Jalen Hurts' Training Camp Sparks Concern From Philly Host
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A little over five months ago, Jalen Hurts was named the Super Bowl LIX MVP after the Philadelphia Eagles took down the Kansas City Chiefs. At this point, the veteran quarterback has barely cracked the Top 10 of several major quarterback lists and has local radio hosts raising red flags about his performances in training camp thus far. To say that Hurts has bulletin board material for next year would be an understatement. "Jalen Hurts is not having a great training camp," 94WIP's Joe Giglio said on Thursday. "It's pretty clear from anyone. Number one, it's fair from my eyes. I haven't seen him have a great training camp. We only see so much. Then I look at what all the beat writers are saying, they're out there every day." via @SportsRadioWIP: Joe Giglio is concerned about Jalen Hurts' rocky start to training camp Joe Giglio is concerned about Jalen Hurts' rocky start to training camp 😳 — SPORTSRADIO 94WIP (@SportsRadioWIP) August 14, 2025 These days, it's common for quarterbacks to be graded out on a daily basis based on what reporters and analysts see during training camp sessions. 94WIP beat writer Eliot Shorr-Parks' grading results for Hurts have suggested the quarterback has been average, at best. When Giglio fired off the round of grades Hurts received from his station's field reporter on Thursday, he felt more concerned than anything. "Let me give you the grades that Eliot has given Jalen Hurts for the first two weeks of training camp," he states. "B, A, C, C-minus, B-minus, D-plus, C-plus, B-minus, A, B-plus, B, B-minus, A, C-minus. There are more Cs and Ds then there are As. If you average it out, it's like a C. It's been average so far this training camp." Jalen Hurts #1 of the Philadelphia Eagles reacts after defeating the Baltimore Ravens 24-19 at M&T Bank Stadium on December 01, 2024 in Baltimore, this stage of Hurts' career, he's going to be the No. 1 option at quarterback regardless of how he performs in training camp. These reps won't sway the coaching staff to make any critical decisions. If Hurts was playing lights out in training camp, it probably wouldn't garner a ton of fanfare as it's just training camp. The same argument could be used in favor of Hurts' supposed "average" performance in practice. All that matters is what gets put on display on the game field. The last time Hurts played, he put together an MVP-caliber performance on the game's biggest stage to deliver the Eagles their second Super Bowl win in franchise history. As long as Hurts is getting the reps and staying healthy, the Eagles should feel pretty optimistic heading into Week 1. For more Philadelphia Eagles and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Eagles' Reed Blankenship weighs in on Vic Fangio-Dolphins drama
The post Eagles' Reed Blankenship weighs in on Vic Fangio-Dolphins drama appeared first on ClutchPoints. Before Vic Fangio transformed the Philadelphia Eagles into an absolute force in 2024, turning the team into a defensive juggernaut capable of winning the Super Bowl, he spent a season with the Miami Dolphins that didn't quite go as well as anyone had hoped. Advertisement Now granted, the Dolphins' defense wasn't terrible, as they finished out the year ranked 10th in yards allowed, 15th in passing yards allowed, and seventh in rushing yards allowed, but they gave up 391 points on the season, which ranked 22nd league-wide, and played a major role in the team's embarassing playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. And yet, the biggest issue wasn't on the field but instead in the locker room, as the players in Miami didn't get along with Fangio, leading to his ultimate firing and return to Philadelphia as a full-time defensive coordinator after spending some time as a consultant during the Eagles' previous Super Bowl run. Discussing what he's experienced in Philadelphia and how it compares to what he's heard from Miami, Eagles safety Reed Blankenship noted on 94 WIP that while the Dolphins may not have liked Fangio's old-school coaching, the Eagles adapted to it incredibly well. 'Whatever was said in Miami, that's their locker room. Our locker room is completely different, I believe in my opinion. We've got guys that liked to be coached and like to be held accountable, and obviously that shows on the field. We're a young group, but we understand if we want to win the big things we've got to be coached hard.' Advertisement Ever since Nick Sirianni was hired to replace Doug Pederson, the Eagles have been playing some version of Fangio's defense, with Jonathan Gannon borrowing from the former Denver Broncos system, as did Sean Desi upon his departure. Fortunately, even though he's been coaching football as long as Nick Sirianni has been alive, Fangio has remained as advertised, forging a defensive scheme that was tied with Philadelphia's rushing offense as the strength of the team. With Blankenship and company locked in, it's safe to say the Dolphins' loss is as the Eagles gain, as they've now secured their second Super Bowl victory in the last decade. Philadelphia radio applauds an underappreciated aspect of Saquon Barkley's reverse hurdle
Philadelphia radio applauds an underappreciated aspect of Saquon Barkley's reverse hurdle Philadelphia sports radio hosts on 94 WIP seized the chance to commend Saquon Barkley for a facet of his reverse hurdle that frequently goes unrecognized. Believe it or not, June 3rd is seven months to the day that the Philadelphia Eagles hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars and Saquon Barkley proved once and for all that he was a human cheat code. Had we not seen it, most of us wouldn't have believed it. How on Planet Earth does a man leap over another grown man backwards? Barkley, except for a few quarters here and there, seemingly broke long game-altering runs at will. We've seen another scouting combine, Pro Days, Top 30 Visits, and ten prospects added to the nest by way of the NFL Draft. OTAs are now underway. Guess what one of the most popular topics of discussion is. If you answered by stating 'Saquon's reverse hurdle', give yourself a gold star. Just when you thought it was impossible to manufacture more words to encapsulate its brilliance, we're given a few. 94 WIP-FM's Morning Show praises one of the lesser-mentioned components of Saquon Barkley's hurdle. Philadelphia sports fans, at times, enjoy a love-hate affair with 94 WIP-FM and its hosts. Some prefer certain shows over others. Some listen all day. Others don't listen at all, but everyone will have an opinion if time is dedicated to asking them. Former Eagle John Ritchie and long-time radio host Joe DeCamara took over the station's Morning Show in February 2023 after Angelo Cataldi retired. They've made everyone laugh. They've made everyone angry (more so Joe than John), but recently, a recent take was good enough to make listeners stand up and cheer. As mentioned, Saquon's November reverse hurdle is front and center again. This comes after Barkley was named EA Sports' cover athlete for the Madden 26 game. Two covers will be offered for two different editions. One depicts Saquon's now-signature play. Ritchie and DeCamara recently offered some praise and applauded Barkley for something that typically gets overlooked. He took a shot at the end of the play, one that forced him out of action for a spell. It's so easy to marvel at the athleticism displayed and overlook the physically demanding portion, or Saquon's toughness. Credit the WIP Morning Show for noticing. Oh, and by the way, those who are worried about the 'Madden Curse' shouldn't be. Barkley has no worries. That's good enough for us.

James Bradberry tore his Achilles, Soleus but expects to be ready for OTAs
Eagles defensive back James Bradberry missed all of the 2024 season with a 'lower-leg injury' in training camp. Despite spending the season on injured reserve, Bradberry will receive a Super Bowl ring. 'I'm going to get a ring, and I can always say I'm a Super Bowl champion, so I'm a part of it,' Bradberry said Thursday, via video from Eliot Shorrr-Parks of 94WIP. Bradberry revealed to Brooks Kubena of that he tore his Achilles and his Soleus, but Bradberry expects to be ready to return during organized team activities. Bradberry said he wants to play cornerback after trying safety with the Eagles drafting Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean with their first two picks. That might not be with the Eagles. He is under contract for 2025 but has no guaranteed money remaining and a cap hit of $7.819 million. Bradberry, a second-round pick in 2016, spent four seasons with the Panthers and two seasons with the Giants before signing with the Eagles in 2022. He earned All-Pro honors at corner in 2022, and the Eagles signed him to a three-year, $38 million deal in March 2023. His dropoff in 2023 was a reason the Eagles spent their first two picks on corners in 2024.

WATCH: Myles Garrett wants no part of Philly radio host calling him a future Eagle
The Super Bowl is front and center, and Myles Garrett has stolen some of the luster from the big game with the news that the Browns All-World pass rusher has requested a trade out of Cleveland. Myles Garrett has requested a trade. His statement: — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) February 3, 2025 Browns general manager Andrew Berry said last week, 'You can put that on the record,' that he wasn't interested in trading Garrett, even for two first-round picks. Berry indicated the franchise wanted to sign Garrett to an extension. Cleveland has been made aware of Myles Garrett's trade request. The team's stance has not changed. Teams, of course, will call on a superstar in his prime. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 3, 2025 Garrett's five-year, $125 million contract extension with the Browns has two years remaining. However, the deal does not include guaranteed money and has five void years. Garrett, 29, is the reigning AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year and is coming off his seventh straight double-digit sack season, including four straight with 14 or more. He has earned five straight Pro Bowl bids, has four career first-team All-Pro honors, and is regarded as the top defensive player in football. On Wednesday, while walking radio row at the Super Bowl, Garrett looked prepared to say hello to Ike Reese, Jack Fritz, and Spike Eskins at the 94 WIP table. However, the All-Pro pass rusher was met with a 'future Eagle' shout-out, so Garrett quickly turned and walked the other way. Here is us greeting future Eagle Myles Garrett. — 94WIP Afternoons (@AfternoonsWIP) February 5, 2025 Philadelphia GM Howie Roseman always does his due diligence on players. Garrett would take some of the sting off the Bryce Huff signing, which did not produce elite production in his first season with the Eagles. With Josh Sweat headed for free agency and Brandon Graham likely to retire, a Garrett and Nolan Smith tandem on the edge would give opposing offenses nightmares in 2025 and 2026.
