Speaking to reporters at the Patna airport, Chirag said instead of making excuses for Congress failure in election, Rahul should do introspection as to why his party has been losing elections in state after state.
Addressing the 'Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan' at Rajgir on Friday, Rahul reiterated his commitment to caste census and removing the 50% cap on reservations. Rahul also attacked the NDA govt and said Bihar has become the crime capital of the country.
Chirag was on way to Muzaffarpur to meet the bereaved family of the dalit girl, who was raped and brutally assaulted on May 26 leading to her death at the PMCH.
"They ruled the country for over five decades since independence. Whenever elections are round the corner, like there is in Bihar, Rahul raises such issues to hide his party's failure," Chirag said.
On Rahul's comment on law & order, the Hajipur MP said though his party is not a part of the govt in the state or its decision-making, he has expressed his concern to CM Nitish Kumar.
Taking a dig at the Congress MP, Chirag asked under whose govt the court first said that the CBI was a caged parrot. He further questioned the Congress leader why its govt for 10 years before Narendra Modi became the PM in 2014 never talked about caste census, raising quota bar and special status to Bihar.
On Rahul's "surrender" jibe at PM, Chirag said the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha was indulging in petty politics.
"He knows they are going to lose the Bihar assembly elections as well... Till now, they were blaming EVMs. Now they have found a new excuse of rigging the voter list," he said.

Sachin Pilot, Ashok Gehlot Bury The Hatchet? Two Congress Leaders Meet After Years Of Rift
Last Updated: Sachin Pilot called on Ashok Gehlot to invite him to a family event, triggering speculations about a possible reconciliation between the two leaders. Raising speculations about a possible reconciliation, Congress general secretary Sachin Pilot met former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot in Jaipur on Saturday. Pilot called on Gehlot to invite him to the tribute ceremony for his father and former union minister Rajesh Pilot, scheduled for June 11 in Dausa. However, none of the two leaders directly and publicly opened up about their speculated patchup. Pilot's father had passed away in a road accident in June 2000. Pilot-Gehlot Reconciliation On Cards? The duo had engaged in a political feud over the state Congress leadership, which led to a massive crisis in 2020. This meeting was the first one in years, triggering speculations of a likely reconciliation. 'AICC General Secretary Shri @SachinPilot invited me to a program organised on the 25th death anniversary of former union minister Rajesh Pilot at his residence. Rajesh Pilot ji and I entered the Lok Sabha together for the first time in 1980 and remained Members of Parliament together for nearly 18 years. The sorrow of his untimely demise still lingers with us. His passing was also a great loss to the party," Gehlot posted on X, where he also shared the video of the meeting, in which it was all smiles around. आज पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री @ashokgehlot51 जी से मुलाकात की।मेरे पिता स्व. राजेश पायलट जी की 25वीं पुण्यतिथि पर 11 जून को दौसा में आयोजित श्रद्धांजलि समारोह में उन्हें शामिल होने के लिए निवेदन किया। — Sachin Pilot (@SachinPilot) June 7, 2025 Pilot-Gehlot Rift The differences between the two leaders stem from Congress's Assembly poll victory in 2018, in which then state party chief, Sachin Pilot, was largely given the credit for the results in the elections. However, the Chief Ministerial post went to Ashok Gehlot for a third time, and Pilot was made his deputy. In July 2020, Pilot led a rebellion against Gehlot, the CM of his own party, along with 18 loyal MLAs, as he accused the senior Congress leader of ignoring young leaders and not respecting his role as the head of the state Congress party. Gehlot responded to Pilot's accusations with a 'nikamma" and 'nakara" (useless and incompetent) charge, accusing him of siding with the rival BJP to topple his government. As a result, Pilot was stripped of his Deputy CM role and PCC chief. Attempts were made by top Congress leadership, including Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, to mediate between the two, however, it remained inconsequential. Congress was later voted out of power in 2023. TNCC president Selvaperunthagai slams centre over GST, delimitation and Murugan conference
COIMBATORE: Tamilnadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai strongly criticised the BJP-led Central government on Saturday, questioning its intent and fairness on multiple fronts, including GST allocation, parliamentary seat delimitation, and cultural politics. Speaking to reporters at the Coimbatore airport, Selvaperunthagai said, "How can a government that failed to ensure fair GST distribution across states promise a just delimitation of parliamentary constituencies?" He accused the Centre of deliberately ignoring Tamil Nadu's interests. "Tamil Nadu is the third largest GST contributor in the country, yet we don't receive our rightful share. The BJP government continues to treat Tamil Nadu as less than an equal state," he said, calling the move a betrayal. Referring to the recent Lord Murugan conference organised by the Union government, the TN Congress leader questioned its motive. "Our Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department had already held a Murugan conference. Why the need now for a second one by the Union government? If they truly believe in equality, they should hold such events in Gujarat or Uttar Pradesh too," he said, alleging an attempt to stir fear among people. Commenting on Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Tamil Nadu, he said the BJP was seeking to create chaos in the state. "But the people of Tamil Nadu are politically aware. There is no space for the BJP or the RSS in this land," he added. On the proposed parliamentary delimitation, Selvaperunthagai warned that increasing the number of seats from 545 to 1,000 could dilute Tamil Nadu's voice in Parliament. "Even today, Tamil Nadu struggles to get ten minutes of speaking time. With 1,000 MPs, it might be just two minutes. That's not justice," he said. He demanded that the Union government immediately conduct a caste-wise census and stop delaying it under flimsy pretexts.

Bengaluru stampede: Police had warned Karnataka govt before RCB victory event, says report
Days after a deadly stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium claimed 11 lives during celebrations for Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) maiden IPL win, it has come to light that senior police officers had warned the Karnataka government about the risks of holding a felicitation event at the Vidhana Soudha. A letter written on the day of the tragedy by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) MN Karibasavana Gowda on June 4, and accessed by TOI, had cautioned top bureaucrats about possible overcrowding and lack of security during RCB felicitation at Vidhana Soudha. Gowda had also emphasised that the area lacked proper CCTV coverage and was a sensitive government zone. Gowda, who was in charge of legislature security, wrote to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) secretary G Sathyavathi, warning that 'lakhs of cricket fans are likely to come to Vidhana Soudha,' and pointed out that a shortage of security personnel would make crowd control difficult. 'Lakhs of cricket fans are likely to come to Vidhana Soudha. Since there is a shortage of security personnel, making bandobast will be a problem,' Gowda's letter, quoted by TOI, said. A few hours before the crowd surge, senior IAS officer G Sathyavathi, who was in charge of managing the event at the Vidhana Soudha steps, publicly asked fans to go to the nearby stadium instead. The RCB team was first honoured at the legislature, and then the celebrations continued at the stadium. The report further details how Gowda's note was also shared with the then Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda, who further escalated it to the chief secretary Shalini Rajneesh. But the event still got official clearance. B Dayananda was suspended by Karnataka's home department a day after the incident, citing serious lapses in planning and coordination during the RCB victory celebrations. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticised the Congress-led state government, calling it 'a complete failure in crowd management.' 'Everyone knew a massive crowd would gather after RCB's win. Still, no adequate security or traffic measures were in place,' said union minister G Kishan Reddy. Former Karnataka chief minister and union minister HD Kumaraswamy directly blamed deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar, labelling the incident a result of 'impatience, immaturity, and irresponsibility.' He asked, 'Was such a slipshod felicitation needed?' Union minister and BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje slammed Vidhana Soudha for a private team's celebration. 'The grand stairs of Vidhana Soudha have always been used for swearing-in or state functions. You used it for a private team,' she said. She went on to allege: 'Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar have blood on their hands. Now they're trying to wipe it on police officers.' She also criticised the suspension of former police commissioner B Dayananda, calling him 'a good and honest officer' who was being scapegoated. DK Shivakumar issued an apology while countering the BJP's attack. He said, 'BJP is doing politics. We are very sorry for the incident. We will work out a better solution in the future.' Meanwhile, police have filed a First Information Report against RCB. The FIR also includes DNA Entertainment, the event organiser, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), which manages the stadium. Police stated that no formal permission was given for the stadium event. On Friday, Bengaluru Police confirmed the arrest of RCB's marketing and revenue head, Nikhil Sosale.
