Watana News05-02-2025
Orange Jordan started off the year on a high note taking a quantum leap in the customer experience arena with the launch of its first-of-a-kind application 'Max it', serving as an All-in-One super app. The launch took place during a press conference organized under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Eng. Sami Smeirat. This step while embodying 'Orange is Here', reveals the 'one application for everything' concept to customers elevating their whole experience in unprecedented ways. The launch was announced during a press conference that was attended by the Orange's executive management and media representatives.
The all-in-one new super app enables customers to manage My Orange, jood, Roamkit, Weinak, and Orange Money in one place. It was designed to serve the purpose of being their destination for the new features including multi-line management and the marketplace where customers can explore and purchase Orange's products including the non-telco products, in addition to the reward feature.
The CEO of Orange Jordan, Philippe Mansour, emphasized that this launch further solidifies Orange's position as the true responsible digital leader. The super app 'Max it' will be reshaping the future of customers' experience as they will no longer need to download more than one application to manage their multiple requirements. Furthermore, Orange's customers and other networks' subscribers will be benefiting from the new application and its revolutionary features.
Mansour also expressed his pride in Orange's vision that is coupled with the team's continued efforts and the global expertise to transform the whole experience of the customers in Jordan. The result is nothing but a breakthrough in the digital scene.
Given Orange's belief that the educational part should go hand in hand with the new products and services, it conducted a panel discussion on the sidelines of the press conference. Experts from Orange discussed the advantages of the application in detail and how customers can smoothly transition to it without affecting their current experience. They also shed light on the company's future plans with regard to the application, in particular and the customer experience in general.
It is worth mentioning that Max it, which embodies Orange's spirit of innovation in Africa and the Middle East, has already been launched in several countries and will soon be expanded to other countries where Orange is present in the region.

ChatGPT's mobile app has generated $2B to date

Ammon News - ChatGPT's mobile app is raking in the revenue. Since launching in May 2023, ChatGPT's app for iOS and Android devices has reached $2 billion in global consumer spending, according to a new analysis by app intelligence provider Appfigures. That figure is approximately 30x the combined lifetime spending of ChatGPT's rivals on mobile, including Claude, Copilot, and Grok, the analysis indicates. So far this year, ChatGPT's mobile app has made $1.35 billion, up 673% year-over-year from the $174 million it made during the same period (January-July) in 2024, per the data. On average, the app is generating close to $193 million per month, up from $25 million last year. That's significantly higher — or about 53x higher — than ChatGPT's next nearest competitor, Grok, which made approximately $25.6 million this year to date. Grok's average monthly consumer spending is estimated at $3.6 million, or 1.9% of ChatGPT's. This data suggests that other consumer chatbots still have a way to go to catch up with ChatGPT's dominance on mobile devices, even if the numbers don't provide a complete picture of the AI companies' overall revenue. Consumers, teams, and businesses can also subscribe to AI plans on the web, and the companies generate revenue in other ways, too, like via their APIs. Rather, this new data offers a window into the apps' traction with consumers, who discover and pay for these AI assistants via the mobile app stores. It's also worth noting that when xAI's Grok launched in November 2023 (after ChatGPT), Grok didn't initially have stand-alone iOS or Android apps. Instead, users interacted with the AI chatbot through the X platform. Grok only became available on mobile devices through its own iOS app as of early January 2025 and has been on Google Play since March 4. Still, ChatGPT's lifetime global spending per download is $2.91, compared to Claude's $2.55, Grok's $0.75, and Copilot's $0.28, Appfigures found. In the U.S., ChatGPT's spending per download to date is even higher, at $10, leading the market to account for 38% of the app's revenue to date. Germany is the second-largest market, accounting for 5.3% of ChatGPT's lifetime total spending. ChatGPT's lead can also be seen in terms of downloads. To date, the app has been installed an estimated 690 million times globally, compared with Grok's 39.5 million. (That puts X owner Elon Musk's recent complaints about the App Store's alleged favoritism of ChatGPT in its Top Charts into better context.) Average monthly downloads of ChatGPT globally are now at approximately 45 million, up 180% from about 16 million in January through July of 2024. In 2025 so far, ChatGPT's app has been downloaded 318 million times, or 2.8x more than the 113 million it saw during the same period last year. By the number of installs, however, India is the top market, accounting for 13.7% of lifetime downloads, compared with second place, the U.S., which accounted for 10.3% of all downloads. TechCrunch

Elon Musk says he's suing Apple for rigging App Store rankings

Ammon News - Elon Musk says that his artificial intelligence company xAI 'will take immediate legal action' against Apple for allegedly manipulating its App Store rankings to the advantage of rival AI apps. In a series of X posts on Monday night, Musk suggested that Apple was 'playing politics' by not placing either X or xAI's Grok chatbot in the App Store's list of recommended iOS apps, and that he had no choice but to file a lawsuit. 'Apple is behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store, which is an unequivocal antitrust violation,' Musk said. 'Why do you refuse to put either X or Grok in your 'Must Have' section when X is the #1 news app in the world and Grok is #5 among all apps?,' the xAI CEO asked Apple in another post, which is now pinned to his profile. Musk provided no evidence for his claims, and it's unclear if he has made good on his threats and filed the lawsuit yet. An Apple statement reported by Bloomberg and attributed to an unnamed spokesperson says the App Store is 'designed to be fair and free of bias… we feature thousands of apps through charts, algorithmic recommendations and curated lists selected by experts using objective criteria.' The Verge has also reached out to xAI and OpenAI for comment. At the time of writing, ChatGPT is listed as Apple's top free iPhone app in the US, with Grok ranked as the sixth. China's DeepSeek AI briefly managed to take the top App Store position from ChatGPT in January, however, disproving Musk's claim that it would be impossible for other AI apps to do so. Accusations of meddling from Musk are ironic, given allegations about alterations made to X after he acquired the company in 2022, then known as Twitter. A research study in 2024 suggested that X's algorithm was manipulated to boost posts from Musk's account. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman responded to Musk's posts by sharing a Platformer report from 2023 that similarly found Musk had a system built to promote his X posts to the entire platform's userbase. In June, the 'maximally truth-seeking' Grok chatbot was also found to be consulting Musk's opinion before providing answers to controversial questions around topics like Israel and Palestine, US immigration, and abortion. This isn't the first time that Musk has beefed with Apple and OpenAI. Musk was an early founder at OpenAI, and previously targeted the AI startup via lawsuits and a unanimously rejected $97.4 billion buyout offer after taking issue with its pivot to being a profit-driven business. Following OpenAI's partnership with Apple to integrate ChatGPT into iPhones, iPads, and Macs last year, Musk threatened to ban Apple devices at his companies if OpenAI's tech was fused with Apple's OS. Threads surpassed 400 million monthly active users

Ammon News - Just two years since its launch as a competitor to Twitter (now X), Meta's Threads has topped 400 million monthly active users (MAUs), Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced on Tuesday. 'As of a few weeks ago [there are] more than 400 million people active on Threads every month,' Mosseri wrote. 'It's been quite the ride over the last two years. This started as a zany idea to compete with Twitter, and has evolved into a meaningful platform that fosters the open exchange of perspectives. I'm grateful to all of you for making this place what it is today. There's so much work to do from our side, more to come.' The new milestone means that Threads was able to add 50 million monthly users in the past quarter, as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had announced in the last week of April that the platform had reached more than 350 million monthly active users. X, meanwhile, has north of 600 million monthly active users, according to previous statements made by its former CEO, Linda Yaccarino. Recent data from market intelligence provider Similarweb showed that Threads is nearing X's daily app users on mobile devices. In June 2025, Threads' mobile app for iOS and Android saw 115.1 million daily active users, marking a 127.8% increase compared to the previous year. On the other hand, X reached 132 million daily active users, reflecting a 15.2% year-over-year decline. However, Similarweb found that X's worldwide daily web visits are well ahead of Threads, as the Elon Musk-owned social network saw 145.8 million average daily web visits worldwide in June, while Threads had just 6.9 million.
