The Michigan men's basketball team continues its
NCAA Tournament
appearance on Friday when it takes on Auburn in a Sweet 16 matchup in the South region.
The No. 5 seed Wolverines (27-9) face the No. 1 seed Auburn Tigers (30-5) in Atlanta, Georgia. The winner will take on either No. 2 seed Michigan State (29-6) face the No. 6 seed Ole Miss (24-11) Sunday in an Elite 8 game.

Michigan has claimed one national championship when it downed Seton Hall 80-79 in overtime in the 1989 title game. The Wolverines also posted runner-up finishes in 1992, 1993, 2013 and 2018, but had to vacate their 1992 and 1993 Final Four runs because of an NCAA violations scandal involving booster Ed Martin.
The Wolverines have made 31 NCAA Tournament appearances and eight Final Four appearances (1964, 1965, 1976, 1989, 1992, 1993, 2013 and 2018). Michigan's first tournament bid came back in 1948.
Michigan has posted a 68-30 record (including wins later vacated by the NCAA) in the NCAA Tournament. The Wolverines have reached at least the Sweet 16 round in each of their last five NCAA tournament appearances.
FanDuel Sportsbook projects Auburn as an 8.5-point favorite. The over/under is set at 154.5.
This marks the third meeting between the two schools. The all-time series is tied at 1-1.
Michigan senior center and transfer Vladislav Goldin leads the Wolverines with 16.8 points per game, while fellow big man Danny Wolf averages nearly 10 rebounds per game.
Auburn senior forward Johni Broome paces five Tigers in double figures with 18.5 points and 10.7 boards per game.

Oklahoma Sooners kickoff times announced for 2025 season Kickoff times for the Oklahoma Sooners 2025 season were released on Wednesday. Six of the team's regular-season games have exact times; another two are labeled as early games, and four remain in flex with an opportunity to be in primetime windows. Early kickoff times are scheduled for either 11 a.m. or noon CT. The flex games are open to network discretion and will kick at either in the 2:30/3 p.m. window or the primetime window between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. CT. Two of Oklahoma's biggest games on the schedule, against Michigan and Texas, are locked in. Detroit Tigers rookie right-hander Jackson Jobe will undergo Tommy John surgery, the team announced Wednesday evening. Jobe entered the season ranked as The Athletic's No. 11 overall prospect, and posted a 4.22 ERA through his first 10 starts, enduring learning lessons but also showing flashes of elite stuff. Jobe went on the injured list after his May 28th outing with what the team called a Grade 1 flexor strain in his right arm. Jobe had pitched 4 2/3 innings against the San Francisco Giants, surrendering three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts against three walks. Advertisement His velocity was down across the board, as he averaged 1.4 mph less than his season average on his fastball and 1.8 mph less than average on his sinker. Concern only heightened when Jobe did not talk to reporters and was not seen at all after the game. The Tigers initial medical review alleviated concern for the worst. The Grade 1 diagnosis indicated the strain was mild, though it could still take as long as two months for Jobe to return to play. Further medical evaluation revealed worse damage to Jobe's ulnar collateral ligament, prompting the need for surgery. So now the Tigers are down a starter. And one of baseball's most promising young pitchers will miss the remainder of his rookie season and quite possibly most, if not all, of next year, too.
