Amitabh Bachchan praised External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the Independence Day special of Kaun Banega Crorepati.
On the occasion of Independence Day, Kaun Banega Crorepati offered its audience a powerful gift with a special episode titled Independence Day Maha Utsav. The show brought together three fearless women officers from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force who had played crucial roles in Operation Sindoor, a mission that dealt a strong response to Pakistan.
The patriotic episode wasn't just filled with quiz questions but also with moments of respect, inspiration, and pride. One such moment came when host and megastar Amitabh Bachchan praised India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, drawing parallels between his commanding diplomatic style and that of an Army officer.
'Tough Talk, Like a Soldier"
During a round of questions that began directly from the sixth level, the contestants were shown a picture of former External Affairs Ministers Salman Khurshid and the late Sushma Swaraj. They were then asked to identify the next minister in sequence. The officers confidently answered: Dr. S. Jaishankar.
Reacting with a smile, Amitabh Bachchan admitted that he often watches Jaishankar's interviews and is deeply impressed by his manner of speaking. 'He speaks so strongly and with such authority that it feels like he could easily be in the Army," Bachchan said.
This candid remark instantly became the most talked-about moment of the episode, with viewers applauding the megastar for acknowledging Jaishankar's firm and fearless presence on the global stage. Fans on social media even hailed it as proof of India's diplomatic strength and Jaishankar's growing popularity.
Heroes of Operation Sindoor
Adding to the patriotic fervour were the three officers who graced the stage:
Colonel Sophia Qureshi (Army), known for her exemplary service during United Nations missions.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh (Air Force), celebrated for her daring spirit in the skies.
Commander Prerna Devasthali (Navy), who thrives on the challenges of the sea.
These officers were instrumental in Operation Sindoor, where they played decisive roles against Pakistan. Their entry was welcomed with a standing ovation from the audience and from Amitabh Bachchan himself, reflecting the immense pride the nation feels for its women warriors.
A Patriotic Celebration
The special episode was a blend of knowledge, inspiration, and national pride. Along with the quiz, the show featured stories of sacrifice and courage from the three officers, interspersed with patriotic songs and tributes to the tricolour.
A visibly moved Amitabh Bachchan remarked, 'It is an honour for me to share this stage with these brave daughters of India on this day."
More Than Just Entertainment
This Independence Day special of KBC was not only about questions and answers; it was about honouring the spirit of the armed forces and reminding viewers that India's daughters are second to none—whether defending borders, flying in the skies, or navigating the high seas.
It was a celebration that blended entertainment with emotion, leaving viewers inspired, proud, and deeply connected to the spirit of the nation.

MIM slams NCERT changes, role of RSS

1 2 Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday said that the BJP govt at the Centre should include the book 'Muslims Against Partition' by Shamsul Islam in the NCERT-recommended syllabi. "This lie about partition is repeated time and again. At that time, not even 2–3% of Muslims had the right to vote. Only elitists such as zamindars and jagirdars were enfranchised. Even today, they (RSS and BJP) blame us (Muslims) for the partition of the country. How were we responsible for that? Those who fled, fled. Those who were loyal, stayed," he said. Responding to media queries regarding proposed changes to the NCERT syllabus concerning the partition of the country, he stated that the RSS was never part of India's freedom struggle and did not participate in the Quit India Movement, the Salt Satyagraha, or other agitations. "Why don't they include in the NCERT syllabus that the RSS hated freedom fighters more than the British did? The RSS always sided with the British. Let them teach students all of this as well. No, they only want to spread hatred against Muslims," Owaisi alleged. He claimed the RSS never participated in the independence movement. "The RSS's Hindutva ideology has always been contrary to the Constitution. It was wrong for the PM to praise an organisation that spreads hatred in the country," he asserted. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Drug Destruction Up 132%, Seizures Up 104% In Tripura: Chief minister

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Friday said police and security agencies have been directed to take strict action against those involved in drug smuggling. "The number of drugs destroyed has increased by 132% compared to last year. The amount of drug seizures has increased by 104%. Parents should be more vigilant and aware against drugs. The way Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking the country forward, we are also trying to move forward," the Chief Minister said. "Along with boys, girls are also getting addicted to drugs. The state government is continuing its fight against this. Various security agencies, including the police, are conducting operations against drugs," he added. "Efforts are being made to catch the drug kingpin. The police and other agencies have been instructed not to let anyone associated with drugs go free. A zero-tolerance policy has been adopted in the fight against drugs. Work is being done in that way," he further stated. Dr Saha was speaking while inaugurating a voluntary blood donation camp organised by Aurobindo Sangha at AD Nagar Higher Secondary School grounds in Agartala. "We can donate clothes, money, food, education, etc, but blood donation is a donation that cannot be bought from the market for money. Blood donation brings a divine feeling. Others can also be motivated through this social activity. We are many steps ahead of other states in the country in blood donation. Out of 100 people, 15 have negative blood group. Therefore, it is important to maintain an adequate stock of negative blood," he said. Dr Saha also said that the Aurobindo Sangha has organized various activities from August 1 to August 15 on the occasion of its foundation day and Independence Day. As part of this, responding to the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it has organized the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam program. Speaking on further on the issue of drugs, the Chief Minister said everything cannot be solved in a single day, pointing out that it is not possible to undo the atmosphere created by the policies of the Communists and Congress over the last 35 years, along with another five years. "It needs a lot of time. Still, we want to build a beautiful state. India has now reached the fourth place in terms of economy, from the 11th place earlier. Tripura is also in the second-highest position among North Eastern states in terms of GSDP and per capita income," he added.
