Heat to get Norman Powell, Clippers land John Collins in 3-team trade
July 7 (UPI) -- The Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz agreed to a three-team swap, which will send Norman Powell to Miami, John Collins to Los Angeles and Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson and a second-round pick to Utah.
Sources told ESPN, The Athletic and the Miami Herald about the agreement Monday.
Powell, 32, averaged a career-high 21.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game over 60 starts last season fora the Clippers. The 10-year veteran averaged 13.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game over the first 617 appearances of his career.
Powell, a second-round pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, is only signed through next season. He is to make $20.4 million in 2025-26.
Collins, 27, averaged 19 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game over 40 appearances last season for the Jazz. The eight-year veteran averaged 16 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and a block per game over the first 472 appearances of his career.
Collins, the No. 19 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, exercised his $26.5 million player option for 2025-26 last month.
Love, 36, averaged a career-low 5.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game over 23 appearances last season for the Heat. The five-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection averaged 16.2 points and 10 rebounds through the first 17 seasons of his career. He is set to earn $4.1 million in 2025-26, the final year of his contract.
Anderson, 31, averaged 5.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game over 61 appearances last season. He posted 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and a steal per game over the first 11 years of his career.
Anderson is signed through 2026-27. He is set to make $9.2 million in 2025-26 and $9.6 million in 2026-27.

The Golden State Warriors have had over 600 players don the more than 60 jersey numbers used by their players over the more than 75 years of existence the team has enjoyed in its rich and storied history. Founded in 1946 during the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- a precursor league of the NBA) era, the team has called home the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Warriors Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the 12th of 16 players who wore the No. 18 jersey for the Warriors. That player would be Golden State wing alum Marco Belinelli. After starting his pro career abroad, Belinelli was picked up with the 18th overall selection of the 2007 NBA draft by the Dubs. The San Giovanni in Persiceto, Italy native would play the first two seasons of his NBA career with Golden State, coming to an end when he was dealt to the Toronto Raptors in 2009. Brooklyn Nets jersey history No. 21 - Tim Bassett (1975-80)
The Brooklyn Nets have 52 jersey numbers worn by over 600 different players over the course of their history since the franchise was founded in 1967 as a charter member of the American Basketball Association (ABA), when the team was known as the "New Jersey Americans". Since then, that league has been absorbed by the NBA with the team that would later become the New York Nets and New Jersey Nets before settling on the name by which they are known today, bringing their rich player and jersey history with them to the league of today. To commemorate the players who played for the Nets over the decades wearing those 52 different jersey numbers, Nets Wire is covering the entire history of the franchise's jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. The 22nd of those 52 different numbers is jersey No. 21, which has has had a total of 26 players wear the number in the history of the team. The fifth of those players wearing No. 21 played in the (then) New York and New Jersey (now, Brooklyn) Nets eras, forward alum Tim Bassett. After ending his college career at Georgia, Bassett was picked up with the 106th overall selection (there were many more rounds in that era of the draft) of the 1973 NBA Draft by the (then) Buffalo Braves (now, Boston Celtics - it's a long story). The Washington, District of Columbia native would play the first two seasons of his pro career with the (defunct) San Diego Conquistadors instead, electing to play in the ABA instead. He would be dealt to New York in 1975, his stay with the team spanning parts of five seasons that ended when he was cut in 1980.
