This Is The Perfect Throw-On Dress, So I'm Buying It In Every Colour Before It Sells Out

This Is The Perfect Throw-On Dress, So I'm Buying It In Every Colour Before It Sells Out

Graziadaily06-08-2025
When it comes to a capsule wardrobe, versatility is key. That's why, every time I add a new piece to my clothing rotation, it has to pair effortlessly with my stalwart staples, such as my favourite suede jacket or my go-to biker boots. Lately, I've fallen head over heels for a particularly versatile mini dress from Free People. Why? Not only is it versatile enough to work perfectly with my existing favourites, but it also doubles as a blouse and even works as nightwear.
Originally designed as part of the Free People Intimately collection, the In This Groove Mini Slip dress features romantic lace detailing and a boho tiered design. One scroll through your chosen social media platform and you'll see a plethora of fashion lovers wearing the mini slip in its carousel of available colours, from Country Air (a crisp white) to striking Poppy Red. For my part, I'm half tempted to snap up the Limon Ice iteration just before my trip to Seville later this month. 1.
In This Groove Mini Slip, Tofu
Price: £108
Shop the off-white tofu version of the slip dress and pair it with brown cowboy boots for a touch of western charm.
The ubiquity of the Free People slip dress shouldn't come as a surprise, given its ability to be worn both off and on the couch. Lately, thanks to the likes ofIf Only If, we've seen an increase in well-dressed women wearing nightgown-adjacent dresses beyond the bedroom. This can loosely be traced back to the runway, with Chloé endorsing loose-fitting, lace dresses for spring/summer 2025.
Of course, its versatility doesn't end there. Plenty of fashion influencers have chosen to style the frothy dress as a blouse, layering the slip mini on top of a boxy white t-shirt and flared, noughties-style jeans. To finish the outfit, wear with a pair of tassel-style loafers or bold retro trainers for a pop of colour. Then, accessorise accordingly: wear a headscarf for a chic twist or opt for square lens sunglasses for a cool-girl touch.
Alternatively, wear it on its own as intended, and inject western charm with a pair of cowboy boots. For errand runs, sling a Dragon Diffusion tote bag over your shoulder, and for dinner plans, opt for a small, stylish clutch such as the Fendi Spy bag.
For now, though, shop the Free People dress below, before it sells out. 2.
In This Groove Mini Slip, Olive
Price: £108
For a muted pop of colour, opt for the olive version. Layer with gold necklaces and wear with gold rings and bangles. The chunkier, the better. 3.
In This Groove Mini Slip, Parfait
Price: £108
The parfait pink iteration is ultra feminine and will work well with knitwear once the weather turns cooler. 4.
In This Groove Mini Slip, Limon Ice
Price: £108
Have a last-minute summer trip planned? The Limon ice iteration of the mini slip is especially refreshing. 5.
In This Groove Mini Slip, Poppy Red
Price: £108
Bright and bold, the poppy red version is a great choice for the summer months. 6.
In This Groove Mini Slip, Aloe Wash
Price: £108
This cool green colour is great for trips abroad. The only accessory you'll need is a mint chocolate chip ice cream. 7.
In This Groove Mini Slip, Black
Price: £108
Keep it classic and chic with the black version of the slip dress. Pair with cool-girl leather look jackets or suede blazers.

This Dated Top Trend Is Taking Over Instagram – Be Prepared To Want To Buy A Sheer Cape Top

@Getty/ Instagram @bellahadid It's pretty rare for a 'nice top' outfit not to work for an upcoming plan in the diary. Off to dinner? Wear a cami top and jeans. Looking for a last minute holiday outfit? Try a boho blousewith jorts. The styling potential is quite literally endless. And while I'll always be a fan of a humble white T-shirt or a trusty tank top, I'm on the lookout for new tops to rotate that'll add interest. I'm quite taken by thestriped rugby style tops that were doing the rounds at CPHFW, but I've spotted a certain style making a comeback that's taken me by surprise. Cape tops are everywhere right now, but they were once seen as the poncho style tops from 2002 – the likes of Hilary Duff wore – that quickly dated. And I remember my local Norwich market couldn't get enough of them when I was a teenager. Now, though, they've had a chic upgrade. Less poncho and more cape, it's sheer iterations I'm most interested in, and it appears I'm not the only one. Turns out, it's the only thing Bella Hadidand I have in common, as the supermodel was spotted on Instagram wearing a knitted version this week. While I appreciate the draped top style, for me, I'm more interested in the floaty peek-a-boo look that so many fashion insiders have been wearing. Take a look at Nina Sandbech(below) for example, here, she's wearing New Arrivals berry shade flared trousers with a floor-sweeping cape over a bralette. So. Damn. Chic. 1. New Arrivals Vivi Cape You can pre-order Nina's exact top from New Arrivals, and no doubt you'll want the matching top and trousers for the full look while you're there! The general consensus with the 2025 version of cape tops is that sheer is key, the floatier the better and dramatic voluminous styles get a firm yes. Claudia (left) is also seen wearing the New Arrivals style, but it's not just designers who have tapped into the trend. Enna (right) can be seen styling a Mango iteration with a mini skirt and flip flops. Of course the easy holiday hero sold out quickly, but I've found so many other cape tops from the likes of Free People and Jigsaw that'll fill the void. While these tops are of course a summery style that you'll want to throw on over a bikini on holiday, or even as an alternative wedding guest outfit (it's not just abouta dress, you know), they'll also work for the season ahead. If you're not into the sheer look – it can be trickier to style – then the likes of Cos and Zara have already dropped pre-fall styles in thicker materials that you'll want to take through to autumn. Trust me, these cape tops are about to be everywhere! 2. Jaded London Infinity Multiway Cape In black, gold or silver, you can style this cape so many ways so it'll be the best £40 you spend this summer. I love how it looks across one shoulder with jeans and heels for a night out. 3. Free People Carly Cape Top Did someone say boho? With lace and ruffles being seen on everything from dresses and skirts to tops, I couldn't not include this Free People version. I'm seeing it worn with jeans and a big suede tote bag for the full Chloé-esque package. 4. Zara Studded Scarf Cape This one is slightly thicker than the sheer styles we're seeing a lot of, but I love it. The studs, the scarf neckline – try it out with some balloon trousers and flip flops for one of those in-between weather days. 5. Cos Asymmetric Double Knit Wool Cape If you're already fully focused on your new season wardrobe, luckily most brands have already started dropping pre-fall collections so you can get ahead. This cape is fresh in from Cos, and I'll be styling it with tailored wide-leg trousers – as seen above. 6. Jigsaw Sheer Linen Blend Poncho Jigsaw has called this top a 'sheer poncho', but whatever you choose to call it, we like how it'll look over a bikini top or bralette with wide-leg trousers or Bermuda shorts. And it also comes in cream, FYI. 7. Zimmermann Cropped Cape Denim Blouse Ticking off the Western trend a lot of us have been keen to achieve, this cape top wouldn't look out of place with jorts or jeans for a double denim hit. Add cowboy boots or clogs if you're dedicated to the cause. 8. Wolflamb Gabriela Cape Barcelona-based brand Wolflamb has created cape tops to match its wedding-ready dresses. And it comes in not one, not two but ten different colours – including white for any brides to be. 9. Arakii Flowy Silk Cape It's a thing of beauty, right? This zebra print cape top – by Stockholm brand Arakii – is one you'll want to wear as your new 'nice top' with jeans. But also with shorts, mini skirts, swimwear and practically anything else just so you can wear it on repeat.

There's 13,000 People On The Waitlist For This Jacket, And We Know When It's Back

What's better than a new jacket? A two-for-one jacket. And this is one of the many reasons Damson Madder's reversible 'Jerry' cropped trench has already sold out within a matter of days of landing on-site. One side khaki, the other plaid, we're not surprised this cropped trench coat has been all over socials. We were just telling you how the new Damson Madder pre-fall collection has already started dropping, and how damn good it is. But we didn't quite realise how eager we would all be to shop autumn already. With that being said, though, we all know how the best coats and jackets are always the first to sell out, way before the month we actually need to wear them. Which is probably why everyone has been extra keen to know when this particular DM coat is getting restocked. And when we say everyone, we mean everyone , as the London-label has told us a huge 13,000 people have already signed up for the 'back in stock' alert. And we expect it to be a stampede to try and get the Jerry before it inevitably sells out all over again. Want to get ahead of the queue? Damson Madder founder, Emma Hill, told us when it'll land back on site. But firstly, here's the link to the jacket in question so you too can join the waitlist – simply add your email along with the size you're after in the 'notify me when available' box. 1. Damson Madder Reversible Jerry Crop Trench Coat So, we've been told that the Jerry is due to be restocked in *drumroll* October. That means it's only a couple of months to wait if you didn't get it the first time around. Want even more good news? The brand will also be dropping it in a brand new colourway in November, so you've got double the chance to get your hands on the trench style. On the hunt for a reversible jacket you can get sooner? The likes of Kitri, Nobody's Child and Free People also have new-in. styles you can shop already. 2. Damson Madder Mercedes Reversible Trench While we all wait patiently for that cropped trench to come back, luckily, Damson Madder has other styles to fill the void. This longer trench in red and pink plaid can be reversed into a cream version. So cute with jeans and loafers. 3. Kitri Theodora Reversible Quilted Jacket Depending on your mood, you can go maximalist with the zebra side or flip it inside out and go for cream. The best part is, though, you still get zebra piping when it's cream, so it'll give a hint of interest if you choose the plain side. 4. By Anthropologie Reversible Quilted Oversized Jacket With a classic navy quilt on one side and heritage checks on the other, you're bound to wear this one on heavy rotation with pretty much any outfit. Add flat knee-high boots for the full country girl aesthetic. 5. Nobody's Child Burgundy Floral Reversible Quilted Jacket If you like your outerwear to be the outfit, then you'll want this Nobody's Child style. In burgundy and cream scarf print, it'll work just as well with jorts for now as it will with a skirt and boots come autumn. 6. Aligne Barnaby Reversible Trench Coat We've already seen this Aligne coat doing the rounds, so no doubt it'll be a hero item later in the year. All the best outerwear always sells out first, so we strongly suggest getting this reversible navy and cream trench ASAP. If you're holding out for the Jerry, here's some outfit inspiration from the fashion girlies on Insta and TikTok who were some of the lucky ones to get the first drop. No matter how you wear this cropped-trench-coat-of-dreams, we fully get why it's sold out immediately. Siranda wore hers for Copenhagen Fashion Week, the checked side clashed with a striped mini shirt dress and customised tie. And we love how it looks worn open with the collar detail hanging loose. Meanwhile, Rebecca has said what we're all thinking, 'brb, going to make this trench my whole personality', styling hers – the khaki side – buttoned to the top with the collar tied like thetriangle scarves last autumn.
