Missing MP lawyer traced in UP's town on Nepal border after 12 days

A female lawyer and civil judge aspirant, Archana Tiwari, who was reported missing while travelling on a train nearly two weeks ago, was traced in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Khiri town on Nepal border on Tuesday, a police official said. SP (Railways) Rahul Kumar Lodha said cops are bringing her back to Bhopal and after recording her statement, details of the entire episode will be known.(Representative image/PTI) Tiwari, who was heading to Katni from Indore on the intervening nights of August 7-8 for Rakshabandhan festival, did not reach her destination and was missing since then. "Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel finally traced Archana Tiwari in Lakhimpur-Khiri town on the Indo-Nepal border after 12 days of hectic search," SP (Railways) Rahul Kumar Lodha said. Cops are bringing her back to Bhopal and after recording her statement, details of the entire episode will be known, he said. Tiwari's kin earlier suspected that she was a victim of human trafficking and sought a CBI probe, but Lodha did not say anything about this angle. According to police, the last location of the 29-year-old lawyer was traced to Itarsi station. After that, her mobile phone was found switched off. Tiwari was a practicing lawyer at the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. She was also preparing for a civil judge examination. She left for Katni on August 7 by the Narmada Express train, but did not reach her destination. Tiwari's family members later lodged a missing person complaint at the Rani Kamalapati GRP police station in Bhopal. Police searched for clues in areas ranging from Rani Kamalapati station to Itarsi and Katni, and scanned CCTV cameras of stations and surrounding areas. Lodha said Tiwari's last location was Itarsi station.

3 electrocuted in 2 accidents during Ganeshotsav prep in city

Hyderabad: Three men died in two electrocution accidents during Ganeshotsav preparations in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The twin tragedy came a day after five persons were electrocuted during a Janmashtami chariot procession in Ramanthapur late Sunday. In Bandlaguda, two men — tractor driver Dhoni alias Toni (19) and Vikas (21), a labourer — were electrocuted and their associate, Akhil (23), was injured when the Ganesh idol they were transporting in a tractor-trolley came in contact with a high-tension power line on Tuesday. The injured man was hospitalised. According to Bandlaguda police, about 15 youths from Chandrapuram near Puranapul had gone to Laxmiguda in Jalpally to bring a 22-ft Ganesh idol for installation at their pandal under Hussainialam police station limits. The idol was loaded onto a tractor-trolley driven by Dhoni. There were about 15 youngsters in the trolley at the time of the incident. Three of them, including the driver, suffered a jolt and collapsed. Dhoni and Vikas were declared dead at a nearby hospital," said Bandlaguda inspector R Devender. Following the incident, police shifted the idol back to Laxmiguda. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo A case under section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (causing death due to negligence) was registered against the organiser of the pandal and others. Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) officials inspected the site on Tuesday and clarified that the idol had not touched the line directly. "There is a 33 kV high-tension line at 23 feet above the road, which means there would have been a gap of about one foot between the idol and the wires. We suspect induction shock. The idol wrapped in a plastic sheet came very close, and those who were in contact might have suffered a jolt. Witnesses said there were sparks, but the line did not trip since there was no direct contact," said TGSPDCL superintending engineer Devarakonda Sreeram Mohan. In the second accident, 18-year-old Ramcharan, a labourer, was setting up a Ganesh pandal in Amberpet late Monday when he accidentally touched an overhead electricity line with a bamboo stick while standing on the pandal structure. "The bamboo was raw, and Ramcharan suffered a jolt. He fell 15ft below, sustaining a severe head injury. Locals rushed him to a private hospital in Kacheguda. He succumbed during treatment on Tuesday evening," Amberpet inspector T Kiran Kumar said. Police registered a case under BNSS Section 194 (suspicious death) based on a complaint from Ramcharan's kin and sent the body for post-mortem.
