OpenAI Prepares to Launch New Models - Jordan News
OpenAI Prepares to Launch New Models OpenAI is preparing to release a new suite of advanced AI models this week, in a bid to stay ahead of growing competition from tech giants such as Google, Meta, and Microsoft. This comes as the number of users on its AI platform, ChatGPT, approaches the one billion mark. اضافة اعلان The American company is betting on these new models to strengthen its global presence and deliver innovative solutions tailored to the needs of individuals and organizations amid the generative AI boom. According to sources cited by The Verge, OpenAI plans to unveil a range of new models, led by GPT-4.1, which is described as an enhanced version of the multimodal GPT-4o model. This new version combines text, visual, and audio understanding capabilities in real time. The launch is expected to include two lighter versions—GPT-4.1 Mini and GPT-4.1 Nano—offering more flexible options suited to various use cases and computational capacities. OpenAI's roadmap goes even further, with plans to introduce a reasoning-focused model named O3, alongside a lighter variant called O4 Mini. These models have reportedly already been spotted in an updated version of the ChatGPT web platform, signaling their imminent official release. While the models are expected to launch this week, the timeline may be pushed back due to operational capacity challenges. Amid these developments, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hinted at an upcoming feature via his post on X (formerly Twitter)—though he didn't clarify if it's directly linked to the new models. Altman also cautioned that the rapid growth of user demand might lead to delays in the launch or slowdowns in service, noting that "our GPUs are melting" due to the overwhelming demand, especially for image generation services in the free version of ChatGPT. In a major strategic shift, the company also announced that as of April 30, it will officially retire GPT-4 on the ChatGPT platform, replacing it with the new GPT-4o model as the default option for all users, according to an official statement.

Google Temporarily Halts AI-Powered "Ask Photos" Feature - Jordan News
Google has temporarily paused the rollout of its "Ask Photos" feature in the Google Photos app—a search tool powered by the Gemini AI model—according to a report by The Verge. اضافة اعلان Originally announced at last year's I/O conference, the feature allows users to search for photos using natural language queries like 'me and Alice laughing' or 'Emma drawing in the backyard,' instead of relying on traditional keywords. Although Google began rolling out the feature to a limited group of Android and iOS users last September, it has now been partially suspended to address performance issues. 'Ask Photos is not quite where we want it to be in terms of speed, result quality, or overall user experience,' wrote Jamie Aspinall, Product Manager at Google Photos, on X (formerly Twitter). 'So, we've temporarily paused the rollout for a very limited number of users while we work on improvements.' His remarks follow user complaints that the new AI search was slower than the traditional method and lacked clear advantages. In response, Aspinall stated that an improved version of the feature is expected to be released within the next two weeks, promising faster and more accurate search results. Google's Ongoing AI Feature Struggles This isn't the first time Google has had to pause an AI-related feature. Last year, the company temporarily disabled its AI Overviews feature after it returned inaccurate—and at times bizarre—answers. Google also suspended image generation capabilities in Gemini after historically inaccurate outputs were reported. Coinciding with the pause, Google announced a separate new feature to enhance search functionality in Google Photos. Users can now place words in quotation marks to perform exact-match searches in image text, file names, camera models, or captions.

2.234 million visitors to Jordan in 5 months - Jordan News
The tourism sector has witnessed sustained growth during the first five months of 2025, marked by an increase in the number of international visitors and a rise in tourism revenues, compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from the Central Bank of Jordan and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. اضافة اعلان According to the monthly report issued by the Ministry, the total number of international visitors from January to May 2025 reached approximately 2.696 million, reflecting a 20.6% increase compared to the 2.234 million visitors during the same period in 2024. Tourism revenue during the first four months (January–April) of 2025 reached approximately 1.721 billion Jordanian dinars, marking a 15.3% increase compared to the 1.493 billion dinars recorded in the same period of 2024. The number of overnight tourists from January to May 2025 rose to 2.233 million, compared to 1.919 million in the same period of 2024, an increase of 16.4%. Same-day visitors also saw a significant rise, reaching around 462,000 visitors compared to 315,000 in 2024 — a growth of 46.6%. The report revealed that the highest growth in overnight tourists during the first five months of 2025 came from the Asia-Pacific region, with a staggering 101.5% increase. This was followed by European countries with 53.8%, African countries with 33.8%, American countries with 27.0%, and Arab countries with 26.6%. In May 2025 alone, the Kingdom welcomed about 571,000 international visitors, up 27.1% compared to 449,000 visitors in May 2024. Tourism revenue in April 2025 increased by 34.2%, reaching 503.6 million Jordanian dinars, compared to 375 million dinars in April 2024. This positive performance is attributed to various initiatives by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, including the development of tourism products, infrastructure improvements, enhancing the visitor experience, and expanding marketing campaigns to promote diverse tourism offerings in new markets. The growth is largely credited to targeted promotional campaigns in promising global markets, the resumption of several direct and low-cost flights, and improved accessibility to Jordan's tourist destinations. The Ministry continues to implement a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at achieving sustainable growth in the sector, increasing its contribution to the GDP, generating new employment opportunities, and enhancing the national economy. It also seeks to establish Jordan as a world-class tourist destination, promoting it as a country rich in historical, religious, and natural sites.
