Why are countries throwing money at IShowSpeed to visit them?
Darren 'IShowSpeed' Watkins Jr. is turning his chaotic livestreams into government-funded tourism campaigns, and the numbers are wild. The 20-year-old streamer, known for barking on camera and sprinting shirtless through airports, is now being
paid by actual countries
to visit and promote them.
Speed's European invasion is not just for content; it's big business
Earlier this month, Speed was spotted filming in the Baltic states: Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia each reportedly dropped around $35,000 to bring him in. That includes a $20,000 appearance fee for Speed and about $10,000 to cover local logistics like security, transport, and on-ground coordination.
From throwing a discus with an Olympic medalist in Lithuania to cruising through Latvian streets with a driver who once chauffeured Michael Jackson (true story), Speed's trip was anything but ordinary.
And it worked. In Estonia alone, his July 15 livestream drew nearly 2 million viewers. That's not counting the hundreds of viral clips that flooded TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram in the days that followed.
In Estonia he even got a personal tour of the Prime Minister's home. No press conference, no official statements, just a live chat with one of the country's top political figures... in front of a screaming Twitch chat.

Governments bet big on virality, and
IShowSpeed
delivers
Tourism officials across the Baltics defended the spending, calling it a
strategic investment
. With millions of young travelers glued to influencers rather than brochures, destinations are desperate for relevance in the scroll era.
'Every destination is fighting for the attention of the same travelers,'
one tourism rep said.
It's not just about views, either. Countries are banking on a ripple effect, the post-stream buzz, the memes, the sudden surge in Gen Z searches for 'Estonia flights.'
This isn't even new for Speed, it's just leveling up
Speed's been on a worldwide streamer spree lately across Asia, South America, Europe, Oceania, and now, he's back on Twitch too. After being reinstated on the platform, he gained 600,000+ followers in just eight days.
He's also eyeing something wild: a space livestream, possibly with Elon Musk.
He wants to be the first streamer to go live from space, and yes, he's kind of racing Kai Cenat for that title.

Karisma Kapoor's daughter Samaira steps out in stylish black outfit amid family feud over Sunjay Kapur's Rs 30,000 crore fortune
Samaira Kapur, the daughter of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor and late businessman Sunjay Kapur, was recently spotted stepping out in Mumbai for an evening outing with her friends. The young star kid grabbed attention with her chic fashion choice, a sleek black outfit that looked both trendy and elegant. According to a video shared by InstantBollywood, Samaira was seen quickly getting into her car along with her friend. She styled her hair in a sleek back ponytail, letting a few strands fall freely. Her look was completed with a pair of dainty earrings, a stylish watch, and a few delicate bracelets. Samaira visits Delhi with her mum Just last week, Samaira was seen visiting Delhi, along with her mother Karisma Kapoor and brother Kiaan. While this might seem like a usual family trip, the timing has raised a few eyebrows. Karisma's visit comes in the middle of a reported legal feud over the enormous fortune left behind by her ex-husband Sunjay Kapur. Sunjay passed away in June this year, reportedly due to a cardiac arrest caused by accidentally swallowing a bee during a polo match. His last rites were performed in Delhi. Karisma has no stake in fortune With rumours flying around that Karisma might be involved in matters linked to Sunjay's Rs 30,000 crore estate, a source close to the family has now set the record straight. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like How to Ease Knee Pain Without Injections or Side Effects Learn More Undo The source told ETimes, Karisma is not part of any property-related talks. 'Karisma Kapoor is not involved in any inheritance or property-related matters,' said a source close to the family. 'She has no claim, nor is she seeking any share in the estate. Her only concern is the well-being and future of her children.' Children are rightful heirs to the estate Karisma and Sunjay were married in 2003 and got divorced in 2016 after a rocky relationship. They have two children together, Samaira and Kiaan. The same source confirmed that the children are the rightful heirs to their father's wealth. 'The children will receive what is due to them,' the source added. 'Karisma's focus remains entirely on them.' Sunjay's mother seeks police probe Meanwhile, the drama surrounding the estate has taken a serious turn. Rani Kapur, Sunjay's mother and former chairperson of Sona Comstar, has formally reached out to the UK authorities. She has asked for a full investigation into what she describes as the 'unexplained circumstances' surrounding her son's death. According to ANI, Rani Kapur filed an official criminal complaint with British police and stressed the urgency of a proper probe. Media reports also suggest that she believes something more serious may have happened. Rani claims to have 'credible and concerning evidence… that suggests his (Sunjay Kapur's) death may not have been accidental or natural, but may have involved foul play, including possibility of murder, abetment, conspiracy, fraud, and forgery.
