
Initial schedule for new QSL season announed

Defending champions Al Sadd will lock horns with Qatar SC in the opening week while Al Rayyan will play the opener against Al Sailiya when the Qatar Stars League season 2025-26 kicks-off on August 14, the QSL announced on Sunday.
The schedule for the first leg of the new season has been announced with air-conditioned stadiums hosting the first six weeks of the 22-week league.
For now, the dates, venues and match times of the first three weeks' games have been set.
The schedule will be updated from Weeks 4 to 11, following the draw for the 2025-26 AFC Champions League Elite, AFC Champions League Two, and the Gulf Club Champions League besides the programme of the Qatar national team.
QSL stated, there will be coordination with clubs participating in overseas tournaments and their matches rescheduled on specified dates in the calendar, to support them in all their participations.
Al Sadd won the title last season finishwing with 52 points, two points ahead Al Duhail (50 points), while Al Gharafa ended up as third with 41 points.

Al Rayyan, seven others clubs to compete in Gulf Club Champions League 2025-26
QNA Doha Eight clubs including Qatar's Al Rayyan will be participating in the Gulf Club Champions League 2025-2026, it was announced by the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF) on Monday. Iraqi club Duhok SC had won the inaugural edition of the Gulf Club Champions League defeating Kuwait's Al Qadisiyah SC 2-1 in the second leg of the final, following a goalless draw in the first leg.

Al Rayyan to represent Qatar in Gulf Champions League
QNA Doha The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced that Al Rayyan Club has been selected to participate in the Gulf Champions League. The federation stated on its 'X' platform account that Al Rayyan will represent Qatari football in the regional competition for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Al Rayyan was selected to participate in the tournament after finishing fifth in the 2024-2025 Ooredoo Stars League. The club will participate alongside seven other clubs approved by the Gulf Cup Federation to participate in the next edition of the tournament: Al Shabab of Saudi Arabia, Al Ain of the UAE, Al Qadisiyah of Kuwait, Al Nahda of Oman, Zakho of Iraq, Al Tadamon Hadramaut of Yemen, and Sitra of Bahrain. The tournament will kick off in October, preceded by a draw, which will divide the teams into two groups, with the first and second place winners from each group qualifying for the semi-finals. Iraqi club Duhok holds the title of the previous edition of the tournament after they beat Kuwaiti club Al Qadisiyah in the final.

Athletic Bilbao's Djalo likely for Al Gharafa Alvaro Djalo of Athletic Club Bilbao has been given permission to travel to Qatar to discuss a loan deal with Qatari outfit Al Gharafa. "Athletic Club has granted him permission to travel to Qatar so that he can make progress in his talks for a possible loan move to Al Gharafa SC," confirmed the club on its social media sites on Tuesday. 25-year-old Djalo joined Athletic Bilbao from Sporting Braga a year ago for 15 million euros, becoming the third most expensive signing in the club's history. Al Gharafa's squad is currently training in Slovakia ahead of the Qatar Stars League which starts August 14.
