BLACKPINK's Lisa ignored at Emmys for The White Lotus acting debut, earns nomination for THIS instead

A big win for BLINKs and music lovers alike! Lisa of BLACKPINK, along with RAYE and Doja Cat, has landed an Emmy nomination. The trio's unforgettable James Bond tribute at the 2025 Oscars has officially been nominated for an Emmy. It's up for Outstanding Choreography in Variety or Reality Programming at the upcoming 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. Their Oscars set had social media buzzing earlier this year, and now, the Emmys have taken notice. The performance featured three bold takes on iconic Bond tracks, each artist owning the stage with flair and power. Lisa stunned audiences with her high-energy rendition of Live and Let Die, complete with show-stopping choreography. Doja Cat dazzled in diamonds as she performed Diamonds Are Forever. Meanwhile, RAYE wrapped the tribute with a haunting version of Skyfall, originally sung by Adele. No acting nomination for Lisa in The White Lotus While the Emmy nod for her Oscars performance was a bright spot, Lisa's acting debut didn't get the same recognition. Despite appearing in the massively nominated The White Lotus: Season 3, Lisa was not included in the individual acting categories. She portrayed Mook, a poised wellness mentor at the Koh Samui branch of the fictional luxury hotel. The White Lotus racked up a whopping 23 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series. This makes it one of the most recognized series this year. However, in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category, the nominees included Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, and Aimee Lou Wood from The White Lotus. Lisa, unfortunately, was left out of the final list. Fans still proud as Lisa joins Emmy buzz Although Lisa's acting snub stung for some fans, many BLINKs are overjoyed that she still found her way into the Emmy spotlight. Her performance with RAYE and Doja Cat not only captured the spirit of the Bond franchise. It also highlighted Lisa's versatility as a performer, earning her first-ever mention at American television's most prestigious awards. As the 2025 Emmy Awards approach, all eyes will be on whether the powerful Oscars performance can take home the win. Either way, Lisa has already made history in more ways than one.

10 Biggest Emmy snubs of 2025: Squid Game, Selena Gomez, The Handmaid's Tale and more

The 2025 Emmy nominations are out, and with them comes a long list of stars and shows who've been officially benched this year. While Severance, The White Lotus, The Studio, and Hacks lead the pack, the list, announced by Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) and Brenda Song (Running Point), also came with some serious shocks. Fan-favourites were nowhere to be found, including Netflix's Korean juggernaut Squid Game and Elisabeth Moss for The Handmaid's Tale, among others. Also read: Emmy Awards nominations 2025: Severance leads Emmy race with 27 nominations, The Studio gets 23 nods as AppleTV+ dominates The South Korean thriller starring Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun, which aired the franchise's finale this year, was among the most looked-forward sequels given the first season walked away with six trophies in 2022. But its second season, which dropped in December 2024, didn't score a single nomination. Fan-favourite character Thanos (played by T.O.P), who became a breakout hit, failed to clinch a nod. For a show that dominated the cultural conversation, this shutout was a disappointment. Hulu's hit Only Murders in the Building has always been an Emmy darling, with its lead stars rarely missing from the nominations. However, this time only Short was nominated, while both Martin and Gomez were left out. While HBO hit The White Lotus took several nods for the night, with almost everyone getting a nomination, Patrick Schwarzenegger's snub alone was the biggest shocker. Critics have praised his character, calling him the emotional heart of the season. Emmy voters missed that memo. Also read: Justin Bieber's Swag becomes one of his worst-rated albums; it's already crashing on streaming charts Andor, the story of Rebel spy Cassian, did earn an Emmy nomination, a well-deserved Best Drama Series, but contrary to expectations, the lead star, Diego Luna, got nothing. Aside from him, co-stars Stellan Skarsgård and Genevieve O'Reilly were also left out despite giving one of their best performances to date. Critics have repeatedly praised Luna's brilliant acting chops in the Star Wars spin-off, but the Emmys didn't bite. Safe to say, Natasha Lyonne carried Poker Face on her back for two seasons. Yet despite being nominated last year, she didn't make the cut this time. The show did score two nominations, one of which is for Cynthia Erivo's multi-character guest role. But still, fans believe Lyonne's detective character is the show's entire spine. The Handmaid's Tale is one of the Emmy panel's favourites, having returned for nominations almost every year. However, for its final season, the show only picked up one nomination, and that too for Cherry Jones in a guest role. Moss, who had already earned an Emmy for the franchise as the lead, was left out completely. Even more surprising, she didn't land a directing nod either, despite strong behind-the-camera work this season. After a spectacular Emmy run in the past, clinching 10 nominations across Seasons 1 and 2, including multiple nods for Lynskey, Yellowjackets got none this year. Even with a darker, more complex third season, the survival thriller received zero nominations. Somebody Somewhere, with its quiet yet superlative comedy, became a fan favourite on HBO and ended its three-season run to critical praise. Jeff Hiller got a nomination, and the show was solely recognised for its script. But Bridget Everett, the emotional anchor and the lead of the series, was snubbed. Given how much of the show's magic came from her grounded, quiet performance, this one's tough to ignore. There was plenty of buzz around Knightley's performance in Netflix's popular spy series, Black Doves. Speculations were rife that she would surely lead the nominations this year. But in a year where Slow Horses ate up all the spy-love, Black Doves was completely shut out, no acting, no writing, nothing. Ted is an Emmy regular but didn't land a single nod this year. His show, A Man on the Inside, also went unnoticed across the board. For someone who's been an awards fixture since Cheers, the silent treatment is disappointing. Some honourable mentions

He continued, "People in general are pretty cool to make fun of themselves and Hollywood and seem to get the joke, which was nice," reported People. A Special Milestone in Scorsese's Emmy History Scorsese is already a three-time Emmy winner who has received multiple Emmy nominations over the years for his work on nonfiction series, including The Soul of a Man, American Masters, and No Direction Home: Bob Dylan . He won his first Emmy in 2011 for directing an episode of Boardwalk Empire. He won two Emmys in 2012 for the nonfiction special George Harrison : Living in a Material World, one of which was for directing. However, his nominations mark a significant milestone for the filmmaker, who has previously received Emmy recognition but never for acting performances. The 2025 Emmy Awards take place on September 14.
