Goa CM Pramod Sawant holds Janta Darbar in Sankhali
Panaji (Goa) [India], May 11 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday held Janta Darbar at Ravindra Bhavan in Sankhali, and listened to the grievances of the people.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Goa Raj Bhavan organised a 'Sarva Dharma Sadasu' (All-Religious Gathering) to collectively condemn the 'unethical and unwarranted actions' of Pakistan against India.
The event was held at the historic Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, Goa.
The solemn assembly was convened to express unwavering support for the Indian Armed Forces and the Union Government's steadfast efforts in defending the nation's sovereignty and integrity. The Governor of Goa, PS Sreedharan Pillai, and the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr Pramod Sawant, graced the occasion and addressed the gathering.
In his address, the Governor emphasised the importance of unity and the timeless power of truth.
'Dharma is truth, and truth will always prevail. Ultimately, evil will fail,' he stated, urging all citizens to stand united for the nation.
Each speaker expressed heartfelt prayers and messages of support for the soldiers and the central leadership working tirelessly to safeguard India.
The 'Sarva Dharma Sadasu' served as a significant symbol of national unity and spiritual resilience, showcasing that irrespective of religious background, the people of India stand together in the face of external aggression.
On Saturday, India and Pakistan worked out an understanding of the stoppage of firing and military action .India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in reply to the ghastly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. The terror attack had killed 26 people.
India had struck nine terror sites in Pakistan and PoK. Pakistan sought to up the ante with a series of unprovoked escalations using artillery guns and drones. (ANI)

'This is not just a new railway service but also symbolic of how far the region's railway network has progressed over the last 11 years,' said Railway spokesperson Dilip Kumar. 'We are witnessing history in the making. This railway line is a marvel, and advanced technology has been used to ensure all-weather connectivity,' he added. The inauguration comes weeks after the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. Since then, tourism in Kashmir has seen a massive decline. The rail link is being seen as a step towards restoring normalcy and inviting tourists to revisit the Valley. 'Earlier, there would be no space to walk at Dal Lake because of the massive tourist footfall. Now, we hardly see a few. Hope this railway line will restore normalcy,' said a shawl seller in Srinagar. By road, the journey used to take around 6-7 hours. For the first time, two Vande Bharat trains will run consecutively—one from Katra and the other from Srinagar—both flagged off by the prime minister. The prime minister also inaugurated two major engineering landmarks. One is the Chenab Rail Bridge, the world's highest railway arch bridge, standing 359 metres above the riverbed, 35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower. It spans 1,315 metres and is part of the USBRL. It is engineered to withstand seismic and wind conditions. Located about 80 km from Jammu, it spans the Anji River and has been constructed by Hindustan Construction Company. The USBRL will cross a stretch of 271 km that includes 36 tunnels and 943 bridges. It has been built at a cost of Rs 43,780 crore. Before the final launch, several trial runs were conducted. In the last run, army and security personnel boarded the train as it passed over the Chenab Bridge to assess wind resistance and safety protocols. According to officials, the bridge is designed to withstand wind speeds of up to 260 km/h. NEET PG 2025 exam date postponed to August 3, to be held in a single shift
NEET PG 2025 exam date: The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduate courses (NEET PG) 2025 has been postponed and will now be held on August 3, 2025, following an extension granted by the Supreme Court to the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The Supreme Court has also mandated that the exam be conducted in a single shift to ensure fairness and transparency. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced the postponement on May 27, 2025, after receiving the court's directive, as quoted by ANI. The postponement allows the authorities to expand test centres and upgrade infrastructure to meet the court's standards. Supreme court's directive on single-shift examination A bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Augustine George Masih emphasised that the exam must be held in one shift, as reported by ANI. Earlier, a vacation bench consisting of Justices Vikram Nath, Sanjay Kumar, and NK Anjaria had rejected NBE's two-shift plan, describing it as 'arbitrariness' and saying that 'the question papers in the two shifts can never be of the same difficulty level,' according to ANI. The court stressed the importance of providing a level playing field for all candidates and ordered the respondents to 'make necessary arrangements for holding the NEET-PG 2025 examination in one shift, duly ensuring that complete transparency is maintained and secure centres are identified and commissioned,' as quoted by ANI. Challenges raised by NBE and court's response The counsel for NBE informed the court that holding the exam in a single shift would require around 900 additional centres, which could not be arranged before the June 15 date. Despite these arguments, the Supreme Court expressed disbelief that sufficient centres could not be found in a technologically advanced country like India. The court remarked, 'We are not ready to accept that in entire country and considering the technological advancements in this country the examining body could not find enough centres to hold the examination in one shift,' as quoted by ANI. NBEMS's steps to ensure fairness and security Following the Supreme Court's order, NBEMS postponed the exam to allow for necessary preparations. The board stated, 'NEET-PG 2025, scheduled to be held on 15.06.2025, has been postponed to arrange for more test centres and required infrastructure,' as reported by ANI. NBEMS also confirmed that the exam will now be conducted in a single shift, with the revised date notified in due course. This postponement aims to uphold the integrity of the exam, which is a vital gateway for admission to postgraduate medical courses across India. Conducting the test in one shift is expected to reduce discrepancies in question paper difficulty and provide a more transparent and equitable evaluation for all candidates. The Supreme Court has set a firm deadline for the NEET PG exam to be conducted in a single shift by August 3, 2025, with no further extensions.
