Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton has opened up on the advice he would give Max Verstappen about his former team, Mercedes, considering the rumors about Verstappen's ongoing talks with the Brackley-based outfit.
The speculation erupted after George Russell revealed that discussions on his Mercedes contract extension were delayed due to ongoing talks between Mercedes and the four-time world champion. Notably, Russell's Mercedes contract is set to expire at the end of this year.
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff acknowledged the interest in having Verstappen on board his team but revealed a very low probability of a move happening next year. Wolff emphasized that Russell and Kimi Antonelli would continue racing for Mercedes in 2026, but he didn't hesitate to admit that Verstappen would remain on his radar for the long-term future.

Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and Ferrari speaks with Max Verstappen of Netherlands and Oracle Red Bull Racing in Parc ferme during the Sprint/qualifying ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of China at Shanghai International Circuit on March 22, 2025 in Shanghai, China. MoreWith Russell yet to sign an extension, speculation about Verstappen's potential Mercedes switch continues to swirl. As F1 heads to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix this weekend, Hamilton was asked if he would recommend Verstappen to join Mercedes if he were asked for his opinion. The 40-year-old driver gave a positive reply and remarked that he would be interested to see what unfolds in the future. He said:
"Of course. If someone, anyone, was going to ask me about Mercedes, it's an amazing team also with the passion, they've got great personnel, it's a great factory, great environment to work in.
"I'll be interested to see what happens."
Hamilton didn't hold himself back from praising Red Bull, and explained how he had misunderstood the team many years ago when he was a staunch Mercedes fan. He added:
"I mean, he's coming from a great team and I think many, many years ago I was asked [about Red Bull], I think I was just so diehard Mercedes at the time, and I remember saying something about Red Bull being only a drinks company.
"I always regretted it because I was just saying that because Mercedes at the time was just great. I was really just trying to gee up my team, but the truth is Red Bull have been an incredible team.
"There's so many people there that are exceptional and they've dominated for years."
Speaking on his home race this weekend, Hamilton admitted he was looking forward to the Silverstone magic with hopes of securing his first podium finish of the season. He said:
"I'm hoping and praying, yes. There's always magic here in Silverstone, so I don't really have to hope for that in the sense that the crowd is incredible.
"It's a very, very, very special place. And it always provides a special race, one way or the other. But I'm hoping that whether all sorts of things can help us, because we're obviously naturally not as strong as we used to be."

Keanu Reeves To Star In Cadillac F1 Docuseries Ahead Of 2026 Debut
Keanu Reeves is back in the fast lane. The Hollywood legend and quietly obsessive motorsport fan is set to narrate and executive produce a brand-new documentary series charting the rise of Cadillac's all-new Formula 1 team - a project that might just be the biggest shake-up to hit F1's paddock since Drive to Survive made Netflix shareholders very alongside Brawn collaborators Neil Duncanson and Simon Hammerson, the yet-unnamed docuseries will follow Cadillac and Andretti Global's rollercoaster bid to enter Formula 1, from their original 2022 application (rejected), to finally securing a grid slot for 2026 (approved, just barely). It will be filmed under Reeves' KR+SH production company and North One Television."I'm very honored and excited to be a part of telling the remarkable Cadillac Formula 1 Team story," Reeves said. "Our goal is to bring audiences into the heart of this journey and showcase what it takes to participate in one of the most exclusive sports arenas in the world." From Silverstone To Indy - The Team Behind The Team Unlike most F1 newcomers, Cadillac's team is being built entirely from scratch. No buyouts, no rebranding, no leased chassis. It's a clean-sheet operation with big ambitions, split between Andretti's U.S. base in Fishers, Indiana, and a UK outfit operating out of Silverstone - right in the heart of motorsport the two, they're hiring 600 people before lights out in Melbourne, with around 400 already on board. Engineers, logistics leads, aerodynamicists - the lot. And since GM won't have its Cadillac power unit ready until 2028 or 2029, the team will enter F1 in 2026 with Ferrari-supplied Cadillac insists it'll be an American effort with international scope. A moonshot project, in every sense - which is exactly why it should make for compelling television. Star Power Meets Serious Stakes The documentary is being positioned as more than just another Drive to Survive spinoff. Where Brawn focused on a miraculous underdog season, this project will showcase the blood, sweat, spreadsheets, and budget caps behind building an F1 team from nothing - with cameras embedded in both U.S. and UK also perfectly timed. Formula 1 has exploded in the U.S. in recent years, and a homegrown team led by a heritage luxury brand like Cadillac could be the final marketing domino Liberty Media's been waiting for. Add Keanu Reeves - already proven in motorsport storytelling - and you've got a headline act with genuine fan series is expected to land before the team's 2026 debut, with speculation it could stream on Disney+, Netflix, or Amazon Prime, depending on distribution deals. Still A Team Without A Face As of July 2025, no livery or drivers have been revealed. Cadillac has confirmed key hires are in place, and driver talks are ongoing. Rumours swirl around the usual suspects - Colton Herta, Valtteri Bottas, Sergio Pérez - but nothing has been documentary may well break that news itself, with producers hinting at exclusive behind-the-scenes access. Expect at least one reveal episode before testing begins in early 2026. Why It Matters In a landscape where new F1 teams are rare, and even rarer when they're American, Cadillac's entry is both bold and politically fraught. The docuseries won't just show a brand entering a sport - it'll show how difficult it is to be allowed to enter at all, especially when existing teams are reluctant to split the prize the drama Liberty Media loves. It's the spectacle fans crave. And with Keanu narrating it all in that serene, slightly whispery cadence? You might just believe the impossible is possible. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. Islanders' Calle Odelius excited at reuniting with Victor Eklund
The last time Victor Eklund and Calle Odelius were on the ice wearing the same uniform was two years ago with the under-20 team for Djugardens, the Stockholm-based club that Eklund helped get promoted to Sweden's top division last season. At the time, Odelius was in his first season after being drafted by the Islanders in the 2022 second round. Eklund was a 16-year-old, hoping to rise through the ranks. Now, Odelius is heading into his second full season stateside after coming over and playing with Bridgeport last year. Eklund is on Long Island for the week at development camp after getting picked 16th in last week's draft, and he is getting advice from his close friend on everything from how to navigate the Islanders' organization to the local golf offerings. 'Super fun. I'm super proud of him,' Odelius told The Post. 'He's a good friend of mine, and we played together in Djugardens and built some chemistry there. So hopefully, we can keep building that chemistry here on the Islanders.'

Update on top Clemson target, 5-star EDGE recruit Bryce Perry-Wright commitment decision
A big decision from a prized five-star recruit in the 2026 recruiting class has the Clemson Tigers and other schools playing the waiting game. Five-star EDGE Bryce Perry-Wright is set to announce his commitment Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. A 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive lineman out of Buford High School in Georgia, Perry-Wright has long been viewed as a favorite to sign with Clemson. But a late push from Texas A&M and second-year coach Mike Elko this week has added some last-minute drama and could throw a wrench into the Tigers' hopes. On Wednesday, On3/Rivals recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction that the Peach State star would sign with Texas A&M. On Friday, though, Rivals' Texas-based recruiting analyst Cody Carpentier gave a different projection. In his updated "FUTURECAST" outlook, Carpentier has Perry-Wright committing to Clemson. The Texas Longhorns and Clemson's ACC rival Miami Hurricanes are also in the mix for Perry-Wright, who ranks as the No. 32 overall recruit in 247Sports' 2026 recruiting class rankings. He is the nation's No. 2 defensive lineman in 247Sports' rankings, while On3 ranks him the No. 5 lineman and No. 33 overall recruit. Perry-Wright is the No. 5 overall player in the state of Georgia, per 247Sports, which gave him a crystal ball projection to commit to Clemson back on May 29 before Texas A&M began making its push. Perry-Wright's commitment ceremony will be streamed live on CBS Sports HQ and YouTube Saturday. Clemson football recruiting 2026 Clemson added five recruits to its 2026 class in the month of June: four-star defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil (Clayton, North Carolina), four-star EDGE Dre Quinn (Buford, Georgia), three-star defensive lineman JR Hardrick (South Pittsburg, Tennessee), and four-star offensive linemen Leo Delaney and Carter Scruggs. On3 and 247Sports both rank Clemson's 2026 recruiting class in the top 10, at No. 9 and 10, respectively. At last update, ESPN ranked the Tigers with the nation's No. 6 overall class with 11 ESPN 300 recruits.
