JPJ seizes 270 luxury vehicles in nationwide Ops Luxury crackdown
The operation, active since July 1, targets luxury cars driven without proper documentation nationwide.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli stated that the crackdown ensures strict action against non-compliant vehicle owners.
'This operation is a stern measure against luxury vehicles that are being driven without paying road tax, with some also without insurance coverage,' he said.
Seized vehicles will remain impounded until owners settle outstanding road tax, insurance, and summonses.
Among the detained cars were a Ferrari in Johor Bahru and a Rolls-Royce in Kuala Lumpur with unpaid road tax of RM29,000 annually.
A Lamborghini Huracán with RM12,000 annual road tax was also seized during the operation.
Aedy revealed some vehicles had lapsed road tax for over a year, with one case in Kuala Lumpur reaching three years.
The owner of the three-year-lapsed vehicle claimed to have 'forgotten' to renew the road tax.
Ops Luxury will expand to Perlis, Sabah, and Sarawak as part of continuous enforcement efforts.
'We do not want luxury vehicles on the road without valid road tax and insurance,' Aedy emphasised.
He highlighted the high public safety risks if uninsured luxury vehicles are involved in accidents.
Legal action has been initiated against several owners in court for non-compliance.
Owners who settle their arrears can reclaim their vehicles after fulfilling all requirements.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the individual had claimed that he was present during the post-mortem on Aug 10, but checks by the Health Ministry (MoH) confirmed that he was neither a specialist nor an MoH staff member. 'This individual shared various false information during a TikTok live session, creating the impression that his claims were factual. 'Unfortunately, the content went viral and has caused public confusion,' he told reporters after launching the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 campaign for Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya at the Teacher Education Institute (Malay Language Campus) here today. Fahmi said the matter was confirmed by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad through an official report from health deputy director-general (Medical) Datuk Dr Nor Azimi Yunus, who obtained verified information from the forensic specialists handling the case. 'The head of the forensic team confirmed the TikTok user was not a forensic specialist and that all information disseminated was false. According to The Star, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Rolls-Royces were among the flashy machines caught being driven without valid road tax or insurance. JPJ director-general, Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, said the sweep snared celebrities, influencers and entrepreneurs, with some owing up to RM29,000 in back taxes. 'The seized cars include Ferrari, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce, with some of them still driven without road tax for about three years. 'In Johor alone, we detained 11 vehicles, including a car with an annual road tax of RM12,000. 'In Kuala Lumpur, the highest road tax arrears recorded was RM29,000,' he reportedly said at a press conference yesterday, as cited by The Star. Owners can only reclaim their luxury rides once all outstanding road tax, insurance, and summonses are cleared.
