STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Marco Reus scored in the 70th minute and the LA Galaxy played the San Jose Earthquakes to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night in the 104th edition of the California Clásico.
LA (1-14-5) is unbeaten in its last eight road matches (Stanford Stadium & PayPal Park) across all competitions against San Jose (7-8-5) dating to June 26, 2021.
San Jose native Beau Leroux opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a shot into the upper-right corner for his fourth of the season. He settled Mark-Anthony Kaye's cross with his left foot and curled in a shot with his right from the top of the 18-yard box.
San Jose goalkeeper Daniel stopped an initial attempt in the 70th, but it bounced right back to Reus for an easy touch home. It was Reus' first game wearing the captain's armband.
Daniel made several key saves. He came out of his area to deny Joseph Paintsil on a one-on-one opportunity in the 60th. He algo got a hand on Gabriel Pec's shot on a counterattack in the 88th.
The Galaxy entered with just three of a possible 33 points on the road this season.
San Jose announced the club sold 40,000 tickets for the game at Stanford Stadium.

Bobby Marks proposes trade that would give Lakers a promising center
According to at least one report, the Los Angeles Lakers have apparently already begun their quest to plug their massive hole at the center position. A beat writer for the Utah Jazz said recently that he thinks the Lakers have made a trade offer for Walker Kessler, an up-and-coming center who plays for the Jazz. There have been a couple other centers linked to the Lakers as far as players they could attempt to trade for. But ESPN analyst Bobby Marks suggested a different way they could address their need for a center — trade not for someone already in the NBA and established, but for a top college prospect. Advertisement In a recent article, he proposed a three-team deal in which Los Angeles would send out Dalton Knecht to the Portland Trail Blazers and an unprotected 2031 first-round draft pick to the Brooklyn Nets for the No. 8 pick and No. 36 pick this year. It would then select Khaman Maluach at No. 8. "It should be noted that this trade is contingent on whether Duke's Khaman Maluach is on the board when Brooklyn is picking," Marks wrote. "If he is, then the Lakers have their starting center for the future, but at the cost of last year's first-round pick, Knecht, and an unprotected first in 2031. It is the same package the Lakers sent to Charlotte in the failed Mark Williams trade last February, except the 2031 first-round swap is not included. "... In Maluach, the Lakers get a lob partner for Luka Doncic, a rim protector and the paint presence they lacked in the first-round loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves." While some feel Maluach will be a lottery pick, others expect him to go later in the first round. At 7-feet-1 and 253 pounds, he's an excellent rim protector who can also effectively guard on the perimeter, particularly in pick-and-roll sets. He's a strong finisher near the rim who will either throw down a dunk or score on layups, and he has a fairly strong motor that helps him, among other things, attack the offensive glass. The South Sudan native averaged 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 21.3 minutes a game this season as a freshman for Duke University. Luka Doncic Shares Strong Message To New Lakers Owner After Jeanie Buss Sold Franchise For $10 Billion
Luka Doncic Shares Strong Message To New Lakers Owner After Jeanie Buss Sold Franchise For $10 Billion originally appeared on Fadeaway World. In a monumental shift that ends one of the most iconic ownership eras in sports history, Jeanie Buss has agreed to sell her majority stake in the Los Angeles Lakers for a record-breaking $10 billion evaluation to billionaire Mark Walter, CEO of TWG Global and part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Advertisement While the move came as a shock to many, Lakers superstar Luka Doncic has fully embraced the change and sent a powerful message to the team's incoming owner. "The Lakers are an amazing organization. I'm looking forward to meeting Mark and excited about the future. I am also grateful to Jeanie and the Buss family for welcoming me to LA, and I'm happy that Jeanie will continue to be involved. I look forward to working with both of them to win championships!" Luka's statement echoes the optimism within the Lakers organization. Despite a disappointing first-round playoff exit this past season, the combination of Luka Doncic and LeBron James has given Los Angeles a dynamic duo with generational talent. Now, with billionaire backing, they're positioned to pursue titles aggressively, both through trades and financial investment in infrastructure. Advertisement Mark Walter, who previously purchased Phil Anschutz's 26% minority stake in 2021, had first right of refusal if the Buss family ever decided to sell. That clause is now in motion. While Jeanie will remain the team governor and keep a 15% stake to retain league governance rights, the majority of the ownership now shifts into Walter's hands. Magic Johnson, who has deep ties with both the Lakers and Walter through their shared connection with the Dodgers, was ecstatic. He praised Walter as a relentless winner who 'will put in the resources needed to win' and compared him favorably to Dr. Jerry Buss for his passion, business savvy, and behind-the-scenes leadership style. From Luka's side, the message is clear, he's not only supportive of the change, but energized by it. Doncic was already seen as the centerpiece of the Lakers' future, and with the team's new financial firepower, fans can expect Los Angeles to be a top-tier destination for free agents and disgruntled stars alike. As ESPN's Dave McMenamin noted, the financial flexibility of TWG Global doesn't override the NBA's new CBA and its second-apron penalties. Advertisement However, Walter can pour resources into other essential areas: scouting, analytics, player health, and player development. In an era where marginal advantages separate contenders from pretenders, that might be what gives the Lakers an edge. Doncic's vocal endorsement, combined with LeBron James' reported excitement about the change, suggests a unified front. Despite the end of the Buss family's majority ownership, dating back to Dr. Buss' $67.5 million purchase in 1979, the Lakers seem ready to enter a new golden age. With Doncic at the helm and Walter's billions behind him, Los Angeles isn't just changing hands, they're gearing up for another dynasty.
