CBSE allows students who studied Basic Math in 10th to take Mathematics in 11th

'The relaxation in this rule to continue further for the academic session 2025-26 onward. Thus, Students who offered Mathematics Basic (241) are also allowed to offer Mathematics (041) in class XI. Before permitting Mathematics (041) in class XI to such students, the head of the institution/school should satisfy that the students have the aptitude and ability to pursue Mathematics (041) in class XI,' CBSE said in a statement.

CBSE introduced two levels of Mathematics for the Secondary School Examination from March 2020 – Mathematics (Standard) for those who want to opt for Mathematics (041) at Senior Secondary level and Mathematics (Basic) for those who are not keen on pursuing Mathematics at higher levels.
Those who took Basic Mathematics in Class 10 are allowed to study Applied Mathematics only.
However, the board gave exemption and allowed Basic Mathematics students to study Math in Class 11 because of the COVID 19 pandemic and other issues. This exemption will continue for the 2025-26 academic session as well.

The board requested schools to pass this information to parents and students. The board added that once the subject is filled in the List of Candidates (LOC), it can not be changed later.

PM Narendra Modi NEW DELHI: Emphasising self-reliance as the bedrock of national strength, PM Modi on Friday announced a broad contour of initiatives that will focus on making India secure in different sectors including energy, semiconductor chip manufacturing, critical minerals, digital infrastructure, medicines and fertilisers. He shared that the first 'Made in India' semiconductor chips will come to the market by Dec. "The greater a nation's reliance on others, the more its freedom comes into question. Misfortune arises when depe-ndency becomes a habit, when we do not even realise when we abandon self-reliance and become dependent on others," said Modi, citing an example of a semiconductor idea that came to the table 60 years ago but was "stalled, delayed and shelved". "We lost 50-60 years. Many countries mastered semiconductors and establis-hed their strength," he said. Modi also announced the launch of National Deepwater Exploration Mission to look for oil and gas reserves in the sea and tap ocean resources. The efforts, termed 'Samudra Manthan' by the PM, will go on simultaneously with the push for non-fossil fuel energy. It will complement the Deep Ocean Mission, which involves development of submersibles and deep-sea mining technologies. Modi also announced that India's nuclear energy capacity would increase ten times by 2047. He said work was under way on 10 new reactors. He spoke about National Critical Mineral Mission that aims to secure resources essential for energy, industry, and defence. He stressed the urgent need to produce fertilisers to empower farmers and protect national food security. Highlighting India's strength as the "pharmacy of the world", Modi emphasised the need to invest in research and development. "Shouldn't we be the ones providing the best and most affordable medicines for the welfare of humanity?" he said.

Self-reliance in critical tech crucial for Viksit Bharat, says PM Modi
Clean energy to semiconductors, defence to medicines, space to deep sea, information technology to nuclear energy — Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the importance of self-reliance in critical technologies and scientific research and development in India achieving the objective of becoming a developed nation by 2047. Addressing the 79th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, the PM highlighted the technology initiatives that are underway, like in clean energy and space, and emphasised the need to develop capabilities in areas like semiconductors and fighter jets. '…slavery made us impoverished, and it also rendered us dependent. Our reliance upon others kept increasing. The bedrock of a Viksit Bharat is also a self-reliant Bharat. The greater a nation's reliance on others, the more its freedom comes into question,' Modi said, while making his point about technological self-reliance. He said a made-in-India chip would be available in the market by the end of the year. Modi spoke about the progress being made in harnessing renewable energy sources like solar and wind, the efforts to mine and develop critical minerals, and stressed on the importance of nuclear energy. 'By 2047, when the nation will complete 100 years of Independence — the year we have set as target for achieving the goal of a 'Viksit Bharat' — we are moving forward with the resolve to increase our nuclear energy capacity more than tenfold,' he said. The Prime Minister also mentioned India's Deep Ocean Mission aimed at exploring resources under the sea. His remarks came just a day after it was revealed that two Indian divers, 'aquanauts', recently completed trips up to the depth of about 5,000 metres in the Atlantic Ocean. This is in preparation for the country's 'Samudrayaan Mission' in which three Indian divers are supposed to travel in an India-made vessel to about 6,000 metres below the ocean surface. Modi also spoke about astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla's recent journey to the International Space Station, and India's own Gaganyaan mission which is supposed to send humans into space by 2027. 'And I am very proud of the reforms done in space recently, more than 300 startups of my country are now working only in the space sector and thousands of youth are working with full potential in those 300 startups,' he said. He asked the youth to put in similar energy into other complex technological areas to strengthen the nation as well as generate jobs and revenues. 'My appeal is to the young scientists of my country, to my talented youth, to my engineers and professionals, and also to every government department. Should the jet engine for our Made in India fighter jets be ours or not? We are considered the pharma of the world … Isn't it the need of the hour that we put more energy into research and development, we should have our own patents… The Government of India has formulated the BioE3 policy. I request the youth of the country to come and study the BioE3 policy and take steps,' he said.

I appeal to the youth: step forward and contribute to this mission of national transformation."Gaganyaan will take a crew of three astronauts into a three-day orbit of the earth at an altitude of 400 km in also congratulated astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla on his mission to the International Space Station. He highlighted the impact of space sector reforms, with about 300 startups working in the space leaders welcomed the remarks, saying the momentum could help achieve the target of a $44-billion space economy by 2033. Former ISRO chairman S Somanath, who spearheaded the 2023 space reforms through the Indian Space Policy , told ET that Modi's comments underline how the sector is "not just creating jobs and economic value, but also promoting the scientific temper".
