War 2 Trailer review: Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's spy thriller impresses with action but falls short on visuals
Hrithik Roshan's portrayal of Kabir appears fiercer and more powerful, while Jr NTR joins the franchise in his beast mode avatar, adding depth to the narrative. Kiara Advani's character, as Hrithik's love interest and an army officer, adds intrigue. What to expect from War 2?
The War 2 trailer impresses with Hrithik Roshan's intense return as Kabir and the impactful entry of Jr. NTR, hinting at a powerful showdown. It will be Hrithik vs. Jr. NTR, the moment we've been waiting for ever since the teaser was released. Who is the hero and who is the villain remains unclear, as both leads proclaim 'India first.' The high-octane action trailer also gives glimpses of Hrithik and Kiara's romantic moments, as well as a fight scene between them.
The makers have been cautious not to reveal the plot, so it remains a guessing game whether Tiger Shroff will appear, especially since his character died in the first instalment. However, the trailer does briefly show a glimpse of his photograph.
Compared to Vaani Kapoor in War, Kiara Advani has a more prominent presence in the trailer, not just with her viral bikini shots but also in her action-packed avatar. Ashutosh Rana, who played a significant role in the first War film, returns with the impactful line: 'This is war.' War 2's VFX and background score in trailer
The action sequences are slick and well-executed, backed by a gripping background score that heightens the tension. Stylish cinematography gives the film an international feel, while fast-paced editing keeps viewers hooked. With a mix of style, emotion, and action, the trailer successfully raises excitement for what promises to be a grand spy thriller. The underwhelming aspects
While the War 2 trailer impressed many with its scale, action, and star power, it also has some mixed feelings on several fronts. The quality of VFX and visuals looked mediocre. The action sequences are crisp, but whenever the trailer shows any fight sequence in a racy manner, it fails to give you a vibe of an action-packed trailer.
As for now, we can only keep high hopes and wait for August 14, because if somehow the makers and Ayan Mukerji, who helmed the gigantic 'Brahmastra: Part 1', were able to create their magic, then War 2 may create a mass appeal from the audience. The biggest clash of 2025 – War 2 vs Coolie
Adding to the anticipation, War 2 is set to clash at the box office with Thalaivar Rajinikanth's Coolie on August 14, 2025, helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Coolie has already garnered over Rs 1 crore in USA bookings, setting the stage for a significant showdown between these two major Indian films, which have already set their bar high without even launching a trailer to date.
Overall, the War 2 trailer promises a thrilling cinematic experience, with high-energy action and a star-studded cast. However, the film's success may hinge on its ability to deliver fresh storytelling and refined visual effects to meet audience expectations.
