Lucknow: To prevent law and order problems in the state, Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath
on Monday directed police officials to take cognizance of disputes even without a formal complaint and work towards resolving the issue before it goes out of hand.
During a review of law and order during a video conference with administration and police officials on Monday evening, the CM highlighted upcoming festivals, like Ganga Dussehra on June 5, Eid-ul-Zuha on June 7, and the Jagannath Rath Yatra on June 24, saying that this period was highly sensitive from a law and order perspective.
"All district magistrates and police captains should review past incidents in their areas.
Lists should be prepared of those who slaughter prohibited animals, act against tradition, or spread disorder, and preventive action should be taken against suspects. Communication with peace committees in all police stations, tehsils, and districts should be ensured. Traffic on public roads should not be obstructed, and police foot patrols should continue around religious sites," he said.
The CM said that sites for sacrifices on Eid-ul-Zuha should be identified, and no sacrifices should be allowed anywhere else.

Sacrifice of prohibited animals should be completely banned. He asked each district to prepare a well-planned system for waste disposal after sacrifices. Officials have been directed to ensure that prayers are offered at traditional sites only, and permission should not be granted for prayers that block roads.
Referring to recent bird flu cases, the CM said that special vigilance should be in place and safety standards should be adhered to.
Disposal of dead animals in rivers should also be prevented, he said.
Officials have been directed to crackdown on illegal slaughterhouses while ensuring that those with licenses should also adhere to conditions. Open sale of meat should be prohibited.
In view of the Ganga Dussehra festival, a cleaning exercise of Ganga's ghats will be undertaken and they will also be decorated. The CM said that a cleanliness drive should take place on June 4 while an evening aarti and other events should be held on June 5.
Designated bathing sites at the ghats should be identified, and divers, PAC flood units, NDRF, and SDRF should be deployed for safety, he added.
To mark World Environment Day on June 5, the CM said that plantation should take place under the theme of 'Ek Ped Ma ke Naam' with participation from MPs, MLAs, and other public representatives. The CM also spoke about the need for revival and restoration of rivers, asking administrations to take inspiration from the revival of the Noon River in Jalaun.
He added that this year's tree plantation campaign should be linked to river restoration.
Discussing preparations for the 11th International Yoga Day on June 21, the CM said that a list of master trainers should be prepared and sent to districts. The main event of Yoga Day, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the programme, should be broadcast live across the state.
Expressing concern over road accidents, the CM identified violation of traffic rules as the main cause of accidents.
He spoke about the need for improvements in road engineering, signage, and speed breaker arrangements. He directed that illegal bus and auto stands should be removed immediately and that road accidents should be audited to determine responsibility.
The CM also assessed the public hearing system and praised districts with a good performance. He also directed other districts to improve their functioning. "Law and order and public hearings are governance priorities. Complaints received through IGRS and the CM Helpline should be resolved satisfactorily and timely. Resolution alone is not enough. A complainant's satisfaction is the final standard. In all cases, establish contact with the applicant before the final resolution.
All officers should conduct public hearings in their offices on working days and appoint public grievance officers in all their departments and offices," he said.

Chhattisgarh unveils Rs 49,000 crore irrigation & hydropower push in Bastar as anti-Naxal ops clear path

Chhattisgarh has proposed ₹49,000 crore mega irrigation and hydropower projects in Bastar as anti-Naxal operations advance across Left-Wing Extremism-affected districts. About 45 years after the Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal Award allocated 301 TMC of water from the Indravati River to Chhattisgarh (then part of Madhya Pradesh), the state has proposed two projects - construction of the Bodhghat dam and interlinking the Indravati and Mahanadi rivers. Despite being allocated 301 TMC of water from the Indravati, the state currently utilises only 25 TMC. The Bodhghat project proposes to use 96.27 TMC. Due to Naxal activity, no dam or related infrastructure could be implemented in Bastar. Of the 8.15 lakh hectares of crop area, irrigation facilities currently exist for only around 1.36 lakh hectares. With anti-Naxal operations now in full swing in Chhattisgarh, the state government has proposed construction of the ₹29,000 crore Bodhghat dam and the ₹20,000 crore interlinking project. According to the proposal, this will provide irrigation facilities for 7 lakh hectares of land. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 7 Mistakes People With $1M+ Make When Hiring Financial Advisors SmartAsset Learn More Undo The two projects will span Naxal-affected districts including Mungeli, Rajnandgaon, Kawardha, Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur, Kanker, and Narayanpur. According to sources, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week and urged that the two projects be granted "national status". This would ensure central funding. In a letter to the Prime Minister, reviewed by ET, Sai stated, "Given the high cost of the project, it is extremely difficult for the state to implement it with its own resources. Therefore, it is requested that these projects be declared as National Projects, so that their implementation can be ensured for the development of Bastar." In addition to irrigation, the Bodhghat multipurpose project is expected to generate 125 MW of electricity and produce 4,824 tonnes of fish annually. It will also supply water for drinking and industrial use. As per the state's proposal, 269 villages will benefit directly. However, there are significant challenges to implementation, including 10,440 hectares of land to be fully submerged, 28 villages to be entirely affected, and 14 to be partially affected. The Indravati-Mahanadi interlinking project will also require clearances from the Central Water Commission and the Ministries of Environment and Tribal Affairs. Live Events

UP to open procurement centres, announce maize MSP soon: CM

Kanpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said the govt will open procurement centres for maize and declare the minimum support price (MSP) for the crop soon. Addressing a gathering under 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan' at Ajitmal in Auraiya, the CM accused the previous govts at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh of ignoring welfare of farmers. "For the first time in independent India, farmers became part of the central govt's political agenda in 2014 when Narendra Modi took over as the Prime Minister and several innovative schemes were introduced for their welfare," the CM said. Highlighting a change in agricultural patterns, he said that earlier the farmers in the state were limited to one or two crops, but maize emerged as a profitable third crop, cultivated on over five lakh hectares of land. "Farmers are now earning up to Rs 2.5 lakh per hectare. We assure farmers that we will soon open procurement centres and declare MSP for maize as well," the CM said. He said that under the BJP's double-engine govt, agricultural scientists and experts from Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) were sent from labs to the fields for the first time. "This 'Lab to Land' initiative is part of PM Modi's vision of taking farmers from 'seed to market', prioritising their interests. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pinga-Pinga e HBP? Tome isso 1x ao dia se tem mais de 40 anos Portal Saúde do Homem Clique aqui Undo It was in 2014 that the farmer, the provider of food, was included in the govt's political agenda. This was visible for the first time when PM Modi launched the soil health card scheme," he said. Yogi said that before 2014, hardly anyone apart from agricultural scientists knew about soil health cards. "Schemes like the PM's agricultural irrigation scheme and crop insurance were launched. Today, over 12 crore farmers across the country are benefitting from the PM-KISAN scheme," he said. "In UP alone, Rs 85,000 crore has been transferred to the accounts of 2.86 crore farmers so far. Our govt has given jobs to eight lakh youths so far. On June 15, Union home minister Amit Shah will hand over appointment letters to 60,000 personnel recruited in the police force," he added. Highlighting the plight of farmers before the BJP came to power in 2017, he said: "Farmers were committing suicide, sugarcane dues were unpaid, and there were no procurement centres for maize, pulses, oilseeds, potatoes, paddy, or wheat. In 2017, we waived farmers' loans worth Rs 36,000 crore for 86 lakh farmers. We expanded irrigation capacity under the PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana, covering an additional 23 lakh hectares of land. " The govt also provided free electricity for 15 lakh private tube wells of farmers, for which Rs 2,700 crore was paid to the electricity department annually, he said, adding that under the PM Kusum Yojana, more than one lakh farmers had received solar panels. He said that under the SP govt, law and order had deteriorated, and recruitments were marred by nepotism. "Back then, gangsters ruled, women and traders were unsafe, and recruitments were controlled by 'uncle and nephew'," he alleged. He said that the BJP govt recruited over 1.6 lakh teachers and asserted that hiring in various departments including PWD, irrigation and agriculture was done with complete transparency. "It's been a long time since Auraiya became a district. There was no police lines here, therefore, the facility is being constructed at a cost of Rs 272 crore. A bridge is being built over the Yamuna River for Rs 151 crore. A CM model composite school is also being constructed. Budgets have been allocated for agricultural science centre," he said. He said the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative connected two crore youths to self-employment, while 65 lakh youths secured employment through investments. He cited the destruction of temple in Kashi by Aurangzeb and its restoration by Ahilyabai, explaining the renaming of Auraiya University in her honour. Agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi and minister of state Baldev Singh Aulakh were present. Earlier, the CM conducted an aerial assessment of maize cultivation in Auraiya, Kannauj, Etawah, and Kanpur Dehat.
