The demise of Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali has taken a shocking turn, with a new petition suggesting she was murdered. What started off as a sad case of an actress found lifeless in her apartment has now turned into a possible crime story, with police pulling out all stops to find the truth.
Found after months in her Karachi flat
Humaira's decomposed body was discovered on 8 July 2025 in her locked apartment in Karachi's Defence Phase VI. The discovery stunned many, as she had been a known face in the industry thanks to her work in 'Tamasha Ghar' and 'Jalaibee'. Her passing sparked a major investigation, involving phone records, bank details, and witness interviews, as police tried to piece together what really happened.
Petition in court calls it murder
As per ARY News, what truly changed the direction of the case was a petition filed by a citizen named Shahzaib Sohail in Karachi's City Court. The petition boldly stated that Humaira was murdered and urged the court to make sure her family was included in the investigation.
Reportedly, Shahzaib pointed to video evidence from the apartment and spoke of Humaira's strained ties with her family. His petition raised serious doubts about how the actress was found, which led the court to order police to treat the matter as a possible criminal case.
Police crack her phones for answers
In a big breakthrough, as reported by The Express Tribune, police managed to unlock three mobile phones and a tablet that belonged to Humaira. They found the passwords in her personal diary, which helped them access her private messages and chats. A laptop was also seized, though police are still trying to unlock it.
Investigators are now studying her chat logs and other phone data to see who she was talking to in her final months.
They have also started a forensic audit of her bank accounts to check for any odd transactions that could point to blackmail, threats or other shady activities.
Talking to friends, staff and her daily contacts
Reports also mention that, so far, the police have taken statements from two people linked to Humaira. They have also called in the building's watchman and cleaning staff to see if anyone noticed anything strange. Beyond that, they are speaking to people from her day-to-day life, like her gym trainer and the staff at her beauty salon.
All this is being done to try and rebuild a timeline of her last days. What they have found so far is troubling, Humaira's last known communication was back in early October 2024.
Even more worrying, her social media activity stopped a month before that, in September 2024.
Post-mortem leaves more questions than answers
As per multiple reports, an autopsy was done after Humaira's body was found. It revealed that she had likely passed away around 8 to 10 months earlier.
Her body was partly mummified and had become skeletal, making it very hard for doctors to figure out exactly what happened. Forensic experts have kept samples for more tests, including toxicology and DNA checks, hoping these might give some answers later. But because of how much the body had decomposed, medical officers have so far kept their opinion reserved on the cause of her demise.
Family did not push for answers early on
One thing that stands out is that Humaira's family did not take any legal steps before she was found.
