Lowest price ever: This Anker charger is almost 50% off right now

At NBC Select, we have a lot to say about chargers and power banks. Knowing the difference between a great one and a not-so-good one can make or break your next vacation or road trip, which is where we come in to help. Anker makes some of the fastest charging devices I've ever used — it's one of the best brands on the market for these kinds of devices and while it recently recalled a few of its products, one that's still fair game is the Anker Prime 67-watt charger. It's almost 50% off on Amazon right now, putting it at its lowest price ever. Learn more, below. Deal of the Day: The Anker Prime 67-watt USB-C charger is 1.5 x 1.5 x 2 inches, making it less than half the size of an Apple laptop power adapter. It has three ports: a USB and two USB-C ones. It's safe to charge up to three devices simultaneously, including iPhones, iPads and other tablets, earbuds and over-ear headphones, Apple Watches and Macbook Pro and Air, according to Anker. The charger also powers up devices quickly — customers note that it charges around 2 to 3% every minute, depending on the device. Given its small size, the charger could easily fit a travel tech organizer bag, a tote or crossbody bag. Want more from NBC Select? Sign up for our newsletter, The Selection, and shop smarter. Google giveaway offers free smartwatch and earbuds ahead of Pixel 10 launch

The Pixel 10 is set to be unveiled at the annual Made By Google event on August 20, but these Pixel 9 deals may too good to miss. Google has confirmed when it will unveil the new Pixel 10 smartphone, but the tech giant's latest giveaway may tempt shoppers into sticking with the current model. Google's annual Made by Google event is set for August 20 in New York City, where it will showcase its latest Pixel devices, including phones, watches and earbuds. Ahead of the event, the Pixel 9 range has dropped to a record low price as retailers tempt shoppers into picking up the 2024 model. One of our favourite deals comes from Currys-backed retailer which is handing out free Google gadgets with orders of the Google Pixel 9. Customers can get their hands on Pixel Buds A Series, Pixel Buds Pro 2 and a Pixel Watch 3 when signing up for select 24-month contracts. The Pixel Buds A are bundled in with a choice of plans, including iD Mobile's £24.99 per month deal, alongside 100GB of data for a £59 upfront cost. There's also the option to increase the monthly cost to £27.99 to lower the upfront cost to £9. However, this works out at £22 more expensive over the life of the plan. For the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2, a standout package is the iD Mobile £28.99 plan, with £9 upfront for 100GB of data. Those preferring a free Pixel Watch 3 (41mm) can opt for iD Mobile's £28.99 plan, offering 100GB with a £59 upfront cost. The free gift with each package will be delivered with the handset to the address provided at the checkout, however the deal is only available while stocks last. It's worth noting that iD Mobile – like most providers – will increase its prices every April alongside inflation. The company has already set out its changes, with the £24.99 plan rising to £26.49 from April 2026 and £27.99 from 1st April 2027. Taking into account the £59 upfront cost, the total amount paid over 24 months comes to £715.76, but those who prefer to buy the phone outright can currently find a cheaper deal elsewhere. That's because an unlocked Google Pixel 9 256GB has fallen from £899 to £597 at Amazon – a £302 saving. This is the cheapest price ever offered for the handset, according to price tracker camelcamelcamel. Sky Mobile is another option, with the 128GB model now at £21 when spreading the cost, with £12 upfront. However, this comes on a longer 36-month contract and must be purchased with a Sky data plan, ranging from £0 for 100MB to £20 for unlimited. The Google Pixel 9 has earned some rave reviews on Amazon, where it currently boasts a 4.4-star rating. One happy customer said, 'Brilliant. The phone feels quality, and the build is excellent. The transfer of data from a Samsung S21 was simple. The camera is excellent. The OS is less fussy than Samsung.' Another said: 'Good all-round phone. Good, solid case. Clear screen with Android 14 but upgraded to 15. Includes Gemini AI software. Seems intuitive, but only time will tell how useful it is.' However, the same user found a downside, adding: "The only criticism is that there is no SD card slot to increase memory. If you take and store a lot of photos, you will have to keep transferring to another memory medium.' But another five-star review said: 'Excellent product. Has a sleek design and lightweight, lovely features and great value for money. It is also very easy to use.'

New research shows changing consumer attitudes towards second-hand economy

New research from Amazon, compiled by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR), has revealed that two-thirds of British consumers bought second-hand goods online last year, with pre-owned online shopping set to grow to 4.8 billion pounds in the UK this year. The changing consumer attitudes towards the second-hand economy are being driven by clothing and fashion, with the research stating that British consumers saved a collective 5.6 billion pounds in 2024 and kept 199 million products in circulation. The key factors for consumers turning to pre-owned products include increasing cost-of-living pressures, wider availability of second-hand goods, and heightened consideration of environmental issues among shoppers. Demographics also reveal an evolving market, with 74 percent of people aged 34 and under embracing second-hand shopping compared to 52 percent of over-55s. CEBR also noted that average monthly spend on pre-loved goods has more than doubled over five years, increasing by 113 percent from 58.40 to 124.80 pounds a month, and second-hand products now account for 34-45 percent of UK spending within some of the most popular categories, including tech, fashion and home appliances. Despite growing popularity, barriers remain, with the report identifying key concerns from consumers, including product condition (43 percent), lack of warranties (39 percent), and seller trust (29 percent) preventing wider adoption.
