Before Vic Fangio transformed the Philadelphia Eagles into an absolute force in 2024, turning the team into a defensive juggernaut capable of winning the Super Bowl, he spent a season with the Miami Dolphins that didn't quite go as well as anyone had hoped.

Now granted, the Dolphins' defense wasn't terrible, as they finished out the year ranked 10th in yards allowed, 15th in passing yards allowed, and seventh in rushing yards allowed, but they gave up 391 points on the season, which ranked 22nd league-wide, and played a major role in the team's embarassing playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
And yet, the biggest issue wasn't on the field but instead in the locker room, as the players in Miami didn't get along with Fangio, leading to his ultimate firing and return to Philadelphia as a full-time defensive coordinator after spending some time as a consultant during the Eagles' previous Super Bowl run.
Discussing what he's experienced in Philadelphia and how it compares to what he's heard from Miami, Eagles safety Reed Blankenship noted on 94 WIP that while the Dolphins may not have liked Fangio's old-school coaching, the Eagles adapted to it incredibly well.
'Whatever was said in Miami, that's their locker room. Our locker room is completely different, I believe in my opinion. We've got guys that liked to be coached and like to be held accountable, and obviously that shows on the field. We're a young group, but we understand if we want to win the big things we've got to be coached hard.'

Ever since Nick Sirianni was hired to replace Doug Pederson, the Eagles have been playing some version of Fangio's defense, with Jonathan Gannon borrowing from the former Denver Broncos system, as did Sean Desi upon his departure. Fortunately, even though he's been coaching football as long as Nick Sirianni has been alive, Fangio has remained as advertised, forging a defensive scheme that was tied with Philadelphia's rushing offense as the strength of the team. With Blankenship and company locked in, it's safe to say the Dolphins' loss is as the Eagles gain, as they've now secured their second Super Bowl victory in the last decade.

The Washington Commanders have already made a point that they are targeting proven offensive talent to build around breakout star Jayden Daniels to get as close as possible to a "win-now" window. Advertisement Acquiring All-Pros in left tackle Laremy Tunsil and receiver Deebo Samuel sures up gaps in crucial positions, but there remains one question mark that could make Washington's offense one of the best in the league: a tight end. Zach Ertz is a solid contributor, but he is going to turn 35 this season and may not be looked at as a long-term answer within the offense. Writer James Dudko of believes the Commanders should pursue a trade with the Baltimore Ravens to land a star tight end in Mark Andrews. Andrews, a former 1st Team All-Pro selection, could pair with Samuel and Terry McLaurin to create a lethal pass game that Daniels could easily thrive in. Andrews ranks as a top-5 tight end in the NFL when healthy and has proven that he is capable of being a security blanket within a group loaded with talent. Samuel's dual-threat capabilities are as versatile as they come and Daniels' extraordinary rushing ability can get him out of trouble with ease. This all could allow Andrews to find space in intermediate routes through the middle of the field and fortify a diverse offense for coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. Andrews may just now be hitting the peak of his career at 29 years old, so with Baltimore's decision looming between choosing him or Likely this offseason, they could decide to get ahead of things and deal the veteran to Washington for draft compensation. Last year, Andrews caught a career-best 11 touchdowns, while also converting 39 of his 55 grabs into first downs, according to Pro Football Reference. Those numbers are a young quarterbacks best friend and allow for a fit in any offense, let alone one as dynamic as the Commanders' already is. ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) – A year after Bald Eagle Area won back-to-back PIAA championships for baseball, the Eagles softball team will play for the Class 3A title. Bald Eagle Area wins back-to-back PIAA Baseball Championship Fueled by Sierra Albright's 12 strikeouts, Bald Eagle Area defeated Susquenita 5-0 on Monday. The Eagles will face Pine Grove Area on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Nittany Lion Softball Park. In Class 2A baseball, Mount Union lost 2-0 to Faith Christian in the semifinals. Claysburg-Kimmel softball, the other remaining team in WTAJ's coverage area, will take on Northeast Bradford in the Class 1A semifinals on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Lycoming Elementary School.
