Naidu asks airlines to restore normal ops from May 15 when air route NOATM ends

has asked airlines to 'resume normal schedules from Thursday (May 15) across all 32 airports' which were reopened on Monday morning after early six days. Naidu held a meeting with all airlines on Tuesday where he directed them to ramp up operations.

The notice to airmen (NOTAM) for temporary closure of 25 segments of air traffic service routes within the Delhi and Mumbai flight information regions is valid till 5.29 am on Thursday. Once this NOTAM lapses, all air routes in the north and west will be available. With all the 32 airports open now, airlines have been asked to restore normal operations then.

With the NOTAM ending on May 15, I suggested that airlines resume their normal schedules from (then) across all 32 airports for which the NOTAM was issued. All airlines responded positively to this suggestion,' Naidu said on X.
Airlines had started resuming flights from Monday itself but drone activity late that night in some cities led to Air India and IndiGo cancelling their flights to the region on Tuesday. These included AI to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot.
And IndiGo flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Rajkot were cancelled on Tuesday and 'will progressively resume' from Wednesday, the airline said.
Meanwhile, Air India Express, SpiceJet and others resumed some suspended flights on Tuesday.
SpiceJet said it resumed scheduled flights to Srinagar from Tuesday and that Haj flights from Srinagar will start on Wednesday. 'SpiceJet will resume its Haj 2025 operations from Srinagar, operating two flights to Medina using wide-body Airbus A340 aircraft, each accommodating 324 passengers.

SpiceJet is facilitating the travel of about 15,500 Haj pilgrims this year,' the airline said.
Air India Express said it resumed Hindon-Bengaluru; Jammu–Delhi; Jammu–Srinagar and Srinagar–Delhi on Tuesday. Hindon-Mumbai is scheduled to resume from Wednesday and 'reinstatement of other flights, including international services from Amritsar, is expected to follow from May 15,' the airline said.
Naidu asked if airlines needed any support in restoration of services.
'We have sought exemption from route dispersal guidelines (RDG) for this period as some of the closed airports fell in that category,' said people at the meeting. RDG are meant to ensure air connectivity to remote and underserved regions and mandate airlines allocate a portion of their capacity to routes in specific categories, including those in the North-East, Jammu & Kashmir, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Star Air operated its Hindon-Adampur flight on Tuesday. On landing, the pilot thanked the ATC at the IAF base 'thank you for keeping us safe. On behalf of a grateful nation, please accept our immense gratitude. Jai Hind.' The ATC replied, saying, 'Jai Hind.'

On Friday, the southern state and Nvidia inked an agreement to jointly advance the establishment of a proposed Artificial Intelligence (AI) university in the state and foster a robust ecosystem through skilling, research, infrastructure development, and startup acceleration. "Under the leadership of IT Minister Nara Lokesh, we have entered into an MoU with Nvidia to build a strong and inclusive AI ecosystem in the state," said Naidu in a post on 'X'. With support from Nvidia for curriculum and training, 10,000 engineering students will receive skill training over the next two years, he said, adding that 500 AI startups from the southern state will gain access to Nvidia's 'Inception Program' for global exposure and key resources. Further, plans are underway to establish India's first AI University in collaboration with Nvidia for shaping the infrastructure and research capabilities, said the CM. From education and skilling to research and innovation, this initiative is laying the foundation for a Swarna Andhra Pradesh, Naidu added.

‘IndiGo, you're going down': Man misses connection flight from Jaipur, claims he lost Rs 2.65 lakh deal
A LinkedIn post by Chayan Garg has stirred debate online after he recounted how poor handling by IndiGo staff at Jaipur airport allegedly caused him to miss a crucial flight, ultimately costing him a client deal worth Rs 2.65 lakh. In a post titled 'IndiGo, you're going down,' Garg described how what was meant to be a routine work trip from Jaipur to Mumbai turned into him losing a 'high-stakes client meeting.' 'I reached the airport at 4:40 AM, cleared security by 5:10 AM, and was told by the IndiGo executive that boarding would begin in 10–15 minutes,' Garg wrote. With time to spare and the boarding gate crowded, he said he briefly stepped away to use the washroom. 'When I came back after 12 minutes, I was told boarding was closed. I was literally surprised as the boarding was supposed to start, not end.' What frustrated him further, he claimed, was the lack of any announcement. When he questioned the staff, he was told that Jaipur is a 'silent airport' where announcements are minimal. However, Garg countered this by pointing out that 'just minutes earlier, there was an announcement for the Dehradun flight from IndiGo.' When he mentioned this to the staff, 'they denied it straight to my face.' Despite pleading with staff and explaining the urgency of his client meeting, Garg says he was not allowed to board and received no support. 'No alternate option. No help with the next flight. No refund. No empathy,' he wrote. The fallout, he claims, was severe: 'We lost the client. Rs 2.65 lakh down the drain. A month's effort gone in seconds.' He ended the post by tagging consumer rights advocate Revant Himatsingka and asking for help, 'I'm genuinely clueless right now.' The post quickly went viral, striking a chord with many online. One user commented, 'I cannot imagine the number of people who have gone through something similar but were never properly compensated because they lack a platform and people who would listen. I really hope this post helps all of them.' Another user commented: 'I am sorry for what you went through, and I am not related to IndiGo, but if you tell the situation to the client, I am sure they would understand. If they don't, you should be grateful that you didn't end up working with someone who does not understand uncontrollable circumstances.' Some users also raised practical concerns, with one said, 'Strange. Normally they call on your mobile number if you miss the boarding, personal experience. Early morning flights are boarded before time as the plane is already parked overnight and they have to reduce time lag throughout the day.' IndiGo eventually responded to the controversy, acknowledging the passenger's frustration but standing by their protocol. 'Dear Mr Garg, we understand how disappointing it can be to miss a flight, and our carefully planned travel gets disrupted. However, as per our review, the boarding gate closed 25 minutes before departure, in line with standard procedure. Unfortunately, your arrival was after gate closure, by which time final preparations for take-off were already underway. Our airport team offered the next available flight to support you, and while we respect your decision not to proceed with it, we genuinely appreciate your patience and understanding. Naidu unveils vision to transform Vizag into ‘New Mumbai' by 2032
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday unveiled an ambitious vision to transform Visakhapatnam into a new Mumbai over the next seven years. He directed officials to develop the 'Visakha Economic Region' as AP's primary growth engine, aiming for a staggering $120 billion economy from this region by 2032. The proposed economic region encompasses eight districts, including Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, East Godavari, Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR), and Manyam. The Chief Minister has instructed the officials to launch projects that will significantly boost economic activity across these eight districts, which spread across 36,000 square kilometers and are home to 15.5 million people. Currently, this region's GDP stands at nearly $49 billion. According to the Chief Minister, this region alone can generate 20 to 24 lakh jobs by 2032, making it vital for the state's future prosperity. During a review meeting on Friday with NITI Aayog officials, the Chief Minister outlined a comprehensive development strategy for the Visakhapatnam Economic Region. His proposal focused on six ports, seven manufacturing nodes, 17 major agricultural zones, six service hubs and 12 tourism hubs. The NITI Aayog officials presented a detailed plan, focusing on seven key growth drivers for the region: ports, IT, agriculture, tourism, healthcare, urban development, and infrastructure. A total of 41 crucial projects are slated for prioritised implementation. "We will develop beach roads from Mulapeta to Visakhapatnam and from Visakhapatnam to Kakinada, connecting them to national highways. Our coast is a true treasure. We must fully leverage its potential," the Chief Minister said, adding that his government accorded industry status to tourism and rolled out a highly investor-friendly policy. On future workforce needs, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of continuous skill training for youth. He also revealed plans to provide work-from-home opportunities to 20 lakh people. For the IT sector, Naidu set a target of creating 4-5 lakh jobs over the next seven years, with a strong emphasis on establishing data centers, startups, and innovation hubs. He further said Andhra Pradesh is prioritising the development of solar, wind, pumped hydro, battery storage, and green hydrogen as part of its energy strategy. The CM highlighted the state's abundant natural resources to support this vision and urged NITI Aayog to extend its support in bringing it to fruition. Later, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Andhra government, NITI Aayog, and the ISEG Foundation for the State Energy Transition Roadmap. The current installed power generation capacity in the state is 27.3 GW. Electricity demand in the state rose from 55.6 BU (billion units) in 2019 to 69.7 BU in 2025 while industrial demand grew by 4.8 percent and household demand by 5.1 per cent. Power demand is projected to rise from 88.6 BU next year to 163.9 BU by 2035.
