She captures the small nuances of her character with such honesty that the performance never feels like acting. There's no overstatement, no attempt to draw attention—and that's exactly why it works. Anupam Kher, as her grandfather, delivers one of his most grounded performances in years.
His journey from resistance to recognition is portrayed with emotional precision. Jackie Shroff, though present for a short time, brings empathy to his role. Boman Irani's understated turn as Tanvi's music teacher adds warmth, while Arvind Swamy impresses as the ex-Army man running a training academy, lending credibility and calm to the narrative.'

Saiyaara worldwide box office: Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda's film enters Rs 500 crore club, just Rs 36 crore shy of beating Pathaan's record
There seems to be no stopping Saiyaara, the Mohit Suri-directed romantic musical that has catapulted debutants Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday into overnight stardom. As the film continues to soar at the box office, it crossed a significant milestone on Monday, grossing Rs 507 crore worldwide in just 18 days, making it one of the fastest entries into the Rs 500 crore club in recent memory. With this, Saiyaara has become Mohit Suri's first film to enter the Rs 500 crore club, and Ahaan and Aneet are now the first debutants in Indian cinema history to headline a film that has achieved this benchmark. Additionally, the film has officially become the highest-grossing love story in the history of Indian cinema, overtaking Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Kabir Singh, which had a lifetime collection of Rs 368 crore. According to a press release issued by Yash Raj Films, in its 18-day run, Saiyaara has grossed Rs 376 crore at the domestic box office, with an additional Rs 131 crore from overseas markets, bringing its total to Rs 507 crore. It is now the second-highest-grossing Indian film of the year, behind Chhaava, which has earned Rs 807.91 crore worldwide. Also Read | In Saiyaara's final act, Mohit Suri channels the best of Aditya Chopra's brand of romance #Saiyaara found a home in your hearts – and we couldn't be more thankful. ❤️ In cinemas now, watch it today! | #AhaanPanday | #AneetPadda | @mohit11481 | #AkshayeWidhani — Yash Raj Films (@yrf) August 5, 2025 With this, Saiyaara has also surpassed the lifetime earnings of previous YRF blockbusters such as Hrithik Roshan's War (Rs 471 crore) and Salman Khan's Tiger 3 (Rs 464 crore). It has even outperformed Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki, which earned Rs 454 crore globally. The film is just Rs 36 crore shy of crossing Pathaan's worldwide collections. The film's unexpected dominance has sent shockwaves across the industry. From its strong opening day numbers to its consistent performance over the weeks, Saiyaara has defied expectations, especially from industry insiders who initially underestimated its potential. Veteran film journalist Komal Nahta recently shared an anecdote during a chat with YouTuber Faridoon Shahryar that revealed the kind of impact Saiyaara is having within Bollywood circles. He said, 'Even an established star can become insecure because of a newcomer. They have to remember that they were also newcomers once upon a time; they shouldn't be nervous, there's enough space for everyone. I was at Bhushan Kumar's party, and one of his stars asked me about Saiyaara. I told him that it's a blockbuster. He got up and left.' Multiple factors have contributed to the film's extraordinary success. One of the key elements has been the return of a pure, intense, old-school romantic drama, a genre the current generation has been longing for. The fresh pairing of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda has strongly resonated with audiences. Notably, producer Aditya Chopra's decision to keep the lead pair away from media exposure before the film's release played a critical role in building intrigue and relatability, allowing viewers to discover them for the first time on the big screen. Reacting to the film's historic success, Yash Raj Films CEO Akshaye Widhani said in a statement, 'The success of Saiyaara, a pure love story, once again proves that the romance genre is probably the one to get most love from the audience if we give them the right film to cherish and endorse. We are humbled with this success story, and it fuels us to look for the next film that can break out and make India proud globally.'

Ekka box office verdict: Yuva Rajkumar's Kannada action drama earns Rs 10 cr, trade analyst says audience 'rejected' it
Ekka box office verdict: Yuva Rajkumar's Ekka hit the screens on July 18 and opened to a good response at the box office. According to Koimoi, an entertainment portal, it netted Rs 1.45 crore on the first day and emerged as Sandalwood's highest opener of the year. The film, however, received underwhelming reviews and this affected its performance in the long run. Ekka has now ended its run at the box office, and the final verdict is out. Ekka disappoints at the box office Ekka has completed its run at the Indian box office, and the results are not up to the mark. Manobala Vijayabalan, a trade analyst, told Indiatimes that the film earned Rs 10 crore in its full run and failed to recover its budget. He added that Ekka was 'rejected' by a vast majority of the audience after its release. 'Ekka was rejected by the majority of the audience, which led to its failure at the box office. The film was made on a budget of ₹20 cr but grossed just around ₹10 cr from theatrical release. This is the overall collection, including a tiny bit from overseas, as there was no big release there,' he said. According to Sacnilk, Ekka started on a strong note, but the collections saw a dip from the second day onwards as it earned just Rs 1.35 crore on its first Saturday (July 19). The collections further dropped over the weekdays, adding to its woes. Ekka's underwhelming tally means that it has failed to match the performance of Yuva, Yuva Rajkumar's maiden film. The actioner, which premiered in theatres in 2024, grossed Rs 19.40 crore at the box office. It was directed by Santosh Anandram and featured the debutant in the role of a wrestler. Ekka received a mixed response from critics Coming back to Ekka, it received mixed reviews. Yuva Rajkumar, Dr Rajkumar's grandson, received praise for his performance but the execution failed to impress most critics. The Times of India gave it two and a half stars out of five and said that it is a 'formulaic' but caters to the genre's fans. 'Ekka may be a formulaic take on the Bangalore underworld, but for fans of this genre, it offers just enough action, emotion, and style to make it worth a watch,' read a portion of the review. The average reviews played a role in the film's mediocre performance at the box office. About Ekka Ekka is an actioner directed by Rohit Padaki. It centres on a rural thug who enters the underworld to punish a former ally who betrayed him. It stars Yuva Rajumar and Sanjana Anand in the lead roles.
