Goldendoodle Dropped at Groomer With Matted Ears—No One Prepared for Result

A North Carolina groomer's routine haircut for a goldendoodle has unexpectedly delighted viewers online, turning his simple trim into a viral moment, thanks to the stark contrast in how the canine looked before and after the visit.
The TikTok video, shared by Sarah White under @charlottedoggrooming on June 6, shows a dog named Jett at his grooming appointment. Initially shaggy in a way that is typical for his breed, Jett emerges nearly unrecognizable after having his ears shaved due to matting.
"What a doodle with shaved ears looks like," an overlaid text on the video read. More than 259,000 people have watched the video to date, with several viewers voicing their amusement at the dramatic transformation in the comments.
White, 28, told Newsweek that Jett's owners trusted her judgment on the grooming approach. Shaving his ears was necessary for his comfort and hygiene—but the result took everyone by surprise, including White.
"It unexpectedly sparked a really adorable and wholesome response," White said. "So many doodle owners started sharing photos of their own dogs with shaved ears.
"It turned into a lighthearted, feel-good thread of proud pet parents showing off their pups!"

Goldendoodles, a popular hybrid of golden retrievers and poodles, are known for their thick, curly coats, which can easily become matted if not maintained with regular grooming. While shaved ears may not be the standard look for the breed, Jett's new appearance seemed to charm viewers on TikTok rather than shock them.
"My [favorite] but my clients never want to," one viewer posted.
"I love short ears on dogs, that makes them look so much younger," another added.
"Love a short ear, very silky," a third viewer shared.
"We call these Dorito ears, and I love them," one viewer said.
"I'm actually not mad at this," another commented.
White, who has been a pet groomer for six years, runs a mobile nail-trimming business with her husband called N.E.A.T Mobile and also offers full grooming services at home.
"It has been really heartwarming to see the community engage so positively," White said. "Getting that many likes was not planned, but I am so glad it happened with something that brought smiles and good energy.
"As a groomer, I love when a simple transformation can spark joy, and in this case, it definitely did!"
White added that the reaction from Jett's owners was just as rewarding as the public response.
"The owners were ecstatic when they came to pick him up afterwards," she said.

Anne Burrell Food Network Announcement Branded 'Tone-Deaf' After Death
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Food Network is facing criticism online following its recent social media post featuring late chef Anne Burrell. Newsweek contacted a Food Network spokesperson via email for comment on Tuesday. The Context Burrell, 55—who was the longtime host of Food Network's Worst Cooks in America—was found dead at her home in Brooklyn, New York on June 17. A New York City Police Department spokesperson told Newsweek at the time that "EMS responded and pronounced the female deceased at the scene" following a 911 call alerting authorities of a possible cardiac arrest. The celebrity chef's cause of death was "suicide," according to the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner. Chef Anne Burrell presents onstage during Food Network and Cooking Channel's New York City Wine and Food Festival at Pier 94 on October 13, 2018 in New York City. Chef Anne Burrell presents onstage during Food Network and Cooking Channel's New York City Wine and Food Festival at Pier 94 on October 13, 2018 in New York NYCWFF What To Know On Monday, the Food Network posted teaser photos with Burrell on Instagram to promote the latest episode of Worst Cooks in America. Fans argued, however, that the caption was "tone-deaf" for not mentioning the spunky television personality. "It's showtime! The recruits step up to the spotlight in the first-ever Boot Camp Culinary Pageant!" it reads. "Competing head-to-head, they show off their kitchen skills in hopes of being crowned Mister or Miss Boot Camp. Watch a new episode of #WorstCooks TONIGHT at 9|8c!" Season 29 of Worst Cooks in America debuted on July 28 and is Burrell's final season. She rose to fame as a sous chef on Iron Chef America, and hosted her own Emmy-nominated series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. On Worst Cooks in America, the New York native mentored amateur cooks. What People Are Saying Instagram user @juliecordora wrote in a note with 917 likes: "If you are going to run the show, every caption should have a respectful note about the loss of Anne." @chlibby_823 said in a comment with 574 likes: "Another tone deaf post and still no tribute like she deserves. It's obvious you haven't listened to any of the thousands of posts from her fans. Very disappointing." @alyssalaurenarndt remarked in a response with 430 likes: "This is so distasteful. Have some care and decency for Anne and her family." @shannonekeeley said: "This is such an odd caption, in my opinion. At least acknowledge Anne and her legacy in the caption- this is not an 'everyday' type of season premiere and Food Network knows that." @kileydashiell stated in a note: "WORST CAPTION EVER." @markymarkntuc posted in a reply: "Wow who's running your social media? I'll apply for the job with zero experience and still do a better job. Have some class." @sherrieoh said: "It's shocking to see @foodnetwork air the final season without recognizing @chefanneburrell contributions. The omission in the caption is particularly notable. It's disappointing to say the least." Say Yes to the Dress star Randy Fenoli wrote: "I miss my friend." On Facebook, other fans defended the Food Network's decision to air the series. Melissa Thompson said in a post with 165 positive reactions: "It is bittersweet watching knowing Chef Anne is no longer here but I am enjoying seeing her doing what she loved one last time." Britani Joanne Lake shared: "I'll definitely be watching in honor of Anne. no need to cry about 'not watching it.' that's your prerogative." Eric Schlegel wrote: "I've never experienced this. Wanting so bad to see something and dreading it at the same time. To see this last gift Anne left us but knowing it's the last. No one will ever fill that void she left. We love you Anne." What Happens Next New episodes of Worst Cooks in America Season 29 with Burrell air Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on the Food Network. Owner Takes Dog to Beach—No One Expected Where the Day Would End
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The phrase "a dog's life" typically refers to a life that is unpleasant, miserable, or difficult. But, for many pets today, that couldn't be further from the truth. Take Hershey, for example—a Maltipoo whose recent beach trip went viral on TikTok, racking up more than 3.4 million views in just one day (August 4). The heartwarming footage shared to @minihersheybar.k shows the 4-year-old canine pulling hard on his lead as he heads toward the beach in Nice, France. The text layered over the video reads, "this is what happens when you say yes to your dog." But it wasn't just a beach day he was after—Hershey wanted the full experience, and that's exactly what he got. The next few scenes show him peering over a wall at a beach club filled with sunbeds and blue-and-white umbrellas. It isn't long before Hershey runs toward the stairs "on a mission," as noted in the caption. Soon, the owner and dog secure a front-row bed by the sea, allowing him to admire the scenery and relax to the sound of the waves. Hershey appears to be loving life in a straw hat, and the owner said the pup even smiled the "entire time." During their five-hour stay, he enjoyed snacks and naps, and protected his eyes from the sun with pink sunglasses. The wholesome content was a huge hit online, gathering 709,300 likes at the time of writing. The video, captioned "The guy knows what he wants," has 2,430 comments. "I saw a post that said 'your dog's world is only as big as you allow it to be,' and that has drastically changed how often I take my dogs on adventures," said one user. Another wrote: "Little dude teaching you have to take some time out." A third posted: "Hershey likes it there because he gets so much sensory enrichment from the onshore breeze." TongTa/iStock / Getty Images Plus Indeed, there is so much for dogs to enjoy at the beach. While Hershey likes to relax, there are many engaging activities that blend exercise, exploration, and play, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC). A simple walk along the shore lets your dog take in new sights and smells, like sniffing seaweed or watching crabs—just be sure they don't eat the seaweed or sand, which can be harmful. For more active fun, you can play fetch on the sand or in shallow water using a brightly colored floating toy, always mindful to choose a quiet spot and stay close to the shore. Splashing in the waves can be exhilarating, but it is important to monitor your dog's energy levels to prevent overexertion. Confident swimmers might enjoy learning to surf or balance on a boogie board, which also helps build agility. Swimming can be introduced gently, with a life jacket and patience, while constant supervision remains essential—even for experienced dogs. You can also try boating together in calm waters with proper safety gear, or let your dog indulge their love of digging by playing in the sand or knocking down sandcastles. Whatever you choose, the beach can be a joyful place for dogs—just keep safety and courtesy in mind. Newsweek reached out to @minihersheybar.k for comment via email.
