It's pretty obvious to Seattle Mariners fans that their team has been going through some things recently. They've lost a number of games in the past couple of weeks to fall below the .500 mark.

Yet the Mariners still are holding their heads up high and working to fix whatever is wrong. Seattle manager Dan Wilson doesn't appear to be too concerned with what he's been seeing on the field.
'The attitude has been there,' Wilson said after Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday afternoon, according to MLB.com. 'The energy's been there. Everything's been there except the results, and we've got to change the results and we will get there.'
The Mariners didn't have a fun trip to the Valley of the Sun as Arizona swept a three-game series at Chase Field in Phoenix.
What's been happening with the Mariners? They have one of the best power hitters in MLB with catcher Cal Raleigh. Well, looking at some statistics a little closer might offer some answers.

On Wednesday, Seattle had eight hits and two walks. It looks like their offensive output is good. But getting those runners home from being on base has been a struggle. Through 67 games, the Mariners have left 493 runners on base.

How bad is that statistic? That's the second-highest mark among all American League teams. In addition, Seattle is hitting .222 with runners in scoring position. That's the fourth-lowest mark in all the major leagues, only being better than the Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, and Baltimore Orioles.
They are not scoring runs. The traffic on the basepaths is there. So, the Mariners need to fix that ASAP if they are going to stay atop the AL West Division. Right now, they are four games behind the Houston Astros.

Yes, once again, Seattle is looking up and seeing Houston in first place. That's a spot the Mariners don't like being in one bit.
'Nobody in this clubhouse likes to lose,' center fielder Julio Rodríguez said. 'But I feel like we all know that the game of baseball is gonna go up and down. Everybody through the season is gonna go through stretches like this. I feel like everybody is staying pretty even-keeled throughout and just kind of putting one foot in front of the other.'
Mariners first baseman Rowdy Tellez has been improving on his stats over the last few weeks. Seattle needs his hot bat to keep going.
It's time for the Mariners to put some things together and get back on the winning track.

So, they added to their roster, signing Deebo Samuel, Deatrich Wise, and Javon Kinlaw among others. They traded for Laremy Tunsil. They drafted Josh Conerly and Troy Amos. Washington, for the most of the past quarter century, has endured name changes and relative obscurity as evidenced by their near-omission on an intriguing all-star team of NFL legends. ESPN's Aaron Schatz and Seth Walder recently dropped their NFL All Quarter Century team, a talented grouping of 53 players and coaches. It even has a practice squad. When smoke cleared and dust settled, three familiar faces were on the list. Two never played under the Commanders team name, but you get the idea. We all still have a soft place for all of them. Trent Williams (2010-19) Unfortunately, Trent Williams' career will be remembered for an ugly standoff with the front office, but for ten seasons, he was one of the best O-lineman this franchise has seen in a while. He earned Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2015 and seven of his 11 Pro Bowl nods playing in the burgundy and gold. Champ Bailey (1999-2003) It feels like this can be stated now. If Washington had a time machine, they'd probably go back and rethink the trade that landed Clinton Portis in exchange for Champ Bailey and a second-round pick. Oh well, you live and you learn. Portis earned a Second-Team All Pro nod and Pro Bowl mention during the 2018 NFL season, but during his seven-year run in the DMV, Champ earned three First-Team All-Pro mentions with the Denver Broncos. Bailey also earned two of his four Second-Team All-Pro mentions and eight of his 12 Pro Bowl mentions in the Mile-High City. Not only that, he's a Pro Football Hall of Famer whose career in Denver outlasted Portis's time with Washington by three seasons. Yep! It's safe to state that Denver certainly won this trade. Bobby Wagner (2024-present) Bobby Wagner is the lone Commanders star still active whose name appears on ESPN's quarter century all-star squad. He'll probably be best remembered as a Seattle Seahawks legend, but his time with Washington has been very fruitful. Wagner earned a Pro Bowl nod, his tenth, and his fifth Second-Team All-Pro nod. Better yet, he's been a fantastic influence on the young stars on both sides of the ball. Worth mentioning: Fear not if you have suffered for a while. Washington's future looks better and brighter now. Jayden Daniels is the real deal. Who knows? Caglianone won a lefty-lefty matchup by pulling a 95.5 mph fastball from Jacob Latz into the Texas Rangers bullpen in right-center field to give the Royals a 3-0 lead in the second inning Thursday. Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong joins 20/20 club with home run against Brewers on Thursday
Pete Crow-Armstrong became the latest addition to the 20/20 Club by hitting his 20th home run of the season on Thursday. He also has 23 stolen bases. Crow-Armstrong opened the Chicago Cubs' afternoon game against the Milwaukee Brewers by entering the elite group. The 23-year-old blasted the ball to right field to tie the score 1-1 in the bottom of the first inning at Wrigley Field. PCA sits fourth on the list of fastest players to reach 20 homers and 20 stolen bases in a single season, having achieved the feat in 73 games. That ties him with Kenneth Williams, who reached 20/20 for the St. Louis Browns in 1922. Advertisement Eric Davis achieved the 20/20 feat in 46 games in 1987, Jose Canseco needed 68 games in 1998, and most recently, Fernando Tatis Jr. did it in 71 games in 2021. In addition to the home runs and steals, Crow-Armstrong has 77 hits and 60 RBI while batting .272. The Cubs are sitting atop the NL Central with a 45-28 record, and PCA is emerging as an early NL MVP candidate.
