
Franklin man sentenced to prison, license suspension for 2023 crash that killed trustee
Bryan Day, 31, was sentenced by Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Mary Montgomery to one year in prison, with no possibility of early release, with credit for 39 days already spent in confinement. He will then spend up to two years on parole, and his driver's license will be suspended for 15 years.
Day was charged connected to an April 11, 2023, death of Mark Campbell, 44, of Jamestown. Campbell was elected in 2021 as a trustee for Ross Twp. in Greene County.
According to a West Carrollton Police Department crash report, at around 12:50 p.m. Day was driving a 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck east on East Dixie Drive.
When he was approaching the intersection with Dryden Road, he changed lanes and crashed into the back of Campbell's 2017 Toyota Camry, which was waiting to turn left, the report said.
The pickup truck rolled and came to a stop in the median, while the Camry spun before coming to rest in the intersection.
Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene. Medics took Day to Kettering Health Main Campus for minor injuries.
The crash report said that Day had cannabinoids in his system at the time of the crash.
He was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and reckless homicide, and pleaded guilty as charged.

Two people were injured in a shooting that led to a multi-vehicle crash just after midnight on Sunday in Philadelphia's East Germantown neighborhood, according to police. Investigators said that a gray Toyota Camry was turning onto 21st Street from West Conlyn Street when shots were fired and hit the car. According to police, a 21-year-old man, who was driving the Toyota Camry, was struck in the head. Police said a 20-year-old passenger in the Toyota Camry was shot in the right arm. Two car crash in Solano County kills one person, injures several
One person was killed and several injured in a two car crash on Highway 12 in Solano County on Friday, the CHP said. The crash occurred at 5:03 p.m. when the driver of a tan Toyota Camry tried to pass a big-rig in the eastbound lanes of Highway 12 west of Highway 13 in Rio Vista, according to CHP Sgt. P. Crow. The driver swerved, lost control and entered the westbound lanes of Highway 12 where the Toyota was struck by an oncoming Nissan Pathfinder. The Toyota driver died at the scene and the passengers in the Nissan were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. KCRA-TV reported that the Nissan was carrying four occupants. The highway remained closed as the CHP investigated the crash. Lanes reopened at about 9:30 p.m.
