The bizarre UK ‘Disneyland for dogs' with splash park, attractions and treasure trails

The Sun09-07-2025
THE UK is home to an unusual theme park with a splash park and treasure trails... but it is all for dogs.
Ross & Friends Experience in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, is the UK's largest enclosed dog park.

But unlike your ordinary gated green patch of grass, Ross & Friends is home to a wealth of doggy activities for your beloved furry friend.
In the shared play space - which spans across 35acres - there are numerous activities for dogs including hidden toys, trails and even a pool for them to splash in.
A map of the attraction shows many different 'lands' including an adventure land and 'sniffari'.
Also, opening soon is the 'Itty-Bitty Playland'.
Away from the main 'safari', there are 'invisible' spaces for more reactive dogs or those who perhaps are a little more nervous.
One 'invisible' space is the 'Fairytail Forest' with a climbing castle and sandpit for pooches to explore.
Or you and your four-legged friend could head to the 'Water Woodland' with a splash creek and large pond, where dogs can swim.
In these areas you can even get café 'Room Service ' - where snacks and toys can be delivered directly to you.
If your dog happens to get a bit mucky during their playtime, there are also showers you can use.
And then if you want a refreshment yourself, there is a small cafe too.
Center Parcs launches new treetop adcventure at Longleat Forest
One recent visitor commented: "The little village area when you first arrive is full of amazing treats and toys for dogs and great food and coffee for humans too.
"Truly Disneyland for doggos!"
Another added: "It's as if someone designed a holiday resort for dogs."
One hour sessions in the Safari Park cost £11.50.
The doggy attraction is found just outside of the historic town of Berkhamsted.
Located 26miles from London, the town is home to multiple shops, pubs and cafes to explore and also the British Film Institute's BFI National Archive - which is one of the world's largest film and television archives.
You can also explore the remains of Berkhamsted Castle, which was originally built as a motte-and-bailey castle.
And for a spot of human indulgence, Champneys Tring - Britain's original health spa - is just down the road.
Stay at the stately Champney's hotel surrounded by beautiful Hertfordshire countryside
A SUN reporter stayed at Champney's Hotel Tring and this is what they thought.
WHAT'S IT LIKE?
A relaxing mix of stately home and stylish boutique hotel, surrounded by beautiful countryside.
The old stately home has undergone huge renovations to become a spa resort with the focus on creating a relaxing atmosphere for guests.
ROOMS ANY GOOD?
Very much so, with themes and prices to suit all. The decor is in keeping with tradition.
Our room was very spacious for two people, with lovely views over the countryside.
Heaps of rural charm with lovely home comfort touches including complimentary bottles of water, bath products, robes, TV and free wifi.
EAT THERE OR GRAB A PIZZA?
Don't venture out.
The restaurant serves everything from healthy salads and fish – which are marked out as low-calorie options on the menu – through to luxuries such as steak and roast lamb.
There is also a lounge to venture on to with a glass of wine or a cup of tea, and at weekends a pianist plays you to sleep before you head back to your room.
WHAT ELSE?
The spa facilities are second to none.
Multiple pools, an outdoor jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms, indoor hydrotherapy pools and relaxation rooms with dimmed lighting and water beds.
Also, if you're into fitness, there is a brand new cycle studio and urban gym.
SO YOU'D GO BACK?
Yes. If you're looking for a getaway where you don't have to leave the hotel to enjoy yourself.
The staff are incredibly friendly and you can't possibly leave without feeling much more relaxed than before.
There are a number of UK islands, cities and hotels where your dog is more welcome than you … and can even join you at the dinner table.
Plus, there is a golden retriever experience in Somerset that lets you spend the night with 30 cute dogs.

Smiling Molly-Mae Hague cuddles up to Tommy Fury while they put daughter Bambi to bed after returning from Turkey - amid criticism for saying she 'hasn't done one fun thing all summer'

Molly-Mae Hague appeared to be in excellent spirits as she shared a precious moment with her partner Tommy Fury and their daughter Bambi on Tuesday night. The former Love Island star, 26, has just returned home from a lavish family holiday in Turkey and seemed be enjoying the time back at her £4million Cheshire home. Molly took to her Instagram Stories to share an adorable photograph of herself and her boxer boyfriend, 26, putting their daughter Bambi, two, down to bed. In the sweet snap, Molly flashed a huge smile while Tommy wrapped her arm around her as they stood by Bambi's cot. Tommy was every inch the doting father as he leaned down towards Bambi, who sweetly smiled up at them both. Molly and Tommy appeared as close as ever after they rekindled their romance earlier this year, after they split in August of last year amid Tommy's struggles with alcohol. 'Family pic for the moment,' Molly gushed in an accompanying caption. In another post, Molly revealed they had marked quite the milestone for Bambi as they had got rid of her sleeping bag as they look towards moving her to a 'big girl bed'. 'We decided to say goodbye to the sleeping bag tonight... it felt weirdly emotional and a big moment?! The sleeping bag made her feel like a baby still,' she explained. 'Next step is big girl bed... but we aren't in any rush for that because she's so happy in her cot.' The family have recently returned from a luxurious £2K-per-night hotel in Turkey, which Molly described as her 'favourite week ever'. She shared a slew of photographs from the sun-soaked holiday to her Instagram as she and Tommy stayed with Bambi at the luxury five-star Regnum The Crown hotel. Shortly before her seventh trip of the year, fans blasted Molly after she claimed she 'hasn't done one fun thing' all summer despite enjoying first class trips to Dubai, Paris and Saint Tropez. But on her latest trip, influencer looked happy as she wrote: 'One of the my favourite weeks ever', as she played with Bambi in the sunshine. In another picture, Molly and Tommy coordinated in all white outfits as they posed with Bambi on an outdoor swinging chair. She admitted 'we don't want to leave' after enjoying their week at the celebrity hotspot hotel as she shared a snap of Tommy and Bambi. Sharing a number of photos to his own social media pages, Tommy gushed that he has also had 'one of the best trips ever'. Molly ruffled feathers last month across social media by claiming her summer has, thus far, been boring. 'I haven't socialised once,' she told her older sister Zoe in a recent YouTube vlog. 'I haven't done one social, fun thing... I haven't a life.' The globe-trotting influencer added: 'I haven't a life. I haven't a life. It's not good. 'It's all kids related, if it's not work and kids I am not doing anything. It's not good. People going for a drink with their friends or to a beer garden. 'Oh my gosh, I don't remember the last time I did my hair and makeup and put an outfit on for something that wasn't work related. 'I don't do anything. Lets normalise it. For the girls that are going to get to the end of summer and not done one fun thing.' However, Molly-Mae did accept that her recent trip to Wimbledon, during which she did indeed wear make-up and a £3,000 Dior dress, was a 'fun' occasion. She said: 'No that's a lie because people are going to say "You went to London in your last vlog and had a ball," and I did.' Unsurprisingly, Molly-Mae's latest comments didn't go down well with her two million-plus YouTube subscribers, with many claiming she was 'out of touch', 'tone-deaf' and 'always moaning'. The influencer started strong this summer by signing a seven-figure deal with consumer goods firm Unilever and starring in a new campaign for its detergent brand, Persil and Comfort, in May. She fronted a new 'delicate' fragrance range with her toddler Bambi, who made her campaign debut in a fluffy pink jumper and ballerina tutu. Putting her name behind their 'Heaven Scent' non-bio capsules, fabric conditioner and a scent booster elixir, Molly-Mae said: 'I can be really protective of what I use at home, especially since having Bambi. 'My skin's always been sensitive, so I need products I know are kind to my skin but still leave everything smelling amazing and this range honestly does both.' But it wasn't all work though as Molly-Mae jetted off on her sixth holiday of the year – once again to Dubai. She and Tommy travelled business class to one of the most luxurious hotels in the UAE, the five-star Jumeirah Al Naseem, where rooms cost a whopping £13,897 per night. The hotel has its own private 2km beach, a turtle rehabilitation sanctuary and an infinity pool – which the couple were pictured canoodling in. If that wasn't enough time away from home, that month Molly-Mae also visited private members' club Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds. She's not the first celebrity to be drawn to the £500-a-night retreat, with the Beckhams, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Taylor Swift also fans. Molly-Mae treated herself to a couple of nights in one of the cabins, where members can enjoy spa facilities, country bike rides and tennis. For her next trip in May, she flew on a private jet to Disneyland Paris to celebrate her 26th birthday alongside Tommy, their daughter and some of her best friends. Come June, Molly-Mae told her YouTube followers she was jetting off yet again. First to Germany for two nights for a 'secret project' and then on to the South of France to shoot the summer campaign for her clothing brand Maebe. Basking in the sunshine at a luxury villa in St Tropez, the influencer shared various snaps of herself lounging on sunbeds and dining at luxury restaurants. Later that month, Molly-Mae was whisked back to the Cotswolds for a 'surprise staycation'. This time, she and Tommy stayed at the lavish £700-a-night hotel Estelle Manor which has a swimming pool, four restaurants, spa and farm on site. She then gave a tearful defence of her comments in a separate video. She told followers: 'I don't care who tells me I am out of touch with reality or all this stuff that's going on on TikTok at the minute... I don't care. I'm not going to not talk about it.'

Stacey Solomon shares loved-up holiday snaps from rare date night with husband Joe Swash after being forced to clarify his whereabouts

Stacey Solomon has shared loved-up snaps with her husband Joe Swash after having to clarify his whereabouts on their family holiday. The TV personality, 35, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share clips from a date night on the beach with Joe during their trip. Despite previously sharing a sweet family snap with her spouse on the holiday, Stacey took to her Stories on Sunday to clarify that Joe was with her on the trip after fans queried where he was. The star posted a loved-up snap with her husband, writing: 'For everyone asking... of course Joe's here, but we have five kids so anyone with kids knows you're always on split shifts. Here's a rare photo of us from last night.' Again proving he was on the trip, Stacey shared that her sister Samantha Stone had taken the kids to the disco so that she and Joe could enjoy a rare date night. 'Mum and dad,' Stacey captioned a sweet selfie of her and Joe sipping rose wine on the beach. Stacey also shared a clip where Joe was driving them to the beach on a gold buggy, before he kissed her forehead. She later posted another video of her and Joe lying on a bench on the beach giving fans an insight into their evening. Stacey said: 'People "What did you do on your date night?" Us: Laid there in silence and didn't talk to each other. This is true love. This is true love.' 'When silence isn't awkward, it's embraced,' Joe said, as Stacey added: 'Have you even got something to rest your head on? Are you just hanging off the edge?' Joe laughed as he said: 'No this is quite uncomfortable actually. It's like the ultimate ab workout.' 'Why have you laid like that? Why have you done that?' Stacey said. Joe sweetly replied: 'Because I offered you my arm and didn't realise no one's there to offer me their arm. 'So I've just got to hover my head a little bit.' Stacey added: 'And that is true love. Suspended over a bench to make me comfortable.' It comes after Stacey hit back at trolls questioning whether her husband Joe Swash has jetted off on holiday with her. She had been sharing a glimpse at her family's summer break at a swanky £1,000-per-night hotel in Turkey. Stacey has been soaking up the sun with her five children at the Regnum Carya hotel, and has posted various snaps from the trip on Instagram. Hours earlier, Stacey showed off her figure in a plunging yellow bikini as she enjoyed a ride on a rubber ring going down a water slide. The star admitted she was hoping to avoid washing her hair by using heatless curlers, and it proved to be a success as she displayed her bouncy waves in her hotel room later in the evening. Stacey is currently away with her husband Joe Swash, 43, as well as their children, Rex, five, Rose, three, and Belle, two, as well as Stacey's older sons Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 12, from two previous relationships. Stacey and Joe have long been regulars at Regnum Carya. Prices at the lavish hotel begin at £1,000 per night. Prior to her meal at Nikos, she had a girly day with daughters Belle and Rose, with the trio all wearing matching outfits.

Foundation set up in Southport victim's name to spread ‘magic'

The parents of one of the victims of the Southport attack hope to spread 'magic' through a foundation set up in her name to encourage children's love of dance. Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, was killed along with Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and six-year-old Bebe King when Axel Rudakubana, 18, launched his knife attack on a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in the town on July 29 last year. Her parents Sergio and Alexandra Aguiar told BBC Breakfast on Wednesday they have set up the Alice's WonderDance foundation in their daughter's memory. Mrs Aguiar said her daughter began dancing when she was 16 or 17-months-old and danced 'non-stop' from then. She said: 'Alice's WonderDance is a foundation we created in the name of Alice just to show everyone how wonderful Alice was. 'We just want to provide fun for children in the world of dance.' She said the logo for the charity features ballet shoes and a magic wand to 'spread the magic in her name'. Money raised could go towards dance classes for after-school clubs, uniforms for children or university funding for young dancers, Mrs Aguiar said. Mr Aguiar is set to take on six marathons across the world to raise funds, starting in Berlin next month. He said: 'Every mile I run is for her and her name. I just think about her.' He ran the London Marathon earlier in the year to raise money for a new playground at Churchtown Primary School, where Alice was a pupil. The family said they have received support from Elsie's Story and Bebe's Hive – funds set up in memory of the other two victims. Mr Aguiar said: 'We try to work together like a team, try to help each other.' Family friend Sarah Buck told the programme the foundation is also selling merchandise, including T-shirts, bags and hats, to raise money.
