A fee of 75million euros (£65m) was agreed on Sunday after the Bundesliga champions returned with an offer closer to what the club consider to be the Colombia international's market value.
Diaz was given permission to leave and has now departed Tokyo, where the team are preparing for Wednesday's match against Yokohama F. Marinos, for Germany.

The forward, who turns 29 in January, had been pushing for a move since last summer and after two attempts to agree an extension to the two years he has remaining on his contract failed due to the gap in expectations, Liverpool reluctantly accepted his departure was inevitable – but only for a suitable price.
Hugo Ekitike's arrival last week means the club have already bolstered their attacking options and they maintain an interest in Newcastle's wantaway striker Alexander Isak.
The completion of the sale of Diaz, who cost the club £42m plus £3.4m in add-ons, will see Liverpool's income from transfers in the last year top £190m.

Trump opens his new Scottish golf course before return to US to ‘put out fires'

The US president teed off at The New Course in Menie in front of a crowd including golfers, the Scottish First Minister and the Scottish Labour leader. Mr Trump also made reference to late James Bond actor Sir Sean Connery's reported support for his golf resort – even attempting to recreate the actor's voice. Just before hitting the first ball at the New Course, the US president told those gathered on a grandstand: 'We started with a beautiful piece of land, but we made it much more beautiful. Mr Trump is concluding his trip to Scotland (Jane Barlow/PA) 'The area has really welcomed us. If you remember at the beginning there wasn't quite a welcome, but it wasn't bad. 'But with time they liked us more and more, now they love us and we love them.' Mr Trump added: 'I look forward to playing it today. 'We'll play it very quickly and then I go back to DC and we put out fires all over the world. 'We did one yesterday – you know we stopped the war. We've stopped about five wars. 'That's much more important than playing golf. As much as I like it, it's much more important.' At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the president thanked his son Eric for his role in creating the new 18-hole course, adding: 'This has been an unbelievable development. 'The land, they said it couldn't get zoned, it was an impossibility. 'And Sean Connery said 'let the bloody bloke build his golf course'. 'Once he said that everything came into line. John (Swinney) and I were talking about that last night.' The president thanked his son Eric, who was involved in the creation of the new course (Jane Barlow/PA) The president met First Minister Mr Swinney on Monday evening at a private dinner, and the two had a more formal meeting on Tuesday ahead of the course opening. This meeting is understood to have focused on Scotch whisky tariffs and the situation in Gaza. Mr Trump will head back to the US later on Tuesday on Air Force One, as his Scottish visit comes to a close. Construction of the new course in Menie began in 2023, with Mr Trump and his son Eric breaking ground on the project. Trump International Scotland claims the two courses will be the 'greatest 36 holes in golf'. Critics say the Trump developments in Scotland have not delivered as many jobs as promised and work at the Menie site has caused environmental damage. Members of the media watched the opening ceremony from a grandstand, with music played beforehand including Roxanne, Thriller, and Surfin' USA, plus music by the Script and Elvis. The president has already played several rounds of golf during his Scottish trip, teeing off at his other resort in Turnberry, South Ayrshire, on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Earlier on Tuesday, Mr Trump hit out at the UK's taxes on North Sea oil, saying the natural resource is a 'treasure chest' for the country. He wrote on Truth Social: 'They have essentially told drillers and oil companies that, 'we don't want you'. Donald Trump has tried out the new course at Menie (Jane Barlow/PA) 'Incentivize the drillers, fast. 'A vast fortune to be made for the UK, and far lower energy costs for the people!' The US president's fifth and final day in Scotland on Tuesday follows a meeting and press conference with Sir Keir Starmer on Monday. As they met at Turnberry for bilateral talks on trade and the situation in Gaza, Mr Trump and Sir Keir took part in what proved to be a lengthy media event, with the president discussing a number of topics. The Republican Party leader spoke of his 'great love' for Scotland and said he wanted to see the nation 'thrive'. The president also hosted a dinner at Menie with members of his family and guests including the Prime Minister. A demonstration took place in Balmedie, near the resort, on Monday. A small number of protesters sat at the roadside in the centre of the village, surrounded by cardboard signs bearing anti-Trump slogans.

The stunning £330million transfer merry-go-round that will kick-off when Luis Diaz leaves Liverpool

LUIS DIAZ'S impending move to Bayern Munich is set to spark an incredible transfer merry-go-round with implications for several Premier League clubs. The Colombian star, 28, is set to quit Liverpool for Bayern in a £65million deal. 3 With Diaz heading to Germany, the Reds are set to go hell for leather to sign wantaway Newcastle star Alexander Isak. The Swede, 25, last week informed the Toon that he wants to leave St James' Park. Isak has not gone on his club's pre-season Asia tour amid intense transfer speculation. Reports suggest that the prolific striker has agreed personal terms with Liverpool. But the Reds will have to cough up a huge fee for the deal to happen. With three years remaining on Isak's contract, Newcastle are demanding £150m for their star man. The two clubs are set to meet in the coming days, with Liverpool reportedly believing that they can whittle the Toon's asking price down to £120m. Should Liverpool land their man, Newcastle's desperate striker search will intensify further. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK 3 Eddie Howe 's side have already been knocked back by Hugo Ekitike, who instead headed to Liverpool in a £79m move. Newcastle are now targeting RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, who is claimed to be available for around £70m. Having also let Isak's deputy Callum Wilson leave on a free transfer earlier this summer, the Toon may need to recruit more than one striker in the coming weeks. Ollie Watkins, rated at between £40m and £45m by Aston Villa, is on Newcastle's radar. While fellow Premier League stars Yoane Wissa and Nicolas Jackson have also been linked. Newcastle's swoops could be scuppered by Manchester United, who continue to lurk in the striker market. 3 TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - KEEP UP WITH ALL THE LATEST FROM A BUSY SUMMER WINDOW The Red Devils have already splurged around £130m on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. But despite this expensive outlay, Ruben Amorim 's side are believed to still be coveting a central striker. SunSport understands that Sesko and Watkins are Man Utd's top two striker targets. Aston Villa have so far resisted enquiries for Watkins this summer. Should their stance change, Unai Emery 's side would surely swoop for a striker before the August deadline. SunSport reported yesterday that free agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin has caught Villa's eye.

Google launches AI Mode in the UK amid ‘major shift' in online search

Hailed as its most 'powerful AI search to date', the US tech giant is launching AI Mode in Google Search across the UK this week, allowing users to ask lengthy and complicated questions, as well as follow-ups. AI Mode will start to appear as a tab on the Google Search results page and in the Google app for Android and Apple smartphones from Tuesday, and will be available to all UK users over the next few days. The function was launched in the US at the end of May, followed by India earlier in July, and comes in addition to Google's AI Overview, which is now built into its searches. Hema Budaraju, Google's vice president of product management for search, told the PA news agency it heralds a 'major shift' in the way people are using online searches, with questions now becoming longer and more complex. In a blog announcing the launch, Ms Budaraju said: 'AI Mode is a new, intuitive way to address your most complex, multi-part questions and follow-ups, and satisfy your curiosity in a richer way.' She added: 'AI Mode is particularly helpful for exploratory questions and for more complicated tasks like comparing products, planning a trip or understanding complex how-tos. 'In fact, we've found that early users of AI Mode are asking questions that are two or three times the length of traditional search queries.' The tool is powered by Google's latest AI model, Gemini 2.5, and allows users to ask nuanced questions that would have previously required multiple searches. The new search works by breaking down questions into sub-topics and sending out a range of queries on the behalf of users. It will also allow so-called multimodal searches, either by text, voice or pictures. Ms Budaraju said it should make it possible for people to 'find information that was previously much harder to find'. 'This is the beginning of a major shift,' she told PA. Google said it was improving factuality, but that where AI Mode is not confident in the answer, it will instead provide a set of web search results. 'And as with any early-stage AI product, we won't always get it right, but we are committed to continuous improvement,' Ms Budaraju said.
