Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi to visit India on May 8, says Embassy of Iran in India
As per the embassy, the Iranian Foreign Minister will visit India after a stop in Islamabad where he will hold talks with Pakistani officials.
"Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to visit India this Thursday, after holding talks with Pakistani officials in Islamabad", the post on X read.
The top diplomat is set to participate in the Joint Economic Commission, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said in a press briefing in Tehran as reported by state media IRNA.
On April 25, the Iranian Foreign Minister had given a call for peace to prevail in neighbourhood in a post on X. From his personal account, Araghchi had called India and Pakistan as the foremost priority.
His call for peace came in the wake of the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam targeted tourists, killing 26 people.
He had shared that Tehran stands "ready" to put its good offices in Islamabad and New Delhi to use for forging a "greater understanding at this difficult time".
He wrote on X, "India and Pakistan are brotherly neighbors of Iran, enjoying relations rooted in centuries-old cultural and civilizational ties. Like other neighbors, we consider them our foremost priority. Tehran stands ready to use its good offices in Islamabad and New Delhi to forge greater understanding at this difficult time, in line with the spirit taught by Persian poet Saadi:

If one member is inflicted with pain
Other members uneasy will remain"
Following the Pahalgam attack, India has taken strong countermeasures against Pakistan for its support of cross-border terrorism.
In the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 23, India decided to hold the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 in abeyance until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably abjures its support for cross-border terrorism and closes the integrated Attari Check Post. India has also declared the officials of the Pakistani High Commission persona non grata and ordered them to leave India within a week.
The central government also decided to cancel any visas provided under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) and ordered Pakistan to leave the country within 48 hours. The Government of India also immediately suspended visa services for Pakistani nationals.
Amid the ongoing tensions, India also imposed an immediate ban on the direct or indirect import and transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan, regardless of their import status, effectively halting bilateral trade flows, according to a notification by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Oman grants visa-free entry to Armenian citizens
Muscat – Oman has included citizens of the Republic of Armenia in its list of countries exempt from entry visa, a move announced during the fifth round of political consultations held in Yerevan on Tuesday. The talks were led by H E Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs in Foreign Ministry, and Vahan Kostanyan, Armenia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. H E Sheikh Khalifa welcomed Armenia's decision to open a resident embassy in Muscat and expressed appreciation for Armenia's recent move to exempt Omani citizens from tourist visa requirements. He informed the Armenian delegation about Oman's reciprocal decision to grant visa-free entry to Armenian nationals. The discussions also covered ways to expand bilateral cooperation across various spheres, including trade, cargo shipment, air communication, IT, education, science, culture and tourism. Both sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest. Pakistan expatriate named IHRM president in Oman
Muscat – Syed Shaandar Ali Shah Bukhari, a Pakistani national residing in Muscat, has been appointed president of International Human Rights Movement (IHRM) in Oman. The UK-based organisation is dedicated to protecting and promoting human rights worldwide. Formalised on August 8, the appointment recognises Bukhari's humanitarian work and commitment to advancing fundamental human rights. The appointment letter, issued jointly by the President and Board of Governors of IHRM, highlights Bukhari's role in promoting sustainable development, peace and security. Bukhari has gained recognition for his social work and contributions to humanitarian causes in Muscat. 'I am extremely happy with the new role. My responsibilities will include contributing to the enrichment and preservation of human rights, and supporting IHRM's collaboration with governments, the United Nations and other international institutions. The overarching goal is to protect the basic fundamental human rights of individuals as declared in the universal charter of human rights, working towards global peace, and social and economic justice,' Bukhari said. He has been involved in initiatives such as repatriation of prisoners and assistance to displaced persons.
