Monsoon Session likely to be ‘stormy' as Congress set to corner government
The month-long Monsoon session of Parliament is set to begin on July 21.
He further stated that the Congress would also corner the Government on the issue of 'electoral manipulations' in elections in states such as Maharashtra, Haryana, and now in Bihar.
The Congress will also raise the issue of rising incidents of crimes against women and Scheduled Castes across the country, particularly in states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha.
'The Congress will raise the demand for the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, which has remained pending despite repeated assurances from the Government,' he said.
On the question of the impeachment motion against Allahabad High Court justice Yashwant Verma, who is facing allegations of corruption charges after the discovery of burnt cash from his official residence in Delhi, the Congress leader didn't give any clear reply. He said that several other issues were also discussed in the meeting.
Earlier in the day, the Congress president, Mallikarjun Kharge, met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and said the opposition wants a productive session.
'The Opposition wants a productive Rajya Sabha session from July 21st. For that to happen a number of strategic, political, foreign policy and socio-economic issues that are of great public concern need to be debated and discussed. Today, I called on the Hon'ble Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and had a fruitful conversation,' Kharge wrote on 'X'.

PATNA: A day after RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav hinted at a possible boycott of the upcoming assembly election over the process being adopted for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, his ally, the Congress, said that the INDIA bloc was considering the 'unprecedented' option of boycotting the polls. When asked whether his party aligned with Tejashwi's suggestion of possibly boycotting the assembly polls, Allavaru said, 'The INDIA bloc has maintained from day one that the SIR is designed to steal the elections. So, talks are underway on all options. One thing is clear, the votes of the people of Bihar are being stolen. All routes are open. All options are being considered.'

UK, India say no room for double standards on terrorism in Modi–Starmer talks
NEW DELHI: India and the United Kingdom on Thursday sent a strong, united message against terrorism, with both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Keir Starmer agreeing that there can be no double standards in tackling extremism. Following a bilateral meeting at the Chequers Estate, Modi thanked Starmer for the UK's strong condemnation of the April terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives. 'We are united in our view that there can be no place for double standards in the fight against terrorism,' Modi said. 'We also agree that forces with extremist ideologies must not be allowed to misuse democratic freedoms. Those who misuse democratic freedoms to undermine democracy itself must be held to account.' The statement, also seen as a veiled reference to pro-Khalistani activities abroad, comes amid growing Indian concern over threats to Indian diplomats and missions in the UK. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri later said that India had raised the issue during the bilateral talks.
