Update on top Clemson target, 5-star EDGE recruit Bryce Perry-Wright commitment decision
Five-star EDGE Bryce Perry-Wright is set to announce his commitment Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. A 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive lineman out of Buford High School in Georgia, Perry-Wright has long been viewed as a favorite to sign with Clemson.
But a late push from Texas A&M and second-year coach Mike Elko this week has added some last-minute drama and could throw a wrench into the Tigers' hopes.
On Wednesday, On3/Rivals recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction that the Peach State star would sign with Texas A&M.
On Friday, though, Rivals' Texas-based recruiting analyst Cody Carpentier gave a different projection. In his updated "FUTURECAST" outlook, Carpentier has Perry-Wright committing to Clemson.
The Texas Longhorns and Clemson's ACC rival Miami Hurricanes are also in the mix for Perry-Wright, who ranks as the No. 32 overall recruit in 247Sports' 2026 recruiting class rankings. He is the nation's No. 2 defensive lineman in 247Sports' rankings, while On3 ranks him the No. 5 lineman and No. 33 overall recruit.
Perry-Wright is the No. 5 overall player in the state of Georgia, per 247Sports, which gave him a crystal ball projection to commit to Clemson back on May 29 before Texas A&M began making its push.
Perry-Wright's commitment ceremony will be streamed live on CBS Sports HQ and YouTube Saturday.

On3 and 247Sports both rank Clemson's 2026 recruiting class in the top 10, at No. 9 and 10, respectively. At last update, ESPN ranked the Tigers with the nation's No. 6 overall class with 11 ESPN 300 recruits.

Tigers land second Sunday night baseball game as ESPN rewards their recent surge originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The last time the Tigers played on Sunday Night Baseball, it felt like the start of something. Advertisement Now it feels like confirmation that they are one of the hottest and most exciting teams in baseball. Detroit is back in ESPN's national spotlight on July 20, when the Tigers travel to Texas to face the defending champion Rangers. After over two million viewers watched reigning Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal crush the souls of the Minnesota Twins hitters on June 30, it's no surprise ESPN is coming back to the Tigers. The team announced it on social media Wednesday afternoon. Since mid-June, they've surged up the standings, riding elite starting pitching, a stabilizing bullpen, and a lineup that suddenly looks confident in big moments. They've climbed back into the playoff race and turned what once felt like another rebuilding year into a legitimate run. Advertisement And people are starting to notice. The Yankees. The Dodgers. Big brands with big markets. But the Tigers earned their first SNB appearance in eight years just last week—and now, they're getting a second. They didn't get back in by accident. They played their way in. Tarik Skubal, already in the Cy Young conversation, set the tone last Sunday. Riley Greene has been electric. Four-star safety Tylan Wilson names Clemson in his final three schools
Clemson football's 2026 recruiting class is closing in on some key decisions in the secondary, with two of their top uncommitted safety targets set to announce where they'll play college football later this month. Four-star Tylan Wilson trimmed his list to three schools on Wednesday, putting Clemson in the mix alongside Texas A&M and Arkansas. The Georgia native has been on Clemson's radar since he picked up an offer in January and he was on campus for the Tigers' major official visit weekend in early June — a visit that helped solidify Clemson's spot among his top choices. Wilson is scheduled to announce his decision on July 18. According to 247Sports, he's the No. 221 overall prospect and ranks No. 17 among safeties in the 2026 cycle. Advertisement The other top name left on the board is four-star Blake Stewart, who is also nearing the end of his recruitment. Stewart plans to reveal his commitment on July 13, with Clemson battling Miami and Vanderbilt for his pledge. The Tigers are believed to be in a strong position with Stewart, who Rivals ranks as the No. 149 player overall and the No. 10 safety in the country. Clemson has already secured two safeties in the current class, so there's only room for one more addition at the position. With spots limited, landing either Wilson or Stewart would close out the position group in strong fashion for safeties coach Mickey Conn and the defensive staff. The next two weeks will be crucial as the Tigers try to lock in one of their final defensive pieces for what's shaping up to be another highly ranked recruiting class. Cam Newton Hopes Arch Manning Learned Lessons from Quinn Ewers Like He Did from Tim Tebow
Cam Newton Hopes Arch Manning Learned Lessons from Quinn Ewers Like He Did from Tim Tebow originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There is a lot of excitement around Arch Manning heading into next season. After two years serving as the backup quarterback behind Quinn Ewers, Manning is set to be the starter for Texas next season. Advertisement On Wednesday, in a new episode of "4th & 1 with Cam Newton," the former Heisman winner spoke about what he hopes Manning took from playing behind Ewers. He spoke about his experience with Tim Tebow in Florida and how he hopes that while Manning is a more talented QB than Ewers, he still learned something from him. "I've always felt like I was more talented than Tim Tebow, but I needed Tim Tebow to show me what I lacked," Newton said. "Tim Tebow was an unbelievable leader. Verbally and by action. Arch will be a fool if he has not learned anything from Quinn Ewers. How he prepared, how he led his team, and how he handled and managed the expectations of being a quarterback at a university like Texas." He has earned this praise despite never starting for a full season at the college level. Advertisement Manning started two games this past season in September while Ewers was injured. While Manning performed well in those games against UL Monroe and Mississippi State, throwing for 250+ yards and two TDs in both games, he does not have experience starting a full season. As a result, it would not be shocking if he experienced growing pains next season.
