel in each series of the BBC's prime-time family show. As part of his bid to save his acting career, he this week sent a heartfelt message to a former partner, conceding it was 'not clear' if he'd be returning to EastEnders. But he told how the circumstances had given him time to reflect on 'decisions that have led me here'. Jamie said: 'I accept the karma that has come my way due to some bad choices.' He went on to say he is 'attempting to right the wrongs in my life', and 'want to sincerely apologise for the mistakes I made and for hurting you and how I handled the whole situation'. The EastEnders star, who joined the soap in 2006, said in a public apology: 'I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused. 'It is no excuse, but I did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning. That is on me completely. Now I am aware, I am deeply embarrassed to have used the term and directed it in the way I did. It was wrong. 'When I made the video, I was excited and caught up in the moment. Again, that is no excuse. But my regrettable actions are not a true reflection of my views, or who I am. 'I enjoyed every minute of my time in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and the town itself. "The people of Blackpool have always been amazing with the Strictly crew, dancers and cast members. I know they will be again for this year's show and those in years to come. I am truly sorry.' The BBC said his language was 'entirely unacceptable and in no way reflects the values or standards we hold and expect'. Disability charity Scope said Borthwick should reflect on what he said and educate himself. "We hope he takes the opportunity to get to know the reality of disabled people's lives,' said the organisation's media manager Warren Kirwan. In April, The Sun told how Jamie and Wynne were rapped by BBC bosses for sharing a backstage joke over a sex toy video when the Strictly tour was in Birmingham. A source told us last night: "Jamie has been reaching out to people off his own back and trying to sort his life out once and for all. He is genuinely remorseful. He's a young man with his acting career stretching out ahead of him. "He will be forced to stay at home for a while and acknowledge his misdemeanours. A lesson is being learned. But it's good news for fans that there is a good chance that we haven't seen the last of Jamie in Albert Square." 5 Jamie said 'I accept the karma that has come my way due to some bad choices" Credit: Simon Jones
