Eurovision live updates as Ireland's Emmy battles odds for a spot in the final
The Norwegian singer is proudly representing Ireland with her song Laika Party - a heartfelt tribute to Laika, the Soviet dog who became the first mammal in space back in 1957. Inspired by Laika's tragic story, Emmy reimagined her fate as an endless, joyous party among the stars.
However, Emmy faces tough odds tonight, with bookmakers placing her at 4/6 to miss out on the final and just 11/10 to qualify - ranking behind 11 of the 15 competing nations vying for only 10 final spots.
Joining Ireland are acts from across Europe and beyond, including Finland's Erika Vikman with the high-energy ICH KOMME, Malta's Miriana Conte bringing fierce attitude with SERVING, and Austria's JJ delivering the emotional ballad Wasted Love.
Last year, Ireland impressed with a sixth-place finish thanks to Bambie Thug and their striking performance of Doomsday Blue.

Vienna to host Eurovision Song Contest 2026
Vienna is to host the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest after Austria's act JJ won the 2025 event with his song, Wasted Love, in Basel, Switzerland. The city will become joint fourth on the list of places which have hosted the contest the most times, alongside Copenhagen, Malmo and Stockholm, with Austrian broadcaster ORF hosting the event. Eurovision's 70th final will take place at the city's Wiener Stadthalle arena on May 16, after a bidding process for cities saw officials examine facilities, infrastructure and the ability to accommodate visiting delegations, fans and journalists. Martin Green, director of the Eurovision Song Contest, said: 'The EBU (European Broadcasting Union) is thrilled that Vienna has been selected as the host city for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. 'Vienna's reputation as one of the most musical cities in the world, and its location in the heart of Europe, makes it the perfect host city for the 70th Eurovision Song Contest. 'The city's exceptional Stadthalle was a great venue for the 60th contest in 2015 and we're very much looking forward to welcoming delegations, artists and fans alike back there next May as the world's largest live music event celebrates 70 glorious years of being united by music. 'Together with host broadcaster ORF and the city of Vienna we will create a spectacular celebration of music that will reverberate across the world.' Vienna's City Hall will host the event's opening ceremony on May 10, and go on to host EuroClub, the contest's pop-up, nightlife spot, while the square outside will host the Eurovision Village, an open air screening zone. Mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig, added: 'In Vienna, we can be proud that our city has been selected by the EBU and ORF as the most suitable host city for one of the world's largest events. 'We submitted a convincing overall package with enormous accommodation capacities, excellent infrastructure, and a lot of experience in hosting international events. 'Additionally, we placed great emphasis on offering numerous Eurovision Song Contest events in public spaces that can be visited free of charge. 'As the mayor of Vienna, it is very important to me that cultural events are accessible to everyone, regardless of the size of their wallet. 'As the mayor of Vienna, I am, of course, pleased that Vienna was able to prevail and that Austria can represent itself again next year. We will have a great May together, I am convinced of that.' Further details including ticketing will be released later this year. Eurovision's 2025 final saw Israeli singer Yuval Raphael finish as runner-up, after her team said she was left 'shaken and upset' after pro-Palestinian protesters rushed towards a barrier while she was on stage. Following the incident, Swiss police confirmed two people were handed over to them and that they were later released, while the organiser, Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR, released a statement saying that a crew member was hit with paint but was 'fine'.

90s sitcom star unrecognizable ahead of reunion with castmates from hit show – can you guess who?
A SITCOM legend is set to reunite with one of her most famous co-stars – though you may not recognise her. The show followed the Detroit husband-and-wife duo with their three sons – Brad, Randy and Mark – as Tim hosted his own DIY show, Tool Time. Her role earned her four Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations for best actress in a comedy series. Since the series ended in 1999, Patricia took on a leading role in medical drama Strong Medicine, where she played Dr Andy Campbell for four years. Following that, she had a recurring role in the iconic political series, The West Wing. From there, she's appeared in arcs in Grey's Anatomy, NCIS and The Blacklist. They will be joined by fellow co-stars Richard Karn, who played Al Borland and 'Tool Time Girl' Heidi Keppert star Debbe Dunning in the same episode. Running from 1991 to 1999, Patricia appeared in all 208 episodes of Home Improvement – with an average 34million American homes tuning in, making it the number one sitcom in the country. Tim Allen and Home Improvement co-stars Richard Karn and Debbe Dunning reunite 25 years after popular sitcom ended At the time, she sported a signature brown bob and bangs, and was seen trying to keep the men in her life in line – especially Tim, who she challenged about familial roles in the home. Throughout the course of the show, character Jill went from a stay-at-home mom to a career-focused psychologist, enlisting in school after losing her job as a researcher for a magazine. But she originally was hesitant to take on the most defining role of her career, having given birth to twins shortly before filming for season one began. The team were so desperate to have her on board, they made concessions for her, including a second dressing room for the babies to rest in.
