Florida Basketball in the Top 5 of ESPN's Transfer Portal Rankings

Florida Basketball in the Top 5 of ESPN's Transfer Portal Rankings originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Florida Gators basketball head coach Todd Golden is gearing up to defend a title in the 2025-26 season. In order to do this, Golden needed to assemble a talented group of transfers and recruits to reload. Advertisement That is something ESPN believes Golden has achieved on paper. Jeff Borzello has ranked the teams that he believes have done the best work in the transfer portal. He had Florida at No. 5, the second-best work from SEC teams, with Kentucky being at No. 2. The reigning National Champions brought in three transfers for the new season. Xaivian Lee from Princeton, AJ Brown from Ohio, and one from SEC rival Arkansas in Boogie Fland. Florida Gators head coach Todd Golden after winning the national Deutsch-Imagn Images Borzello touched on the addition of Fland, with the signing being a big reason why they are so high in the rankings. "Fland's decision vaulted Florida into these class rankings -- near the top of the Fland's decision vaulted Florida into these class rankings -- and near the top of the Way-Too-Early top 25. He's a former five-star prospect and was one of the best freshmen in the country before suffering an injury in January.." Borzello wrote, "He's a former five-star prospect and was one of the best freshmen in the country before suffering an injury in January." Advertisement The Florida Gators did not only win the National Championship but also the SEC Tournament. They also added two four-star players from the 2025 recruiting class, CJ Ingram and Alex Lloyd. Both are Florida natives and top 50 players in the 247Sports rankings. Borzello ranked the Gators at No. 2 in his Way-Too-Early top 25 behind the Purdue Boilermakers. They have lost several players who helped them achieve greatness last season, including Walter Clayton Jr., Will Richard, Alijah Martin, and Denzel Aberdeen. However, the players they brought in alongside Alex Condon, who withdrew his name from the NBA Draft to return to Gainesville, give them a great chance to go back-to-back next season. Gilbert Burns: Logan Storley's win over Joaquin Buckley shows Kamaru Usman the way

Gilbert Burns: Logan Storley's win over Joaquin Buckley shows Kamaru Usman the way Gilbert Burns advises Kamaru Usman to follow a similar game plan against Joaquin Buckley as their Kill Cliff FC teammate. Former UFC welterweight champion Usman (20-4 MMA, 15-3 UFC) will look to snap a three-fight losing skid when he takes on Buckley (21-6 MMA, 11-4 UFC) in Saturday's UFC on ESPN 69 (ESPN, ESPN+) main event at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Buckley is unbeaten since dropping back down to welterweight in May 2023. The last time Buckley lost at 170 pounds was against Logan Storley in April 2018, which led to his move up to middleweight. Burns advises Usman to use a heavy grapple approach just like Storley did when he stifled Buckley on the ground. "I want Kamaru to win," Burns said on his "Show Me The Money" podcast. "The guy was at the gym – he was looking very good. At the gym, we had one of the guys that smashed Buckley back in the day. It was a long time ago at Bellator. Logan Storley just outwrestled him, ground-and-pounded him. It shows Kamaru the way. I think Kamaru has to mix it up. I think he was the best at the time when he was mixing it up. Not just striking. I kind of called that he was going to lose to Leon (Edwards). "At that time, he wasn't wrestling anymore. He just stood up with Leon, and I knew it was going to be hard. Whenever he mixes it up – sometimes he'll wrestle not just to wrestle, (but) wrestle just to make this guy think about it and then strike better, get loose. Take this guy down, make this guy tired. Buckley is very muscular, very strong. If Buckley starts putting pressure, Buckley is very, very dangerous. I think the way for Kamaru is to put pressure. I hope he wins, and I think he can." Burns fought Usman for the welterweight title in February 2021 in what was an emotional fight between teammates. After stunning Usman in Round 1, Burns was ultimately finished by TKO in Round 3 at UFC 258.

Kirk Herbstreit Teases Major Announcement With Nick Saban

Kirk Herbstreit Teases Major Announcement With Nick Saban originally appeared on Athlon Sports. ESPN sports analyst Kirk Herbstreit, most known for his work on College GameDay and Thursday Night Football, went viral with his former dog Ben, who passed away in November 2024. Advertisement Ben's younger brother, Peter, has filled the void and been a sensational piece of Herbstreit's life, and is fully integrated in the College GameDay crew. Beloved by all members of the team, Herbstreit posted a picture with the young golden retriever with former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban, teasing a major announcement upcoming. A new Home Depot commercial featuring both Herbstreits and Saban is set to release soon, and the picture of them more than adds to the hype. Kirk Herbstreit is all smiles in South Bend, Indiana with Nick Saban on Friday.© Michael Clubb/South Bend Tribune The College GameDay crew and Home Depot have had a good working relationship, as seen before in multiple commercials, as well as partnerships with the two live on air. Advertisement Herbstreit, Saban, and the rest of the team have all shown a bright light into the college football experience, and continuing to branch out to attract more viewership to one of the best analyst panels in sports. The college football season is still a few months away, but with training camps underway, and now the announcement of a big Home Depot commercial with the ESPN crew certainly builds lots of hype, and something fans are ready to have back. College GameDay brings a lot of the country together every Saturday morning before games kick off around the country, and the growth with recent additions in Saban and Pat McAfee, as well as the retirement announcement of Lee Corso after this season will make this season one to remember.
