My Wife and I Are Never Splitting AirPods Again Thanks to This iPhone Trick

CNET20 hours ago

When my wife and I travel, we usually download some shows to watch on our flight. But when we watch those shows, we always have to split a set of AirPods so we each have one earbud. That means one of our ears is enjoying the show while the other is forced to endure whatever is happening around the plane, which can be a little distracting. But thanks to Apple's Audio Sharing feature, we can each enjoy a show together while using our own sets of AirPods.
Audio Sharing was introduced with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 in 2024. It allows two pairs of compatible AirPods or Beats headphones to pair with a single iPhone or iPad. So you and one other person can immerse yourselves into music, movies or a TED Talk without disturbing those around you.

Here's how to share audio with another set of AirPods or Beats headphones.
How to enjoy music and podcasts together
You can share your audio with another pair of headphones by tapping your own headphone control.

1. Open Music, Podcasts, Spotify or any similar app with your AirPods in your ears and connected to your iPhone or iPad.
2. Start playing music or a Podcast.
3. Open your Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner of your screen.
4. Go to your audio controls page -- it's your second Control Center page by default.
5. Tap the AirPods logo near the bottom of your screen.
6. Tap Share Audio.
7. Bring the other pair of AirPods in their case or Beats headphones near your device. You might need to press the button on the back of your AirPods case to go into Pairing Mode.
8. Tap Share Audio when your device detects the other AirPods or Beats headphones.
You can control the volume of both headphones from the connected device.

Each pair of headphones can change their own volume via headphone controls, or you can change the volume for each pair via the connected device. But you'll be able to enjoy a podcast or other music together without splitting a pair of AirPods or disturbing people around you.
How to watch a movie or show with separate headphones
Pairing another set of headphones to your device to watch a film or TV series is similar. Here's how.
1. Open Apple TV, Netflix, YouTube or another streaming app with your headphones in.
2. Start playing a film or show.
3. Swipe down from the top right corner of your screen to open your Control Center.
Tapping Share Audio will let you connect to another set of headphones so you and another person can listen or watch something together on the same screen.

Now you and another person can watch a video together without disturbing the people around you and without splitting a pair of AirPods.

Eagles First-Round Rookie Passes Major Off-Field Test

Eagles First-Round Rookie Passes Major Off-Field Test originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Eagles will not see first-round linebacker Jihaad Campbell on the field until training camp. The Alabama product is recovering from significant injuries to his shoulders and knees. Advertisement Despite the limited work he can do on the field, Campbell is doing everything he can to connect with his new teammates. Even if it means venturing out for a charity softball contest. Campbell was one of several Eagles players who attended DeVonta Smith's Celebrity Softball Game this weekend. For the rookie, it was a good chance to show his support for a new teammate and a former Alabama legend. "Came here to show my support for Smitty's contribution to the whole community," Campbell told the media. "It's definitely lit out there. Looked like a baseball game." Smith has been running the event for four seasons, and profits from it go to St. Luke's University Health Charities and Lehigh Valley IronPig Charities. Since arriving in Philly in 2021, he has been a staple in the community on and off the field. Advertisement The 26-year-old became the fifth player to win a National Championship, Heisman Trophy and Super Bowl. The last of those feats was accomplished in February when he became the first Alabama player in history to catch a touchdown pass in Philadelphia's 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Campbell has a long way to go before he can have the kind of impact Smith has over his career in Philly. However, a good way for a rookie like himself to stand out to veteran leaders like Smith is to show up whenever possible. Campbell did just that this weekend. And it should go a long way to helping out the rookie linebacker's immersion to the NFL world. Charlize Theron Fears ‘Millions of People…Are Going to Die' Because of Foreign Aid Cuts

Charlize Theron delivered fired up remarks Saturday about immigration, LGBTQ and women's rights and the devastating cuts to foreign aid. 'The world feels like it's burning because it is,' the Oscar winner said at the fifth annual Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Program Block Party on the Universal lot. 'Here in Los Angeles, in the US and across the globe, we are moving backwards fast. Immigration policy is destroying the lives of families, not criminals. Women's rights are becoming less and less every day, queer and trans lives are increasingly being erased, and gender-based violence is on the rise. This isn't just policy, it's personal. Fuck them.' All of this is not just detrimental, it's dangerous. People will lose their lives. Many have already unfortunately and at a frightening rate. It's absolutely heartbreaking to see this kind of unnecessary suffering.' Theron did not mention Pres. Trump by name but his administration has made cutting foreign aid a core part of its agenda. But Theron said she is not without hope. 'What we also see, what we cannot miss, is the resistance,' she said. 'There is hope, there is power in all of us standing up, organizing, protesting, voting and caring for each other, and refusing to accept that this is the new normal. That spirit of resistance, justice and care for each other, that's the spirit that drives the work at CTAOP. Although our focus is on the youth in southern Africa, what we're really talking about here tonight is that all lives should be valued. Everyone should have the right to be healthy and safe and should be able to be seen.' Theron launched CTAOP 18 years ago to support young people living in her native South Africa. To date, CTAOP-supported programs have reached more than 4.5 million youth and granted $15 million to organizations in southern Africa. Earlier in the evening, on the red carpet, Theron told me, 'It's quite devastating what's going to happen…It's less than one percent of this budget that everyone is talking about and when you compare that to the millions of people that are going to die because of this, it's devastating. It does feel like this event is a little more important than it was last year.' Theron says she regularly lobbies elected officials. 'We do it quite a bit,' she said, adding, 'I will say there are a lot of people who do pick up the phone and are willing to listen and are on our side of understanding.' The evening also included a live auction of luxury products and experiences as well as a performance by Reneé Rapp. Best of Variety Emmy Predictions: All 118 Categories Updated as Voting Opens With Tight Races and Major Shakeups 25 Hollywood Legends Who Deserve an Honorary Oscar Oscars Predictions 2026: 'Sinners' Becomes Early Contender Ahead of Cannes Film Festival

Bitcoin Soars, Altcoins Fade in $300 Billion Crypto Shakeout

On the face of it, 2025 looks like a banner year for crypto: Bitcoin hitting a record, an industry-boosting US president whose family is venturing headlong into the sector, and key legislation widely expected to be passed by Congress. But look beyond the bullish headlines and the rally in Bitcoin, and a vastly different landscape comes into view. Most of the so-called altcoins once touted as competitors to the original cryptoasset are nursing steep declines, with more than $300 billion of market value wiped out so far this year.
