Raghunath Murmu's residence will be made a memorial: CM
Majhi announced this during a function marking the centenary celebration of the invention of Ol Chiki script for Santhali language and the 120th birth anniversary of Pandit Raghunath Murmu. The function was held at Mahuldiha in Mayurbhanj district.
Pandit Murmu invented the Ol Chiki script in 1925, which consists of 30 letters and is used to write and promote Santhali literature and culture. Majhi said Pandit Murmu's residence and Samadhi Peeth would be developed into memorials, and the State government would commemorate the Ol Chiki centenary throughout the year.
The package will also be used to set up of an Ol Chiki library in Baripada, Pandit Raghunath Murmu open theatre-museum and a heritage building at Murmu's workplace. Majhi said an international seminar would be organised in Delhi to promote Santhali language on a global platform, which is likely to be attended by President Droupadi Murmu.
While lauding Pandit Murmu's contributions to tribal culture, language and literature, Majhi said, 'Pandit Murmu's life was not just that of an individual—he was a movement, a consciousness, a craft and a culture of knowledge.'
The State government is committed to preserving, promoting and expanding the Ol Chiki script, created by Pandit Murmu a century ago, he added.
'Murmu's invention was not just merely a change in vocabulary, but a new chapter in the evolution of culture,' the Chief Minister said. Majhi further said the State government would advance this legacy by setting up Santhali language institutions in primary education, produce textbooks, train teachers and create language development centres.
The Chief Minister said Pandit Murmu was not only a promoter of knowledge and education, but also a personality who revealed the inner values of this land. 'Our government has organised various programmes in the name of Pandit Raghunath Murmu,' he said
The Chief Minister also felicitated Santhali language researcher Chunda Soren with the Guru Gomke International Award carrying a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. A souvenir on Pandit Murmu's life was unveiled, and his descendant Chuniyan Murmu and Padma Shri recipient Damayanti Beshra were also honoured.
Odisha ministers Suryabanshi Suraj, Krushna Chandra Mahapatra and Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia lauded Pandit Murmu's legacy.

MP cabinet approves statewide Geeta Bhavans to promote cultural, spiritual learning
Bhopal: In a significant decision aimed at deepening cultural roots and expanding access to spiritual education, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday approved the construction of Geeta Bhavans across all urban local bodies in the state. The initiative, which carries a budgetary provision of Rs 100 crore, will be implemented over the next five years. 'As our chief minister had announced to construct Geeta Bhavans in each district. The state cabinet on Tuesday approved the scheme, and all district collectors have been asked to provide land on a token amount of Rs 1 only if land is not available with urban bodies. The scheme is for five years, which means all the districts will have Geeta Bhavan within five years," Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said here after the cabinet meeting. He described the Geeta Bhavan concept as 'unique and inclusive,' noting that the halls will be available free of cost to social, religious, and cultural organisations. To ensure financial sustainability, each Bhavan will include commercial extensions such as shops and service centres. 'Some districts can construct these Geeta Bhavans on a PPP mode, as funding size has not been decided yet,' he said. Each Geeta Bhavan will serve as a community hub for religious study, cultural events, and spiritual discourse. The halls will feature libraries and e-libraries stocked with literature on Indian philosophy, the Bhagavad Gita, and other sacred texts. Facilities will also include auditoriums, cafeterias, and refreshment centres, with seating capacities ranging from 250 to 1,500, depending on the size of the urban body. The architecture of the Bhavans will reflect traditional Madhya Pradesh styles, incorporating local art and murals. Municipal bodies may also collaborate with private partners for construction and maintenance, allowing for flexible implementation across diverse regions. Officials said the initiative will not only provide a permanent venue for spiritual and cultural gatherings but also create employment opportunities and foster a deeper connection between youth and India's philosophical heritage. Religious organisations and literary groups have welcomed the move, calling it a timely investment in the state's cultural infrastructure. With the cabinet's green light and budgetary backing, Madhya Pradesh's Geeta Bhavan network is poised to become a cornerstone of community life and spiritual engagement across the state.

MP to launch Rs 371 crore electronics manufacturing cluster for R&D
In a boost to India's electronics and semiconductor ambitions, Madhya Pradesh is set to establish a state-of-the-art Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) with an investment of Rs 371 crore, aimed at advancing research and development in the sector. The Government of India has granted in-principle approval for the project, which will be jointly funded by the Centre and the state government. Madhya Pradesh will contribute Rs 225 crore, while Rs 146 crore will come from the central allocation, Kailash Vijayvargiya, the urban development minister, said here on Tuesday, announcing the cabinet decision. The EMC is expected to be a transformative step for science and technology in the region, providing a dedicated platform for innovation, testing, and product development. According to officials, the cluster will include advanced facilities such as testing and calibration labs, CAD/CAM design houses, tool rooms, and EMI/EMC centres, enabling engineering graduates and budding scientists to engage in cutting-edge research. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, who has been championing the state's semiconductor and electronics policy, emphasised that the cluster will bridge the gap between academic institutions and industry. 'We have several engineering colleges, but they lack the infrastructure and mentorship needed to channel talent into meaningful innovation. This cluster will offer our young scientists the opportunity to work on real-world R&D projects,' Vijayavargiya said. Earlier during the Global Investors Summit 2025, the chief minister had said the EMC will be part of a broader push under the Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Policy-2025, which aims to attract Rs 2,700 crore in investments over five years and generate over 14,000 jobs. The policy includes capital investment subsidies, concessional land, and power tariff support to incentivise companies to set up operations in the state. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, speaking at the summit, noted that Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a key player in India's electronics manufacturing ecosystem. With two EMCs already approved in Bhopal and Jabalpur, and over 85 companies active in the sector, the state is poised to become a hub for domestic and export-oriented electronics production. Amit Shah 'ultimately responsible' for ₹50,000 cr alleged land scam: Raut
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday flagging an alleged Rs 50,000 crore land scam in Maharashtra's Raigad, claiming that around 4,078 acres of forest land was illegally transferred to the Bivalkar family by the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO). UBT's Raut has alleged collusion between the state government's revenue, Urban development department, CIDCO officials and ministers to provide this parcel of land to the family. Raut also held the Union Minister Amit Shah, the state's CIDCO Chairman Sanjay Shirsat, and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde responsible for the alleged scam. "This scam, executed through the collusion of the Revenue department, Urban development department, CIDCO officials, and minister, has defrauded both the government and the public. As you are ultimately responsible for this, I am addressing this letter to you," Raut wrote in a letter addressed to Shah, which was posted on X. "I demand, on behalf of the project-affected people of Raigad district, that SHinde and Shirsat be sacked from cabinet and that a case be registered regarding this Rs 50,000 crore land scam, with an investigation conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED)," he added. He further took a jibe at the Union HM for backtracking on their promise of rooting out corruption, alleging that investigative agencies are shielding corruption instead. Raut, in the letter to Shah mentioned that both Shinde and Shirsat have allegedly pocketed Rs 20,000 crore, and have also implied giving Rs 10,000 crore to the Union Home Minister. Calling Shah as the "head of Shinde's party," Raut wrote, "In Maharashtra, the Urban Development Department and CIDCO have been involved in a Rs 50,000 crore land scam, where urban development minister Eknath Shinde and former CIDCO Chairman Sanjay Shirsat have allegedly pocketed at least Rs 20,000 crore. It is openly claimed that Rs 10,000 crore of this amount was paid to the "bosses" in Delhi, with the implication pointing towards you..." Giving details of the alleged scam, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said that Sanjay Shirsat was "hurriedly" appointed as the CIDCO chairman to facilitate the land transfer through CIDCO's 12.5 per cent land allocation scheme. "The Biwalkar family, ineligible for 30 years, was arbitrarily deemed eligible by the Urban Development minister and CIDCO chairman," Raut's letter read. The Bivalkar family, in 1936, was given 4,078 acres of land as 'saranjam inam.' The family had given the land to the forest department with a 90-year lease agreement, with the land being notified as private forest later on. In 1987, the nearly 4,078 acres of land was allotted back to the family according to a notification, after which the family had demanded compensation under CIDCO's "12.5 per cent compensation scheme", a compensation plan offered by the authority to the people whose land have been acquired for development projects. In 2015 the Bombay High Court had ordered the return of the land parcel to the family. CIDCO challenged the ruling in Supreme Court, who put a stay on the order. However, in a meeting held a few months ago, directives were issued to give the 12.5 per cent of land back to the Bivalkar family. The UBT leader, decried the alleged denial of the 12.5 per cent scheme to others, with thousands of people being denied compensation. "Even today, thousands of project affected people (PAP) in the region remain deprived of land under CIDCO's allocation scheme. CIDCO officials shamelessly claim there is no land available for poor and marginalised projected affected families. Yet, ashtonishingly no such obstacle arose when allocating Rs 50,000 crore worth of land to the Biwalkar family alone," Raut's letter to Shah added. Holding Shah responsible for contributing to the "destruction of state's development," the UBT leader called for state ministers Eknath Shinde and Sanjay Shirsat to be removed from their posts and register a case against them.
