Gordon Ramsay's new London restaurant sees 477 lucky cat thefts
Nearly 500 cat figurines have been stolen from a new Gordon Ramsay restaurant in one week at an estimated cost of more than £2,000, the TV chef has said. The restaurateur recently launched Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay, in Bishopsgate in central London, featuring the beckoning Japanese cat models called maneki-neko.The 58-year-old, known for his Hell's Kitchen and Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares reality TV programmes, told ITV's The Jonathan Ross Show: "The cats are getting stolen. There were 477 stolen last week - they cost £4.50 each."The City Of London Police said it has not received any reports of theft from the restaurant.
The number of cat figurine's stolen would amount to a loss of £2,146.50. The maneki-neko figurines are believed by some within Japanese culture to bring good luck and have been a feature in the Lucky Cat restaurants.The restaurant, which serves Asian-inspired cuisine, opened earlier this month in one of London's tallest buildings, skyscraper 22 Bishopsgate.
Ramsay has two restaurants under the Lucky Cat brand within London, with the other being in Mayfair, opening in 2019.The other two locations, according to its website, are in Manchester and Miami, Florida.The Jonathan Ross Show airs on Saturday at 9.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

She says that there have 'been enough convictions across the country of groups of men from Asian ethnic backgrounds to have warranted closer examination.' The report calls for the law to be tightened so that any adult who has sex with a child under the age of 16 is automatically charged with rape, removing current legal grey areas that allow abusers to avoid proper punishment. Modernise Police Systems: Upgrade technology to enable seamless communication and prevent missed opportunities. 8. Treat Grooming Gangs as Serious Organised Crime: Employ the same robust strategies used to combat other forms of organised criminal activity. 9. Investigate Declining Reports: The Department for Education must examine why reports of child abuse are decreasing and take corrective action. 10. Understand the Underlying Drivers: Conduct in-depth research into the factors underpinning grooming gangs, including cultural and online influences. 11. Regulate the Taxi Industry: Prevent exploitation by restricting the use of 'out-of-area' taxi drivers. 12. Commit Government Resources: Ministers must allocate funding and ensure measurable progress is achieved. It also recommends a national inquiry to bring more perpetrators to justice, including a fresh review of historic cases that were dropped or never fully investigated. Agencies such as police forces, local councils, and social care bodies must be held accountable for past failures, with support given to local inquiries and renewed scrutiny of previous statutory reviews. The audit stresses the importance of collecting more accurate and transparent data—particularly on the ethnicity of offenders—to fully understand and confront the patterns behind group-based exploitation. To improve prevention and response, it urges better information-sharing between police, children's services, and health providers, ensuring warning signs are spotted and acted upon swiftly. The report recommends treating child sexual exploitation with the same seriousness as major organised crime, using specialised investigation tactics and prioritising victim-centred approaches. It calls for an end to the harmful "adultification" of teenage girls, especially those in care, who are too often judged as complicit rather than recognised as vulnerable children. The government is also urged to close legal loopholes in taxi licensing that allow drivers to exploit inconsistent local regulation, often placing children at greater risk. Victims should be offered trauma counselling immediately and without legal delay, with their recovery treated as a priority alongside any criminal investigations. Finally, the audit calls for strong, coordinated national leadership and a long-term strategy to ensure group-based child sexual exploitation is properly addressed and never ignored again. KIDS STILL ABUSED Children across Britain are still being sexually abused in gangs and officials can't say how many. The scathing audit by Baroness Casey found there's 'no recent study' and 'incomplete data' across police, councils and the justice system, meaning the scale of abuse is unknown. In 2023, cops logged just 700 group-based exploitation crimes but the report warned this 'is highly unlikely to accurately reflect the true scale' The report also said 500,000 kids are likely to be sexually abused each year, yet most cases are never reported or recognised. On ethnicity, the report found two-thirds of perpetrators have no ethnicity recorded, making national data worthless. But in three police force areas, local records showed 'disproportionate numbers of men from Asian ethnic backgrounds', including Pakistani communities among suspects. Baroness Casey said the system has 'shied away' from the truth for year - allowing flawed data to mask patterns and leaving victims without answers. She warned this failure has 'done a disservice to victims' and to 'law-abiding people in Asian communities' alike.

There is every chance Classic class acts Rosallion and Notable Speech will improve past Lead Artist and Dancing Gemini — the one-two in the Lockinge — and I've long held the opinion Rosallion is the one to beat. However, the draw has fallen kindly for Roger Teal's stable star and I'm sticking with the horse who will run right to the line. Remember, back in the day, Dancing Gemini was far from disgraced in the Derby. However he's come alive this season back over a mile and the more you watch the Newbury Group 1 the harder it is to quite know how he got beat. Ideally he might prefer more juice in the ground this afternoon, but the draw has worked out very well with Lead Artist next door. I imagine Shoemark will track that rival and try and pounce late. What a start, I can't wait. The Group 2 Coventry Stakes for two-year-old colts over six furlongs is always a lottery and there have been some big-priced winners over the years. I'm going to chance BALLISTIC MISSILE (3.05) to shoot down his rivals for Richard Hannon and Shane Foley. A €260,000 yearling, the son of Mehmas — second to Caravaggio in the 2016 Coventry — got off to the perfect start when scooting home at York on debut over five furlongs. He looked green that day and will improve. This stiffer test will also suit him better. Back to Group 1 company for the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes — the old King's Stand — over five furlongs. A right Royal tough one this! Connections of REGIONAL (3.40) wanted to be drawn away from Night Raider and that's happened. They are both speedballs who want to get out and be away and gone. And Regional — second last year — might just be good enough to hang on for Callum Rodriguez. Field Of Gold is odds-on for the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes for three-year-old colts over a mile. There is a real chance for RULING COURT (4.20) here to show his 2,000 Guineas glory wasn't simply down to Shoemark and Field Of Gold challenging too late. With two pacemakers, Ruling Court will get the perfect position in third or fourth to pounce on the leaders first. Of course there is a little bit of heart ruling head here for me, and I won't be surprised in the least if Field Of Gold — a horse I love for a superb operation in Juddmonte — follows up his Irish 2,000 success under the classy Colin Keane. But it's Ruling Court for me for Charlie Appleby and William Buick. All eyes will be on Reaching High for the King — not to mention Ryan Moore and Willie Mullins — in the Ascot Stakes. Hats will be orf if he wins at short odds but MANXMAN (5.00) might go well as an each-way hope from a good draw in stall four. While I dislike the horse and the way jockeys have been treated when riding him, there is a real chance here for AMBIENTE FRIENDLY (5.35) will bounce back to form in the Listed Wolferton Stakes. He has been hopeless in small fields this season, but they were never going to suit a horse who often is hard to settle and needs to run at a strong gallop. Here the former Derby runner-up has no excuses from a fine draw and gets Rab Havlin back on, who was on board at Epsom. CABALLO DE MAR (6.10) has been one of the success stories of the season and has risen up the handicap ranks from 65 to 97.
