‘Spring Breakers 2' Set With New Cast: Bella Thorne, ‘Stranger Things' Star Grace Van Dien and More (EXCLUSIVE)
'Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain' comes from the producers of the 2012 original but with an all new cast — including Bella Thorne. Replacing Korine in the director's chair will be Matthew Bright ('Freeway').

Capture — the recently-launched joint venture between Capstone Global and Signature Entertainment — is launching sales in Cannes.
Alongside Thorne, 'Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain' will star Ariel Martin ('Zombies 2'), Grace Van Dien ('Stranger Things') and True Whitaker ('Godfather of Harlem'). The four are set to play a group rebellious girls who hit the road for spring break in a crime thriller described as 'a bold new ride for Gen Z.' But, as per the synopsis, 'When their trip explodes out of control, they're forced to outrun the chaos they've created.'
Producers of the original feature Muse Production's Chris Hanley ('American Psycho,' 'The Virgin Suicides') and Jordan Gertner ('Bully') have reteamed for the sequel. Capstone Studios serves as financiers, with global sales being handled by Capture's Ella Field, Asia Muci, Emilie Barra and Nathan Wang.
'We're thrilled to be working with Christian and Capture on Spring Breakers – Salvation Mountain and excited to keep exploring bold, new, disruptive stories around that wild, fever-dream of youth,' said Chris Hanley and Jordan Gertner. 'The desire for Spring Break to go on forever is something we've never let go of.'
Korine's 'Spring Breakers' went on to gross over $30 million at the global box office from a $5 million budget and solidified itself as a cult hit. A sequel involving Christian extremists — 'Spring Breakers: The Second Coming' — was first announced in 2014 with Jonas Åkerlund attached and Irvine Welsh writing. By 2017, the project had been shelved in favor of digital series which never materialized.

Netflix Could Lose ‘Stranger Things' Creators After Season 5 To Paramount+
The world of streaming can be competitive to the point of being cutthroat, and there's a development brewing between Netflix and Paramount that may not go well for the former. Variety reports that Stranger Things creators/showrunners the Duffer Brothers are in 'advanced negotiations' to make movies and shows for Paramount. An existing connection there is that Cindy Holland, Paramount's new streaming head, was the exec who originally greenlit Stranger Things at Netflix, and the rest is history. It wouldn't just be an instant departure. Despite working hard on finishing Stranger Things , the Duffer Brothers have two new series coming in 2026, The Boroughs and Something Very Bad is Going To Happen. There's also an animated Stranger Things feature coming. Rumors of Stranger Things spin-offs have been circulating for a while, and one of those still seems to be in place. But long-term, losing the architects of one of Netflix's most popular series of all time would be less than ideal for them, and it would be a big boon for Paramount+, a service anchored on legacy series and piles of new shows from Yellowstone's Taylor Sheridan like Tulsa King and Landman . Stranger Things will end with season 5 this year with a somewhat ridiculous airing schedule of four episodes airing on November 26, three episode on Christmas Day and the last episode on New Year's Day, as somehow Netflix remains allergic to a true week-to-week offering, opting for these odd breaks instead (currently, Wednesday season 2 is on hiatus until its second half airs in September). We have seen plenty of departures like this before. A recent high profile one was Mike Flanagan, who made such Netflix classics like The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass . Now he's over at Amazon doing Carrie and The Dark Tower series. Netflix is clearly looking for its next Stranger Things -sized hit. That show and Squid Game end this year, though fortunately it does have Wednesday to run for the foreseeable future. It does, however, remain the clear, unequivocal powerhouse in the streaming industry. A recent report said Netflix earns more than all its major streaming rivals combined, and its revenue is surging. Even with big shows ending, it keeps producing consistent hits and retaining subscribers. Paramount+, however, has been on the up after adding a number of well-watched series and distancing itself from a service it was once compared to, Peacock, which is losing boatloads of money. Based on the way it promotes its biggest shows, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Netflix is really only home to a handful of shows worth watching. Crashing (2016) Before Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jonathan Bailey were major stars, the two of them co-starred on Crashing together. Crashing is like Friends, if they were more aware of the economic realities of life in a big city. It follows six roommates who find themselves living together in part because of limited other options, each of whom ultimately comes to realize that they need to take more responsibility for their futures now that they are no longer in school. Crashing is anchored by the chemistry of the cast, which obviously included a couple of big-name talents. You can watch Crashing on Netflix. Legends of Tomorrow (2016-2022) During the height of the Snyderverse, Legends of Tomorrow was a reminder that there were many different ways to tell DC stories. Although this show starts out fairly self-serious, it quickly morphs into something much lighter on its feet. Because they travel through space and time, this band of heroes and villains are often finding themselves in fairly ludicrous situations, and that's part of the fun. Ultimately, though, Legends of Tomorrow works because the central characters feel like a family, and the show understands the chemistry they have. You can watch Legends of Tomorrow on Netflix. American Vandal (2017-2018) One of the silliest shows in the history of Netflix, American Vandal is a brilliant dissection of true crime documentaries that still holds up almost a decade later. The show is a mockumentary set first in a high school and follows students who become obsessed with investigating who defaced a teacher's car with a drawing of genitalia. The hilarious American Vandal transforms into a surprisingly profound examination into the way certain students can be dismissed by everyone.
