IMAX alone accounted for 21 per cent of the total box office revenue, highlighting the contribution of premium formats to its by franchise veteran Dean DeBlois, the film delves deeper into the emotional arcs and Viking world-building while staying faithful to the 2010 animated film. In the film, Mason Thames plays Hiccup, an awkward yet endearing teen who dares to befriend a dragon. Nico Parker plays Astrid, while Gerard Butler reprises the role of Stoick the Vast, Hiccup's father, voicing the character. Massive dragon flights, immersive battle sequences, and breathtaking landscapes set the tone for 'How to Train Your Dragon' and has brought family audiences back to the Dean DeBlois confirmed that the next instalment is scheduled for June 11, 2027 at Universal Pictures's CinemaCon earlier this also recently opened up about the backlash over Parker's casting as Astrid. Fans had expected Astrid to look more like she did in the original. In the original, Astrid was white with blonde hair and blue eyes. Variety reported Dean as saying that it bothered him in the beginning, but hoped people would let it go seeing how Parker nailed the role and that's what happened.
