Multiple people killed in mass shooting incident at Bangkok market: police
A post on the official Facebook page of the Royal Thai Police says there were at least six fatalities, including the gunman who took his own life.
Photos show police on scene at the Or Tor Kor market in Bangkok, which sells agricultural produce and local food.
The victims included four security guards and one woman, according to the Erawan Emergency Medical Center that monitors Bangkok hospitals.
Monday's violence came against the backdrop of five days of violent border clashes between Thailand and its neighbor, Cambodia.
Leaders on either side were meeting in Malaysia on Monday in an urgent effort to resolve the fighting.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said State Department officials were on the ground in Malaysia to assist in the peace talks.
"Both President Trump and I remain engaged with our respective counterparts for each country and are monitoring the situation very closely," Rubio said in a statement. "We want this conflict to end as soon as possible."

Gaza aid truck drivers face increasing danger from desperate crowds and armed gangs
Truck drivers trying to deliver aid inside Gaza say their work has become increasingly dangerous in recent months as people have grown desperately hungry and violent gangs have filled a power vacuum left by the territory's Hamas rulers. Crowds of hungry people routinely rip aid off the backs of moving trucks, the local drivers said. Some trucks are hijacked by armed men working for gangs who sell the aid in Gaza's markets for exorbitant prices . Israeli troops often shoot into the chaos, they said.

Stoke Newington murder: Investigation launched after man, 45, killed in overnight Hackney shooting
A murder investigation has been launched after a 45-year-old man was shot in east London. Police were called to Dynevor Road in Stoke Newington, Hackney just after 12.15am on Tuesday after gunshots were heard. Paramedics attended to the victim as a Lime bike lay was found strewn pavement on the other side of the road. Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, a man was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers, the Metropolitan Police said. Stoke Newington High Street is currently closed between Amhurst Road and Kynaston Avenue. No arrests have been made. Detective Chief Superintendent Brittany Clarke said: "We understand this incident will cause concern within the Stoke Newington community, however we do believe this to be an isolated incident at this stage of the investigation with no wider risk to the general public." Liza Dodds, 58, a youth worker who lives opposite Dynevor Road, told the BBC: "My husband woke up and said there was gunshots. The instant reaction was 'how do you know?' "We both got up and had a look. A police officer was doing CPR where the person fell. It seemed like they were going forever." Another resident told the Hackney Gazette: 'I heard two or three gunshots around about midnight or 12.30am. They woke me up.' A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: 'We were called at 12.18am today (August 5) to reports of a shooting at the junction of Stoke Newington High Street and Dynevor Road, Hackney. 'We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, a paramedic from our tactical response unit and an incident response officer. 'We also dispatched a trauma team from London's Air Ambulance, which consisted of a paramedic and a doctor in car. 'Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.'
