Man dead, troopers in stable condition after shooting in northeastern Pa.
Col. Paris identified the troopers who were shot as Joseph Perechinsky and William Jenkins and said they are in stable condition at this time.
The investigation began just after 11:00 a.m. Thursday when the troopers responded to a welfare check where shots were reportedly fired in the area of State Route 171 in Thompson Township, Paris said. When they arrived, a man opened fire on the troopers, according to PSP.
'A coordinated response by multiple Pennsylvania State Police units and local law enforcement agencies led to the establishment of a secure perimeter around the scene. The suspect was armed with a rifle, refused to comply with commands, and was ultimately shot and killed during the incident. There is no remaining threat to the public,' troopers stated in a media release.
Paris said that additional details about the initial dispatch will be released at a later time.

'They are very lucky to be alive. Trooper Perechinsky was able to place a tourniquet to Trooper Jenkins, and despite both of their patrol cars being riddled with bullets, a third trooper was able to get in and evacuate them and the incident evolved from there,' Paris explained.
The scene in Susquehanna County remains very active and information on the suspect will be released at a later time.
Paris said Perechinsky and Jenkins are the fifth and sixth troopers that have been shot since January of 2023, with one of those instances being fatal.
Pennsylvania State Police are expected to hold a news conference at 6:00 p.m. to pride updated information.

Monrovia Home Depot vigil planned for man who died allegedly fleeing immigration operation
A vigil is planned outside a Monrovia Home Depot store Friday night for a man who died as he was allegedly fleeing Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers Thursday morning. The National Day Laborer Organizing Network is hosting the 6 p.m. event in memory of the man who died, who has not yet been identified. "The worker was fleeing an unannounced raid by immigration agents, the latest in an ongoing wave of violent, chaotic kidnappings and assaults that ICE and other agencies are waging at Home Depots and other locations across Southern California," the group said in a statement. The Monrovia Police Department said the man ran away from the Home Depot at 1625 Mountain Avenue as ICE agents approached the hardware store. The man crossed Evergreen Avenue and ran onto the 210 Freeway less than 10 minutes after the agents arrived, according to the City of Monrovia. He was struck by an SUV on the freeway and later died at the hospital. According to the Department of Homeland Security, agents were not pursuing the man. Immigration rights advocates said 10 people were detained during Thursday's operation. Homeland Security was unaware of the man's death until CHP contacted the agency hours after its operation ended. Protesters responded to the man's death and staged a rally at the Monrovia Home Depot on Thursday. The Home Depot is in the district represented by Sen. Sasha Renée Pérez. "There is such incredible fear in our immigrant communities, so much so that people will run into freeway traffic out of fear when all they want is a chance to support their family and seek the American Dream," the senator said in a statement. She called for an end to what she described as violent and sweeping.

Roblox Case at SEC Concluded in May, Agency Document Shows
The US Securities and Exchange Commission concluded a case involving the online video-game platform Roblox Corp. in May, according to a document seen by Bloomberg News. The case was opened in October and finished seven months later, according to a May 13 'Case Closing Report.' It was shared with Bloomberg by Joe O'Donnell, chief executive officer of Canary Data, an AI intelligence platform for investors, who said he obtained the report under a Freedom of Information Act request. The document doesn't describe the nature of the investigation or whether it made any determination.
