As the Indian team gears up for the fifth and final Test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, preparations are in full swing at The Oval, where the high-stakes clash begins on July 31.
With the series currently standing at 2-1 in England's favour, India must win to level the series and avoid a disappointing defeat.
However, Team India is dealing with multiple injury setbacks. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the game, while wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been ruled out due to a toe fracture. In response, the selectors have roped in Narayan Jagadeesan as a batting cover.
Amid these concerns, a familiar face returned to the Indian camp during their practice session — Deepak Chahar.
The former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer, who has not featured in the Indian Test squad before, was seen training with the team, though not in official kit. TimesofIndia.com reporter Sahil Malhotra shared a video showing Chahar with the squad.
Watch:
The series has been a dramatic contest so far. England drew first blood with a five-wicket win in the opening Test, but India roared back with a stunning victory in the second match at Edgbaston.

With the series hanging in the balance, both sides are feeling the pressure. England, led by Ollie Pope in Ben Stokes' absence (shoulder injury), has named its playing XI, making four changes.
Stokes, Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse, and Liam Dawson are out, replaced by Jacob Bethell, Jamie Overton, Josh Tongue, and Gus Atkinson.
All eyes now turn to The Oval, where India, under Shubman Gill's leadership, must fight to finish strong.

'Genuinely worried': Chris Woakes reveals Shubman Gill's comment after gutsy effort with injured shoulder, calls draw a 'fair' result

NEW DELHI: England pacer has opened up about the dramatic final day of the fifth Test against India at The Oval, where he walked out to bat despite a serious shoulder injury. In a candid chat with The Guardian, Woakes shared the pain and emotion behind that courageous moment, and revealed how India captain praised him for his bravery. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. Woakes had injured his shoulder while fielding on Day 1 and did not take part in the match afterward, until England were nine wickets down, needing 17 more runs to pull off a historic chase. To the crowd's roaring applause, Woakes emerged from the pavilion with his arm strapped, determined to support Gus Atkinson. Poll Do you think Chris Woakes showed exceptional bravery by batting with a shoulder injury? Yes, absolutely No, it was not wise Maybe, depending on the situation "The first one was the worst. All I had taken was codeine and it was just so sore. Instinct took over here – even with my arm strapped down I tried to run as you naturally do. I genuinely worried my shoulder had popped back out again, hence you saw me throw my helmet off, rip the glove off with my teeth, and check it was OK," Woakes recalled. Ben Stokes press conference: On Mohammed Siraj, Chris Woakes batting with injury, 2-2 result Ultimately, Atkinson was bowled and Woakes never faced a ball. But the crowd stood up, and so did the Indian team in appreciation. After the match, Gill walked over to Woakes. 'Shubman said something like: 'That was incredibly brave.' I told him: 'You've had an unbelievable series, well played, and credit to your team.' Both sets of players had been through the mill in the series and deserve credit for the show we put on. Both teams wanted the win, of course, but it does kind of feel fair that it was drawn,' Woakes added. Woakes said he felt devastated not to get the fairytale finish. 'I'm still gutted, devastated really, that we couldn't get the fairytale. But I never considered not going out there, even if it had been 100 runs still to win. It was nice to have the ovation and some of the Indian players came over to show their respect. But any other player would have done the same. You couldn't just call it off at nine wickets down,' he said.

'Thrown that thing in the trash': Travis Kelce doesn't dwell on defeats, says he's mentally ready for a fresh new season

Travis Kelce gets candid about Super Bowl loss, says he's mentally ready for a fresh new season (Getty Images) After a humbling defeat in Super Bowl LIX, most players might still carry the sting into a new season. But not Travis Kelce . As the Kansas City Chiefs regroup for another shot at glory, their star tight end has made it clear: the past is behind him, and he's laser-focused on what lies ahead. Entering his 13th NFL season, Kelce is embracing the grind with renewed energy and a championship mindset that continues to define his legendary career. Travis Kelce throws Super Bowl LIX loss 'in the trash' as he eyes a powerful Chiefs comeback Travis Kelce isn't letting the blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles define the offseason narrative. 'I've thrown that thing in the trash,' he said candidly, as reported by ESPN's Nate Taylor. 'I've moved on. It happened sooner than you can imagine. I was pretty focused on this year in the offseason.' Chiefs Steve Spagnuolo and Select Players Speak to the Media at Training Camp | AUGUST 6, 2025 That mental shift seems to have done wonders for the soon-to-be 36-year-old. Rather than sulking in the shadows of what could've been a historic three-peat, Kelce is leading by example. According to Taylor, he hasn't missed a single offseason practice and has consistently been one of the Chiefs' most active participants in training camp. "You've got to go through the dog days and enjoy it for what it is, man," Kelce said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Unsold 2022 Cars Now Almost Free - Prices May Surprise You Unsold Cars | Search Ads Learn More Undo "We're rocking and rolling, man. It's training camp, so you're going to feel the soreness and the heavy workload you're getting every day. You've got to enjoy it for what it is and fight through that." Head coach Andy Reid couldn't help but praise his commitment: 'He's svelte right now. He looks like he's 20... I'm not sure he didn't come in first on the whole conditioning thing.' Reid emphasized just how much effort Kelce has put in, noting, 'You can see he's been working out. He's worked hard to get to this spot.' Chiefs is ready and all-in for 2025 With 10 Pro Bowl nods, three Super Bowl rings, and numerous franchise records under his belt, Kelce's résumé speaks volumes. But accolades aren't what keep him going—his passion for the game does. 'Football has always been the biggest driving force I've ever had,' Kelce reflected. 'I love coming out here and focusing on this and getting better for another run at hopefully a Super Bowl.' This season, he's again living in the Missouri Western State University dorms during training camp—a gesture that reflects his deep-rooted commitment to team culture. 'I love it here. It gets me away from everything else that's going on in this crazy world,' Kelce added. 'You can really just focus in on your craft.' The Chiefs may have missed the history books with the failed three-peat, but if Kelce's mindset is any indication, Kansas City's dynasty is far from done. 'Held back when team needed more': Former India pacer questions Jasprit Bumrah's impact in drawn England series

India captain Shubman Gill with pacer Jasprit Bumrah. NEW DELHI: India's hard-fought 2-2 series draw against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy produced numerous standout performances, but not everyone lived up to the billing. Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan expressed disappointment in Jasprit Bumrah 's performance, despite the pacer finishing as one of the top wicket-takers in the series. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Bumrah featured in only three of the five Tests due to workload management. While he returned with 14 wickets at an average of 26.00 — including two five-wicket hauls — Pathan felt Bumrah lacked the killer instinct in crucial moments. Poll How would you rate Jasprit Bumrah's performance in the recent series against England? Outstanding Good Average Below Expectations 'Bumrah will get six out of ten,' Pathan said on his YouTube channel. 'When you're a senior player, there is a lot of responsibility to win matches. He played three Tests, and India didn't win any of them.' Citing specific examples, Pathan pointed to the series opener where Bumrah took five wickets in the first innings but failed to pick up a single in the second while defending a sizeable total of 370. Inside The Oval: An Exclusive Tour of the Stadium Where India Played the Final Test 'At that crucial time, your main match-winner has to find a way — over the wicket, around the wicket, yorkers, slower balls, bouncers — anything to create pressure. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo That didn't happen. In the Leeds Test, we did not see that pressure being built. England ended up scoring heavily, and Bumrah did not take a single wicket,' he added. The former pacer also noted Bumrah's reluctance to stretch spells when India needed breakthroughs. 'There were moments, like when a sixth over was needed. Joe Root had been dismissed by him 11 times, and in that Lord's Test, Bumrah bowled just five overs. That one more over could've pushed harder. I felt he held back.' While acknowledging Bumrah's name going up on the Lord's honours board, Pathan stressed that the world's top-ranked Test bowler is held to a higher standard. 'He took a five-wicket haul and got his name on the Lord's honours board. But when you are the number one bowler, there is an expectation of number one-level performance, and I felt he did not quite live up to that.'
