JPJ shared on Facebook last Saturday (10 August) that 258 luxury cars were seized nationwide in the operation's latest phase codenamed Ops Luxury 3.0, where 104 high-end vehicles including Ferrari, Range Rover, Porsche, and Ford Mustang models driven by both locals and foreigners were confiscated. Muhamad Kifli said the vehicles were seized for offences that included the driver not having a valid driver's licence, as well as expired road tax and insurance. A total of 627 summonses were issued in the last operation. 'Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest number of seizures with 93 vehicles, followed by Selangor with 61, Penang with 28, Sarawak with 16, and Kelantan with 15. 'All vehicles have been placed at the JPJ depot for futher investigation and were seized under the Road Transport Act 1987,' Muhamad Kifli said. JPJ smells a syndicate after foreigner caught with fake Malaysian licence in flashy ride
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 — Ops Luxury 3.0, carried out by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) that ended yesterday, uncovered several offences, including a foreign national driving a luxury vehicle with a Malaysian driving licence believed to be fake. JPJ Senior Enforcement Director Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said the individual was among nine foreigners caught driving luxury vehicles with various offences, including with no insurance and expired road tax, during the operation that began last Thursday. 'The most serious offence detected was the possession of a fake Malaysian driving licence by a foreigner from a South Asian country. JPJ will conduct further investigations to identify how the fake licence was obtained. 'We do not rule out the possibility of a syndicate forging the document, and a thorough investigation from various aspects will be carried out,' he told a press conference here today. He said all nine foreigners had been issued summonses. Muhammad Kifli said JPJ would seek the cooperation of the Malaysian Immigration Department and related agencies to investigate the case, stressing that no leniency would be shown to any individual, including foreigners, who violates traffic laws. According to a post on JPJ Sarawak's official Facebook page, the vehicle was seized during 'Ops Luxury', an operation focusing on luxury vehicles that fail to comply with road regulations. 'Such offences not only reflect a negligent attitude towards legal obligations but also pose potential safety risks to other road users,' it stated. JPJ Sarawak emphasised that Ops Luxury demonstrates its commitment to the principle that no one is above the law, regardless of whether they drive a regular or luxury vehicle. This approach reinforces that complying with regulations is a shared responsibility for public safety. JPJ Sarawak advises all vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicles are legally compliant, not excessively modified, and covered by valid insurance and road tax. 'The law does not recognise status, and safety is a right for everyone on the road. No amount of luxury can ever replace the value of a human life,' it added.
