I am not scared: Veteran actor Aruna Irani on beating cancer twice
Bollywood and television veteran Aruna Irani recently shared that she fought breast cancer not once, but twice, choosing to keep the diagnosis private. In a recent interview, the actor shared about the health challenges she faced, including a cancer relapse and diabetes diagnosis, all while continuing her illustrious career in film and television.Aruna shared that she first discovered the disease back in 2015, "I felt that something was wrong," the actor recalled. Her breast cancer relapsed in 2020, just before the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this time the actor decided to undergo chemotherapy. 'It was my fault for not taking chemo the first time,' she admitted.Additionally, Aruna was also diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 60. Her health faced another critical challenge when doctors cautioned her about the risk of kidney failure. Nevertheless, she stayed strong, dedicating herself to recovery and holding on to a hopeful mindset.Aruna Irani began her journey in cinema as a child actor in 'Ganga Jumna' (1961) and rose to become one of Indian cinema's most prolific performers. Bhubaneswar: Visitors to BDA City Centre, formerly known as Nicco Park, have expressed dissatisfaction with the facility's deteriorating conditions despite an entry fee of Rs 100. The pond for boating also stinks." In response, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has announced plans for a comprehensive redevelopment of the park. The ambitious project, at an estimated budget of Rs 200 crore, will include the development of a 3.5-km stormwater channel and a lake zone along drainage channel 10 near Smart Janpath. BDA vice-chairman N Thirumala Naik said, "The issue was discussed recently at a high-level meeting and it was decided that an agency will be roped in for redevelopment of the park." Suprabha Dhal, from the park's operating team, attributed the decline in visitor numbers to damage from past cyclones and the impact of Covid-19 pandemic. "Earlier, the daily footfall used to be 5,000, but now there are not more than 200 visitors. The govt is planning a revamp of the park and will allocate funds for the purpose. We are hopeful the park will return to its earlier glory soon," Dhal said.
