Heat builds across Maryland this week

CBS News3 days ago

A few isolated storms could develop across western Maryland this evening, with a low chance that one or two could drift as far east as the I-95 corridor. Any storm that does form may be capable of producing damaging winds and small hail.
Temperatures topped out in the upper 70s to low 80s Monday afternoon. Tonight, skies will gradually clear behind any passing storms, with overnight lows settling around 70 degrees.
A cold front approaches the region Tuesday morning and will pass through during the late morning to early afternoon hours. While most of the area will remain dry, far southern Maryland could see a brief shower or thunderstorm during the afternoon. Tuesday's high temperatures will reach the low to mid 80s before cooler and slightly less humid air filters in Tuesday night. Overnight lows will dip into the mid 60s.
By midweek, summerlike heat begins to build. Highs Wednesday will climb into the upper 80s. On Thursday, Baltimore could see its first 90-degree day of the year as temperatures peak near the 90-degree mark under mostly sunny skies.
The heat continues into Friday, with highs again reaching the upper 80s to near 90. Humidity will also increase, and a few storms could pop up late in the day. A stronger cold front arrives this weekend, bringing more widespread storm chances.
Saturday afternoon looks particularly unsettled, with a high likelihood of thunderstorms. Rain and storm chances linger into Father's Day on Sunday, with cooler highs in the 70s. The unsettled pattern is expected to continue into Monday and Tuesday next week, with isolated showers and storms and highs holding in the 70s.

Eyewitness Weather for Thursday, June 12th: Mild Again Friday with A Mix of Sun & Clouds!

Meteorologist Jordan Reed has your latest Eyewitness Weather forecast for this Thursday, June 12th… Tonight looks calm and quiet across Central New York thanks to high pressure keeping things settled! But starting Friday, the weather begins to change. A system moving in from the west will likely bring showers and some thunderstorms Friday evening into early Saturday. During the day on Friday, it should stay mostly dry, especially around Central New York, but the weekend becomes more unsettled. Both Flag Day on Saturday and Father's Day on Sunday won't be total washouts, but expect mostly cloudy skies and several rounds of on-and-off showers and storms. This will be especially noticeable in the Southern Tier. It'll feel humid at times, and while there may be some dry periods, you'll probably see rain at some point both days. Looking into next week, the active weather pattern continues. Monday and Tuesday will be warm and partly sunny with scattered showers and storms, mainly in the afternoons and evenings. By Wednesday and Thursday, rain and thunderstorms could become more organized as a stronger system approaches. Temperatures will stay warm and humid through the week, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and muggy nights in the 60s. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. A peek at your Father's Day Weekend forecast

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL)- Yet another afternoon… and another round of storms. We are tracking those storms moving through the region today, and one or two could become strong. The best chance for strong/severe storms will remain across central/east Georgia. Friday: Scattered storms are set to move in again tomorrow. Rain is set to enter by late Friday evening. Any storms that do develop could produce heavy rainfall. Feel like temperatures will sit in the mid-90s. Father's Day Weekend: Unfortunately, the rain will continue for your Father's Day weekend. Showers will likely move in a little earlier Saturday, and will likely be more widespread than today. This pattern will continue on Father's Day. Our temperatures for the weekend will sit in the upper 80s. However, 'tropical' humidity levels will cause heat index readings to rise to near 100 degrees Sunday. Next Week: Rain chances will remain in the forecast for all of next week, but we will trend drier. Showers and storms will become more isolated by Tuesday. Heat Index temperatures will remain in the upper 90s through the end of the week. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Chilly weather springs back for Ontario's Father's Day weekend

After a brief taste of summer this week, the upcoming weekend will feature a return to spring-like weather, including a threat for rain. However, Father's Day weekend will also include some sunshine and opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities. For more details on what you can expect this weekend, please read on! DON'T MISS: As we kick off the weekend on Friday, cooler weather will continue to spread across southern Ontario with temperatures more typical of early to mid-May, especially around the west end of Lake Ontario due to the east wind off the lake. However, summer weather won't be far away as southwestern Ontario will see temperatures in the mid 20s for one more day. We will see a mix of sun and cloudy periods during Friday with a low risk for passing showers. However, during Friday afternoon and Friday night, there will be an increasing threat for showers across cottage country. The rain should end early on Saturday across cottage country, then clouds will mix with sunny breaks. MUST SEE: Saturday will bring a mixture of clouds and sunny breaks. However, we will have brisk east wind off Lake Ontario and that will keep temperatures well below seasonal. Sunday will be the best weather day of the weekend for outdoor activities. While we can't completely rule out a passing shower, most of southern Ontario will be dry with a mixture of sunshine and cloudy periods. SEE ALSO: Temperatures will be noticeably warmer on Sunday - not hot, but cottage country will be near seasonal for mid June. Temperatures will be a few degrees cooler near the west end of Lake Ontario due to a light east wind off the lake, but it will still be a pleasant day. The warming trend will continue into early next week, but the threat for passing showers and thunderstorms will return. Click here to view the video
