Mia marks Miss SA'crowniversary' - will she be the longest-reigning queen?
The model became the pageant's first hearing-impaired winner in the history of the competition.
With new organisers on board, a date has yet to be set for the handover to Mia's successor. Could she be the longest-reigning queen?
On Sunday, 10 August – a day after the country celebrated Women's Day – Miss SA organisers marked the first anniversary of Mia Le Roux's reign.
'Happy crowniversary!' the official social media account posted.
In her first Instagram post since being crowned, Mia shared: 'What an unbelievable feeling. I have so much gratitude in my heart for each one of you who has supported me and rallied behind me ❤️
The differently-abled Miss SA continued: 'We created a new generation of believers. Every little girl out there who has felt different because they are not what society expects them to be will realise they are so wildly capable, just like I am'.
With the Miss SA pageant indefinitely postponed, Mia Le Roux is expected to serve beyond her year of reign and official duties.
The title of the longest-reigning winner belongs to Marilyn Ramos, who served almost 16 months in her position.
Marilyn was crowned in December 2012, crowning her successor, Rolene Strauss, on 30 March 2024. Former Miss SA winner Marilyn Ramos is the longest-reigning queen.Images via Instagram:

‘Ladies first' at Zappas Women's Day bash
Zappas Restaurant celebrated Women's Day with a lively celebration on Saturday, featuring a world record attempt and a focus on 'old-school' gentlemanly respect for women. Restaurant manager Chrisna Oosthuizen said the event formed part of the eatery's month-long Ladies First campaign. For a whole month, her restaurant is embracing the 'Ladies First' theme, encouraging a nod to old-school courtesy with a world-record attempt. 'This is to remind the ladies that although we are in a man's world, we are still women. We should still be treated like women and with equality.' The goal was to gather at least 472 women in the bar at exactly 18:00. This would have made it the biggest gathering of women in one bar at the same time. All the women who turned out were treated to free punch, special menus, and souvenirs that would leave them feeling seen and appreciated during Women's Month. Although the turnout was spirited and the energy vibrant, they ultimately did not manage to break the record. 'This is not only about breaking a record but also about reclaiming space for women in an atmosphere that felt both celebratory and respectful, where they were the honoured guests,' she said. Attendee Kgomotso Madumo said the event was a welcome chance to relax. 'It's not every day that women get treated like queens for free. I came with my friends and we felt safe and appreciated. The free punch was a nice touch,' she said. Another guest, Karin van der Westhuizen, said she enjoyed the atmosphere and message behind the day. 'The idea of reminding men to be gentlemen is beautiful. In a world where violence against women is still so high, events like these are important for awareness and unity,' she said. Rosefest: How Shekhinah created a girls' girl festival
Shekhinah prioritised women's safety with security and a free shuttle service to and from the overflow parking. Singer-songwriter Shekhinah hosted her annual music festival, the Rosefest, on Women's Day. By doing so, she created a safe space for women to enjoy music and have a great time in each other's company. The Rosefest was established in 2019, and Shekhinah created it as an all-female music festival celebrating women's empowerment. This year's Rosefest was held at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Roodepoort. ALSO READ: Anthony Hamilton, Joe Thomas and Zonke light up Women's Day concert at Wanderers Stadium, despite technical glitches Dispelling PHD myths There are beliefs that women can't enjoy each other's company, that there's a tendency of women to undermine or discourage other women, often in professional or social settings. This is known as the Pull Her Down (PHD) syndrome. However, Shekhinah's Rosefest was also a space for love among the females who celebrated their femininity through song, dance, fashion and all-around fun. There were free activities like face painting, a photo booth with a print-out stand and roses made from crinkled paper. The sip and paint was also a favourite for most of the women in attendance. The crinkled paper rose garden made the setup prettier. It was reminiscent of her second album, Trouble in Paradise. On Friday, a day before the festival, Shekhinah released her third studio album, Less Trouble. Patrons had the opportunity to listen to the new album in the listening booth. It was like being at an old school music store where you could listen to an album before purchasing it. With the Rosefest, Shekhinah prioritised safety with security and a free shuttle service to and from the overflow parking, which was about 1.6km from the venue. The variety of performers on stage was accommodating to the diverse female audience, from Amapiano, a bit of jazz, house, hip hop and R&B. Zoë Modiga and Zee Nxumalo were some of the standout acts on the day, although all the performers gave their audience a fun experience, as they looked like they were having fun performing on stage. R&B singer Elaine's performance was also one of the special ones, and it was made better because she performed during sunset. Shekhinah herself performed in the backdrop of a full moon shining over the venue, which made the whole experience more intimate. NOW READ: Sobzeen launches debut album years after ghostwriting hits
