Arizona Cardinals OTAs: Who was present, who returned and who missed? A look at which Cardinals were not at Tuesday's voluntary practice and who returned.
The Arizona Cardinals began their second and final week of voluntary OTAs (organized team activities) on Tuesday, and it was the one day of the week that reporters were able to see who was and who was not present. This is still the voluntary part of the offseason program, so absences are not necessarily cause for concern.
Who was there and who was not?
Arizona Cardinals players not seen at OTAs on Tuesday
SI.com's Donnie Druin and AZCentral Sports' Theo Mackie noted the following players not present on the field during the open part of practice.
OLB BJ Ojulari
OLB Josh Sweat
ILB Akeem Davis-Gaither
DL Bilal Nichols
DL Calais Campbell
DL Dalvin Tomlinson
DL Justin Jones
Safety Budda Baker was seen working on the side. That normally means some sort of injury albeit usually minor.
Mackie noted that Davis-Gaither and Jones were new absences after being present last week.
Ojulari is coming off an ACL injury from last year. Nichols is coming off a neck injury and Jones had his season ended with a triceps injury.
Sweat, Campbell and Tomlinson are all new free agent additions. Based on comments by linebacker Zaven Collins, Sweat has been in the building. He just hasn't been on the field for the two practices that reporters could see.

OT Kelvin Beachum
OT Jonah Williams
C Hjalte Froholdt
DL Walter Nolen
Beachum's absence wasn't really a concern, especially considering his age and length of career. He also has been vocal about players taking the time with their families in the voluntary part of the offseason as well.
Froholdt has been seen in photos shared by the team on social media in other parts of the offseason, so his absence wasn't a real concern.
Williams is coming off a season-ending knee injury that sidelined him twice last season. His being on the field and participating is actually great news.
Nolen was working on the side last week. Head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Tuesday that his being on the side was neither health nor contract-related.

San Francisco 49ers LT Trent Williams has dominated the Arizona Cardinals
San Francisco 49ers LT Trent Williams has dominated the Arizona Cardinals PFF made a list of the highest-graded player against each NFL team. Against the Cardinals, 49ers LT Trent Williams dominates. The Arizona Cardinals, playing in the NFC West, regularly play some dominant players. PFF put together an interesting list of the highest-graded player against every team since 2020, provided they have played against them at least twice and have logged at least 100 snaps. If you had to guess who that player might be against the Cardinals, you might say former LA Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald. Good guess, but that isn't correct, although Donald does come up on PFF's list as the top-graded player against two other teams. Thet player to absolutely dominate the Cardinals is San Francisco 49ers tackle Trent Williams. Williams has made a habit of mauling everybody in front of him, and the Arizona Cardinals are likely awaiting the day he retires. Across nine games against the Cardinals since 2020, Williams has recorded an unreal 96.9 PFF overall grade and a 97.5 PFF run-blocking grade. Arizona certainly has its own run defense to at least partially blame, but Williams is a freight train the team just can't stop. Williams has been arguably the best tackle in the league for years. That, combined with a lack of impact pass rushers since 2020 outside of Chandler Jones and generally a weak run defense, is a recipe for dominance. Jones also struggled against Williams. Williams comes up twice on this list as he is also the highest-graded player against the Detroit Lions as well. 94 days till the Arizona Cardinals' 2025 season opener: Who has worn No. 94?
94 days till the Arizona Cardinals' 2025 season opener: Who has worn No. 94? With 94 days till the Cardinals open the season against the Saints, we look at the players who have worn No. 94. We are counting down to the start of the 2025 regular season for the Arizona Cardinals and are now less than 14 weeks away. They will open the season on the road against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 7. That is 94 days away. As we count down the remaining days of the offseason, let's look at who has worn that number uniform over the years for the Cardinals. Who has worn No. 94? Cardinals players to wear No. 94 No. 94 currently belongs to one of the Cardinals' big offseason additions — defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson. He is expect to have a big impact on the play up front defensively. DL Dalvin Tomlinson (2025-?) DL P.J. Mustipher (2024) DL Carlos Watkins (2023) DL Zach Allen (2020-2022) DL Caraun Reid (2019) DL Cameron Malveaux (2018) DL Xavier Williams (2015-2017) LB Sam Acho (2011-2014) DL Keilen Dykes (2009) DL Antonio Smith (2006-2008) DL Antonio Cochran (2005) DL Peppi Zellner (2004) DL Marcus Bell (2001-2003) DL Corey Sears (1999-2000) DL Bernard Wilson (1994-1998) LB David Merritt (1993) DL Jeff Faulkner (1991-1992) DL Gary Dulin (1986) No. 94 is another number that has only been used in the last 40 years. It has also been mostly a number for less impactful and transient players, although Wilson was solid for five seasons and Antonio Smith was a key piece to their Super Bowl run in 2008. Based on this list, Tomlinson is the best player to wear it even before he plays a down. Let's hope that he continues his career play so that is a reality. NFL analyst gives 49ers free-agent signing surprising level of respect
NFL analyst gives 49ers free-agent signing surprising level of respect This offseason has been a busy one for the San Francisco 49ers quarterback room, as the team watched Joshua Dobbs leave for a two-year, $8 million deal with the New England Patriots and Brandon Allen sign a one-year, $1.42 million contract with the Tennessee Titans. San Francisco also gave starting quarterback Brock Purdy a five-year, $265 million extension after three strong years to start his career. However, with Dobbs and Allen out, the 49ers needed a backup for Purdy, and they landed on 2021 first-round pick Mac Jones. Jones, 26, spent four seasons at Alabama, winning two national championships and earning both All-American and All-SEC honors once before the Patriots took him with pick No. 15. While Jones had success as a rookie, completing 67.6% of his passes for 3,801 yards, 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions on his way to the Pro Bowl, he struggled mightily the following two seasons in New England (65% completion percentage, 5,117 yards, 24 touchdowns and 23 interceptions). He was eventually benched for Bailey Zappe and then traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a sixth-round pick last offseason. In his lone year in Jacksonville, he completed 65.3% of his passes for 1,672 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions while leading the team to a 2-5 record. After landing a two-year, $7 million deal with the 49ers this offseason, Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano has ranked Jones as the sixth-best backup quarterback in the NFL, behind Jaxson Dart (Giants), Jake Browning (Bengals), Daniel Jones (Colts), Jimmy Garoppolo (Rams) and Kirk Cousins (Falcons). "Jones will finally get to learn from Kyle Shanahan after various reports stated that he was Shanahan's first choice in the lead-up to the 2021 NFL draft before the team ultimately selected Trey Lance with the No. 3 pick," Manzano wrote. "After mixed results with the Patriots and Jaguars, Jones will back up Brock Purdy, who just received a hefty pay raise with his five-year, $265 million contract extension. Jones sometimes gets a little reckless, but he has a knack for pushing the ball downfield. " Coming out of the draft, Jones was seen as the prospect with the highest floor, and that's ideal for a backup quarterback. If he can keep San Francisco afloat if Purdy goes down with an injury in 2025, his signing will have been worth it. More 49ers: Get a first look at the 49ers' newest defensive end in uniform at OTAs
