Watford hope for Chakvetadze return in September
The Hornets playmaker has not been available since April because of what the club describe as a "complex" bone issue in his foot, the result of "overload and repetitive impacts".
Chakvetadze first joined Watford on loan from KAA Gent in the summer of 2023 before making the move permanent and has established himself as one of the best players in the Championship.
The club stated the 25-year-old reported early for pre-season training but the injury is in a "slow-healing area".

A statement continued: "A scan in June showed the issue was still present but less severe, so he was phased progressively back into the main group last month and was scheduled to play some part in the friendly win against Deportivo.
"However, Chakvetadze reported pain after five sessions and, as a precaution, was re-scanned.
"After consultation with industry-leading foot experts, a period of non-impact and work on strength and conditioning only has been advised for six weeks, two of which will be during the first international break."
He will have another scan at the end of that period with a view to re-joining the first-team squad if it is all-clear.
Chakvetadze has made 78 appearances for Watford - who began the new season with a 1-0 defeat by Charlton Athletic - and has scored three goals.

Now, the Lakers have reportedly hired a new strength and conditioning coach, and that hire is someone who has some history with Doncic. His name is Jeremy Holsopple, and he used to be the Dallas Mavericks' athletic performance director. Holsopple apparently got along well with Doncic, and he was named the NBA's Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year in 2021. However, he was fired by the Mavericks shortly after they lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals. This appears to be another example of the Lakers organization looking to cater to Doncic and help him be as happy, healthy and fit as possible. A happy, healthy and fit Doncic is the version of Doncic who would be most capable of leading the team to at least one NBA championship in the coming years. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is headed back to Chicago, Illinois, this weekend (Sat., Aug. 9, 2025), for the first time in a long time. In the main event of UFC 319, UFC Middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis collides with No. 3-ranked contender Khamzat Chimaev in what should be an epic fight for as long as it lasts. It's been more than six years since the Octagon landed inside Chicago's United Center for an event, and the last time the UFC was here — UFC 238 on June 8, 2019 — it produced an awesome card with a couple of memorable fights and one of the most violent knockouts of all time. So with that, let's look back at what happened at UFC 238. That card was headlined by Henry Cejudo, who was chasing history after already holding the Flyweight title. 'Triple C' weathered an early storm from Marlon Moraes, absorbing punishing leg kicks in the opening round before completely flipping the script. By Round 3, Cejudo was in full control, overwhelming Moraes with a barrage of punches, knees, and elbows until the referee stepped in. Cejudo was crowned the new Bantamweight king and a champ-champ. In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko put on a flawless striking display against Jessica Eye. Spending by promoted clubs set to surpass £300m
Once defender Omar Alderete's transfer from Getafe to Sunderland is completed, it will take spending by the three newly promoted clubs to over £300m this summer. Excluding Alderete, the Black Cats have paid out an estimated £122m on 10 players. Burnley have brought in 13 new faces at a cost of approximately £100m, while Leeds United have invested £73.5m on seven signings. There is little doubt that consolidating top-flight status is harder than ever, with the gulf between the Championship and Premier League continuing to widen. In each of the previous two seasons, the three sides that came up went straight back down. As a consequence, clubs are spending ever increasing sums in the hope of remaining competitive, but with no guarantee it will pay off. Southampton, Ipswich Town and Leicester City shelled out a total of £276.5m last summer but together they accumulated just 59 points, the lowest combined figure by newly promoted teams in a 38-game Premier League season.
